I can testify it's a great thing! It might be tricky, since sometimes it doesn't have the whole range of movement needed to focus near AND far. solution? just focus manually "near" to perfect, and let this little machine perform it's magic. now you can shoot moving subjects and nail focus time after time.
Thanks for this, which is the most professional photo product presentation I've seen so far. I could list the many things done well including the presenter's performance. There are only two things I think should be changed: 1) 2 pounds was listed in specs. Add metric and you'll more directly communicate with the vast majority in the world. I see 2 cm was mentioned elsewhere. and 2) In the list of adaptable lens mounts, many common and a couple of uncommon mounts were listed as compatible. It took me quite some time to finally confirm that the Canon FD mount works with the system (I hope I'm right) via an FD-LM adapter. Canon FD lenses include some of the best ever made, are widely available and mostly an incredible bargain.
Hi Steve, this adapter is actually not compatible with Canon FD lenses. Our Canon FD to Leica M lens adapter doesn't clear the motor at the bottom of the adapters and can't fully mount onto it. This is why we didn't list it as a compatible lens mount.
@@FotodioxInc Hey guys, great work! However, you know how many micro 4/3 cameras don't have good autofocus. I think it would be a great idea if you made an adapter like this for micro 4/3 but put in ultrasonic and depth sensing sensors to judge how the lens should focus. Would this even be possible? What would be there limitations preventing this from becoming a reality? If this became real you'd have a lot of micro 4/3 customers from Panasonic, Olympus, and Blackmagic
Is there an option modify an EF or FD adpater to fit the Pronto somehow? The flange distance should work right? And are the Sony A7R4 and R3 compatible? Oh, and can you update the firmware of this older version as well?
Unfortunately not for Canon EF. Canon EF to Leica M adapters do not fit on the Pronto. Our FD to Leica M adapter won't fit on the Pronto either due to it's size, but there are some versions of an FD to Leica M adapter out there that will. The Haoge brand FD to Leica M adapter works on the Pronto based on what one of our customers has told us. The design is different than ours, so it fits. The Pronto should work well on the A7R4 and R3. The older version of the Pronto is not upgradeable.
Whoa! That's really cool - thanks for sharing! Despite the obvious sound, what's your experience been like using it while filming? (if it works at all in continuous AF mode... I have the feeling it may just be for stills, but it doesn't specifically say anything about video on their site).
Awesome! Great product and great honest video, by not only pointing out how great it is, but what to look out for aswell!! Just wondering how this thing performs while recording video, since I'm more of a filmmaker myself.
With 50mm and wider lenses you can set them to infinity focus. With longer lenses you may need to adjust the focus a bit as needed to get it to auto focus on near or far subjects. There are no plans currently to make the adapter compatible with contrast detect auto focus cameras. The adapter relies on Sony's Phase Detect auto focus to work properly, so it only works with Sony cameras that have Phase Detect AF.
How happy I was watching your video, and how deep frustrated I've became after checking your site. M42 to Sony E-mount is archived, and I have no chance to make my soviet glasses autofocusing on Sony A7c.
Sorry, we had an old link in the description, here's the correct link to buy the M42 to Sony E version: fotodioxpro.com/products/lm-sne-prn-mkii?variant=39265500725351
@@FotodioxInc thanks for the link! Could you tell me please what can go wrong with hybrid autofocus mode? Sony A7c has AF points (693 PDAF, 425 CDAF). Long hunting AF? Low sharpness? And another one tricky moment. A7c IBIS properties need to be changed to "manual" adding focal length of adapted non-original prime lens. Does moving front and back affect the focal lengths and IBIS?
Hi I inspired by your video and bought sony a7ii, now I don't find m42 to sony FE ADOPTER ANY WHERE in the world Did you mean i can directly attach m42 lns on (leica m) mount?
