My father was a first responder for the City Fire Dpt in Pittsburgh Pa for 35 years. The stuff he saw and people he saved and people that didn’t make it but he still had to remove them bewilders me still to this day how he didn’t have PTSD. He passed in 2010 and his legacy hopefully will go on forever. God Speed to all emergency personal. I believe they are a different breed of people because not everyone can do this job. My father was also in the service for 4 years and in Vietnam in 1968 & 1969. To me he was a true American Hero.
SCRATCHING FOR CASH, Yes Sir he was a true hero...I thank him for his service on both sides...For his country and for his people saving lives...Bless him and may he RIP💜🧡💛💚💙TY for sharing 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Just looked this accident up to see the outcome. The driver was phucked-up on PCP, per the hospital blood draw. 3 vials were found in the wreckage; 2 empty, 1 containing PCP. Driver & passenger survived, barely. The driver was arrested on multiple charges over a year later, including “intent to deliver” the drug. He was released on $200,000 bail. As far as I could tell, this case still hasn’t been fully adjudicated as of this writing, November 2019.
When I was an ER nurse, we had a patient brought in where her car had left the interstate and gone into the trees. Split the car in half. She didn't even have cuts. Treated and released. She was going on about how she hated that car. I had the same type of car. I told her that car saved her life as it had a roll bar like race cars have. Small car versus huge pine trees. Some times you just want to reach out and touch someone.
So grateful to all the firemen, EMS and the invention of the Jaws of Life. Some of these wrecks don't even resemble vehicles anymore. It's amazing how anyone could survive this
Completely agree with you. I’ve seen accidents where there’s no way to determine what make or model the vehicle is, is just looks like a crushed aluminum can. Awful scenes.
I can't understand, how people get into such a serious crash , and the car is split in half or in pieces. .I can see head on , on interstates. But city/ town rds like this! I doesn't make any sense at all. This wasn't a police chase right? U feel for all those EMS & Fireman too see this day in and day out! I give them the Hero status! 💙🥰💪🚑🚒 Prayers to all these victims and families! Wow!. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Yes ma'am! You are so right! I have a lot of respect & empathy for first responders! They do their absolute best & they give their absolute all and in return, go to bed at night with the weight of the entire world on their shoulders!! I can't even begin to imagine how they compartmentalize all of the good, the bad & the ugly of what they experience on a daily basis! They are truly earthbound angels!
@@u4riahsc Same! They are the true heroes no matter the outcome at the end of the day! They can't save everyone but they do their absolute best! God bless them all!
THANK YOU for uploading the whole video and letting us see the conclusion! So many people cut off the videos before we can see the whole thing. KUDOS to you!!
No holding 'C' spine, letting the driver move his head from side to side...yeah, great training. Gotta love the way they dragged that guy out as well. Ever heard of a K.E.D.?
I can't tell if your being sarcastic? or serious? With the slow, methodical, no panic and no hurry comments....lol. Cause I need them to do the opposite(hurry like a mutha fu..) when I'm dying in the drivers seat.
I was a volunteer firefighter for almost 15 years until I broke 4 vertebrae after a seizure. I miss it terribly. I honestly would still be doing it if not my back.
@@hawkeye48 … Your comment was absolutely unnecessary, inappropriate and beyond rude. And yes, I realize this is a very old post, but it’s never to late for you to turn over a new leaf, consider being kind and to stop being a dick to others. To the original poster, I thank you for your dedicated service to your community and to humanity in general. I am very sorry to hear about your injury and wish you all the best.
Absolute superior footage. Well done. Great work to each individual first responder there! This is how it is here in Ireland also. Calm, collected and patient work proceeded by a risk assessment. Huge respect to you all.
I would safely estimate they had to be flying at around 75-90 to split the car in two on impact. anything slower might just bend the car like a bow tie around the tree
W Fox there was a head on wreck near me a few months ago where the car that caused the accident was going 90, and the damage to the other cars wasn’t nearly this bad
Man. You have to be a gifted person to achieve such a level of destruction like this on a car wreck, apparently on a urban area. Someone capable of such a did is nothing but a criminal.