If you have the PRONTO adapter, you'll need our M42 to Leica M adapter, which you can get here: fotodioxpro.com/products/m42-lm If you want to mount your M42 lens directly to your a7ii, you'll need this adapter: fotodioxpro.com/products/m42-snye
damn, you answered my question. I have one too, panasonic G3. Love that thing. I have an adapter for minolta lenses, but have to manual focus. I don't mind though, for now I will save the $250
You mention it work with the A6300, A6500; But’s about the A6000, A6400 and the latest A6600? Now that Pronto Lens Adapter what is the framing with the APS-C Sony camera? Did we loose anything? I would love to return to the fantastic Leica lenses (if I ca found some in my area) !
It doesn't work with the a6000, we know it works on the a6400 because we tested it, and it should work on the a6600 unless Sony drastically changed the firmware. When adapting Leica M lenses to a Sony APS-C camera, you'll just get the standard 1.5x APS crop, so a Leica 40mm lens will be about a 60mm full frame equivalent.
Let's say I want to use it as an AF Adapter, but also as a simple adapter to focus manually, using the aperture ring of the lens. In this case, can I simply use the in-camera menu to select MF? And if I do so, what is the adapter's parking position? I ask this because it is clear to me that if I adjust the aperture ring of the lens at its MFD instead of infinity, I can achieve AF shorter than the lens itself allows. Of course then I will not be able to focus on far objects, but that is understandable. But I am thinking this backwards: Can the adapter's parking position be adjusted to its fully extended length, so that one can achieve MF to distances shorter than the lens would allow, using the aperture ring of the lens? (Sorry for the long comment)
Can the auto focus be used effectively in video say with a A6500 or AR7II? Could it work with m43 lenses with the fotodiox m43 to sony e-mount adapter you sell? Thank you for your reply!
Hi Photone Photography, we're currently just offering this adapter for Sony E-mount cameras, but keep an eye on our channel for future product announcements.
We do offer one. You have to buy our Pronto AF adapter for Nikon Z that comes bundled with a second adapter to adapt Nikon F lenses to it. Here's the link: fotodioxpro.com/products/lm-nkz-prn?variant=39265505771623
I believe i will not get an answer due to how old the video is but... I have a sony E lens that is fully manual, is there any way that this could give it autofocus capabilities?
Unfortunately not, because you can't put extra space between a native lens and a native camera without losing infinity focus and basically turning the lens into a macro focus only lens. This is why we can only make auto focus adapters for non-native lenses with longer focal flange distances.
I was excited about this product until you started talking about weight limitations and long focal length restrictions. And the fact that the adaptor may not allow you to place your camera on a tripod. Oh well, nice thought anyway.
This adapter doesn't communicate with the metadata of your camera or add any metadata to photos. We don't currently offer a Fuji X version, but stay tuned for future updates!
The adapter gets in the way of the tripod mount of the Nikon Z6. Do you know if is there any type of screw adapter thing I can buy to screw onto the bottom of my camera, then fit an additional screw to the tripod mount? If you know what I mean lol.
Oh yeah, we know what you mean, and we’ve run into the same issue when using certain tripods. Try something like this: www.amazon.com/Converter-Shoulder-Lighting-Equipment-Frgyee/dp/B096FKBQ9R/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?crid=34ZB16UCSL3F1&keywords=quarter+twenty+spacer+male+to+female&qid=1694179505&sprefix=quarter+twenty+spacer+male+to+female%2Caps%2C69&sr=8-12
Would you (please) consider creating a Pronto adapter for the a6000, specifically for Canon EF lenses? For a cost conscious beginner with an a6000 body, and a single Canon lens (NEW EF 50mm 1.4 USM lens bought new in 2006 but likely manufactured well before that) this is crucial. This lens is still new in box from the first batch of 50mm 1.4 USM produced. RP
You don't need a Pronto adapter for auto focusing Canon EF lenses on your a6000. We already offer a Canon to Sony Auto focus adapter that does just that. Here's the link: fotodioxpro.com/products/eos-snye-p-fusion?_pos=1&_sid=d1eeedb30&_ss=r
If you're referring to our PRONTO adapter for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, it has a Leica M lens mount, but you can also use these lens mounts with different kits: Alpa 35, Contax/Yashica, Kodak Retina, Leica R, M39, M42, Minolta MD, Nikon F, Olympus OM, Pentax K, T-mount and Voightlander Nokton and Ultron. The Fuji X PRONTO is currently out of stock, but you can sign up to be notified when we get more in: fotodioxpro.com/products/lm-fx-prn
I am trying to use this with my ZV-E10, but it does not look like it is powering up properly when I switch the camera on. When I try to change focus mode it gives me an error: "Invalid with this lens."