Strange. Normally people filming these type of events are not allowed to get that close. Makes for great viewing, for sure. What a crazy job being a rescue firefighter must be... I can't imagine some of the scenery a lot of those guys must go home with in their heads. They certainly do great work.
If a car splits in half like this it is a a " Cut & SHUT" which is in fact the front end of one car & the rear end of ANOTHER car welded together to make one car Which is ILLEGAL in the UK & should be elsewhere. This car was most likely a cut & shut as this is always the first assumption when a car splits in half as this is the only logical explanation as this by right is meant to be impossible UNLESS it is a CUT & SHUT.
The end condition of those vehicles& MY GOD!! Thank you to the emergency response teams to be able to be able to work past that in order to hopefully save a life.
I've of accidents like this happening but i never seen it. I was in an accident recently and i now know how blessed i am to be walking around. Other than my slipped disc im fine. I praye for there families
What these people do goes above and beyond any gratitute they ever recieve. How they do it is beyond me. I'm a nursing assistant and these guys are a special breed
I know that intersection. There is a significant "speed bump" (natural subsidization in the pavement) directly in front of that stop sign. You basically can't do more than 25 through there without risking messing up your vehicle somehow. Must have been doing WELL above that to have caused a complete bifrication. Glad he made it atleast.
If that were my kid no matter how old, I would hope that he/she would pull through just so I could kick them right in the ASS AND CALL MY CHILD AN IDIOT.
And after reading the article, it says they were in a Chevy Malibu, that car is front wheel drive, with a 6cyl. Wow! It's a shame about those sweet 22's. 😂😂😂😂
tunedouttom You’re correct; it was a Malibu. Definitely NOT a “high performance” vehicle! The driver was high on PCP, per hospital blood draw. 3 vials were found in the wreckage - 2 empty, 1 with PCP in it. Although seriously injured, both driver & passenger survived. The driver wasn’t arrested for over a year, probably because of his physical condition/recovery. The case has yet to be adjudicated. The driver faces a slew of charges, including “intent to deliver” the drug. He was was released on a $200,000 bond.
@@windwoman3549 Thank you for the update (if it is authentic). Not surprised about the drugs, we see that in the ER at the hospital way more often than we'd like to and the ending is not nearly as good as this one. Drugs AFFECT THE BRAIN and the thinking, and people on them are not cognizant of the damage they are doing to themselves. Drug abuse today is rampant and addiction usual. But it IS POSSIBLE to get off drugs and to do so can save a lot of lives. There are better ways to spend money than on drugs, there is no good end to that!
What happened to the other 2 passengers that were in the back seat? They said they didn't find them. That doesn't look like something you could just get up and walk away from....
As Forrest Gump once said, "Stupid is as stupid does." The problem is, you can't fix stupid... Ignorance can be mitigated to some degree by education and experience. I.E. - You can tell a person, "Fire is hot, it will burn you, and it will cause pain!" THAT'S an attempt at EDUCATION. If that person refuses to be educated, then the only other way for them to understand is to EXPERIENCE fire. EXPERIENCE is often harder on a person than EDUCATION, but the lesson usually only needs one session. Most people tend to cease activity that is associated with extreme pain. BTW, that's why corporal punishment usually works to cause cessation of inappropriate or harmful behavior.. (provided the punishment is consistent and proportionate to mitigate the behavior) As some in the comments here have alluded, reckless driving is an ever growing problem. As more people populate the highways, there will inherently be more crashes. THOSE WHO CAUSE DEATH - by excessive speed, DUI, willful disregard of others, or plain recklessness should be charged with vehicular homicide. They should be prosecuted as any other killer, and should suffer the same fate as their victims. It doesn't "fix" stupid, but it prevents repeat offenses. (for those of you who may be confused by this line if reasoning, it means that dead people can't kill again) "When you're dead, you don't know you're dead. The pain is felt by others. Same thing happens when you're stupid."
@Bob BURRILL ding ding ding! You are correct! lol good catch! I was so into reading his comment so I didn't catch it and it's my favorite movie, know it word for word.
Much respect for the men and women who have to see and clean up messes like this,I don't think I'd ever sleep well again. His speed my lord, how fast was he going?!!
True, but this might actually be easier than cleaning up a scene where someone was seriously hurt or dead. Despite the apparatus, I'd always feel a bit less anxious knowing the person's alive. I wonder how hard it is to clean blood from a scene where you know someone died.
Not all but many 1st responders have ptsd and unfortunately commit suicide for to often, however, mental groups are taking more proactive measures and its working to help our 1st responders deal with the negative shit they deal with everyday. I've always said 1st responders, school teachers, soldiers etc., basically anyone on the front lines putting there life on the lines for mine and your well being should be the ones signing the contracts that earn them millions upon millions of dollars. Yes now in an era of school shootings teachers unfortunately are considered front line as they too don't know if someone is going to go on a spree. Here is a link to a RU-vid video that relates to fire/ems ptsd that I watched the other night. It was a really great video. Enjoy. O' ,make sure you are sitting down when in the video, they give deaths by suicide and on job accident death in there line of work is.💪🇺🇸 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M44NNoDLEo0.html
mmtallm All too often that is exactly right. 😢 Unfortunately sometimes an innocent person or persons looses their life as result of the intoxicated driver.
If they never found the other two bodies, I'm left with two possible scenarios. 1) There was no third and fourth passenger, the driver gave a statement while he was delirious and only *thought* he had two other people with him, or 2) the other two, and therefore all four, survived that ridiculous-ass wreck and fled the scene because they had something on them that they shouldn't have. I can't think of any other possibilities as I am certain they searched the absolute fuck out of the immediate surrounding area. Either way, that driver and passenger are lucky as FUCK.
Police arrived and found a Chevy Malibu split in half. Two males were pinned in the vehicle. The front of the car landed in the yard of 1333 4th Street. The back end of the car sat in the middle of the intersection of 4th Street and Grove Street. The driver stated there was 4 people in the car at the time of the accident which prompted a large police and fire response to search the area for two more passengers. Officials feared they were thrown from the vehicle after impact. Rescue 241 from Catasauqua arrived and put their Hurst tools in-service. Both males had to be cut out of the car. First was the passenger and then at 01:36 the driver was freed from the mangled wreckage. The car was traveling south on Main Street from Northampton at a high rate of speed when it crossed the yellow guide line and left the road on the east side of the street striking a utility pole at the southeast corner of 4th and Penn Street. The car narrowly missed homes by a few feet. The car continued south on the sidewalk striking numerous street signs. Near Grove Street the car struck a tree and split in two with the front part of the car landing just a few feet from the home at 1333 4th Street. Both occupants of the car were transported to the trauma center. Their condition unknown. No other occupants were located in the search. The road remained closed for most part of the morning while North Catasauqua Police investigated. newsworking.org/car-splits-in-half-after-hitting-pole-and-tree-2-people-pinned/
Great job guys! Everyone was professional! Was I mistaken, but wasn't it reported that the driver said there were 4 passengers in the vehicle? If so there was no recuse shown of the back passengers. RIP if that's the case. Hope all recover, but no more driving. Driving is a privilege, not a right. So glad no one else was involved and that the car didn't continue into the person's home! Again, thank you 1 st responders and law officers!
I wonder what they were on, I read the article and it said both occupants said there were 4 people in the car at the time of the collision. After an extensive search no other occupants were found.
Type of crash where vehicle is in pieces, hard to examine how the destruction happened. Thanks to link: High speed, vehicle airborne, Crashing into tree. Amazing 2 men survived crash. Fortunate no one in back seats.
WTF!! Last few sentences of the news article linked in the description says "Both occupants of the car were transported to the trauma center. Their condition unknown. No other occupants were located in the search. The road remained closed for most part of the morning while North Catasauqua Police investigated." So someone woke up to a dead person in their backyard or were these two so fucked up they thought their car was full of people???
Oh Lord I come to you for this prayer isn't for me it's for all the victims in this wreck & for everyone of the fire departments may you be with each & everyone you this shouldn't of happen oh Lord I know that your a busy man but I also know that you love all your children I ask you please reach down and touch each of them & let them all know that your right there with & for them in your loving name amne🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
My sister was in an accident like this. The back of the car wrapped around the pole, killing our friend. It threw my sister 200 feet where a cypress knee went through her. She was in a coma for 3 months. The driver got away with a slap on the wrist and this was the 2nd time he killed people. Praying they were really wrong about 2 more people and don't find them months from now. It happens!!
I was thinking if those EMT's find 2 more people in that Sardine Can, I will fall out of my Chair, especially if it's in the back piece! As it was it was nothing short of a Miracle those 2 men were still alive!
It's just amazing how all the emergency services become as one, working as a big team. Was that a 25MPH speed limit? if it was, that's the worst damage I've ever seen at that speed.
Blackmon Farms , I think that must have been a different accident since this accident clearly only had two victims. Police can hear other calls though, while on any given scene
I'm sorry about what happened to you... I hope you get well soon.. I'm sorry about you losing your car.. I hope the people who hit you and your passager get well soon to..... May God be with you and your family to in these crisis 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Their lucky their car did not catch on fire and they didnt burn alive. These guys endangered nit onlt their lives but the lives of other fir their foolishness. Their parents also would have suffered greatly at their demise. Hopefully they pay big for what's they did. I dont think the crash will teach them anything whatsoever.
Moved back down south from PA couple months ago. The speeding and ignorance I saw with the driving convinced me to let my husband drive anytime we got in the car.
You MUST always stay alert and watch in all four directions when you’re driving, as well as, sitting at a stop sign and/or a stop light‼️‼️ You not only drive for yourself, but for everyone else around you. PLASE drive safely!! Don’t drive like an idiot speeding, running stop signs and/stop lights, and DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE‼️‼️💓💓💕💕❤️❤️
it kind of boggles my mind that these engines do not have built in compressors loaded at all times... If this person was in critical condition and in immediate need of medical attention that this process would of taken too long.
some trucks do have on-board hydraulic power units but sometimes its easier to grab a portable unit and work off of that, especially in difficult to reach areas. that being said, extrication can only go so fast. there are different tactics for different situations. in the case of a critical patient we are going to make the least amount of cuts possible to get the job done. with modern vehicles we need to be mindful of all the airbags and must locate them before we cut as they can be a danger to us and the patient. also, the car has to be stabilized prior to cutting not only for safety but also to help with some operations, for example, dash rolls/lifts. when you first get on scene you have to do what is called scene size up, which is looking for hazards and other conditions (usually the officer does this). its not just roll up on scene and start cutting. :)
Don't get me wrong because I totally agree with having fully portable systems, but a cutter pre connected to a 100' reel would have had that patient(both for that matter) out of there in half the amount of time that took. Also eliminates the need to carry a heavy power unit, then piece together the entire system. The patient clearly wasn't too critical considering the lack of medical attention they were receiving during the extrication. If the true goal of the fire department is to remove the patient as soon as possible, the whole back of that passenger compartment was wide open. Cut the seat backs lay them onto a backboard and slide them out. They'd be out and in the ambulance in under ten minutes. I understand everyone has their SOGs and we all operate differently but extrication is typically a time driven event. As mentioned, we try to make the least amount of cuts necessary to speed up the process. This is the second Northhampton video I've watched where there is entirely too much time spent trying to remove doors with spreaders.