Hi Thomas, we produced this adapter before Sony launches the ZV-E10, and we haven't tested it on that camera yet. It's possible that that camera model is not compatible with this adapter.
Do you mean the new Canon RF mount or the EF mount? One of the issues with the Canon DSLR EF mount is there's very little focal flange space left between adapted lenses and the mount to add a motorized focus drive, so we'd only be able to really make PRONTO adapters to adapt medium format lenses. But with the new Canon mirrorless RF mount there'd be more space to build a more standard PRONTO adapter.
Hi. Great product. One question though.. if i have a lens design dor sony e mount, but its manual focus lens. Can i use your prodact ? Or i need a sony-layca adapter as well?
Unfortunately that wouldn't work, because E-mount lenses are designed to mount snug on an E-mount camera's mount to focus to infinity. If you put extra space between an E-mount lens and an E-mount camera, the lens can no longer focus to infinity and becomes a macro focus only lens. This is why we don't offer an E to E Pronto adapter.
So you are saying that it will not work on a6000, a7, a7s and a7sII??? I would really want to take one for my a7!!! Well then i am not so lucky!!! This is life!!!!
Christos Serrano Thoma it could work, in theory if Sony would release a firmware update for those cameras. But Sony won't do that because they don't really care for their old cameras and they want you to invest in new hardware. Especially the a6000 would have a better autofocus hardware than the a7ii but the a7ii works, the 6000 does not.
Unfortunately not, because FD to Leica M lens adapters don't fit on the PRONTO. The motor in the adapter bumps into the body of the FD to Leica M adapter so you can't mount it on the PRONTO.
Hi Hagen, we recommend leaving the lens's focus setting at infinity and letting the adapter do the focusing for you. The only reason you should adjust the focus is if you're shotting with a lens 100mm or longer and you need to focus close up, or if you're shooting with a wider lens and want to shoot macro with the PRONTO.
Yes, it's to auto focus Leica M lenses or double adapted lenses on a Fuji X camera. Here's the link: fotodioxpro.com/products/lm-fx-prn And here's a video showing how it works: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qaC1ZzoOcKI.html
No, this is an adapter designed to adapt Leica M mount lenses to a Sony E-mount camera. You can't put an E-mount lens on it because there's extra space, so the lens wouldn't be able to focus to infinity.
I have a question. I have a Sony 12-24mm g f4 that doesn’t send info to my Sony a6500. If I attached a pronto adapter to my camera and then I used two adapters...a e mount to Pentax k adapter and then a Pentax to Leica mount would this be able to auto focus it? If it is it would be a very interesting way to mount my lens to it and get to auto focus again without having to spend $1000 to fix my lens or buy a new one. PLEASE HELP
Unfortunately you can't put extra space between native lenses and native cameras because you lose the ability to focus to infinity and you can only macro focus. This is because a Sony E-mount lens has just enough focal flange distance to mount onto a Sony E-mount camera and focus to infinity, and if you add any more space like an adapter, the flange distance is now too long. This is why we can only adapt lenses with longer focal flange distances than the camera mounts we're adapting them to. Hope this makes sense.
Fotodiox Inc I completely understand. But to be honest I still would probably buy one if it were made just to save some kind of auto focus on a 2,000$ lens. Idk. I think there would be a good size market for it if you guys made them.
You can't use E-mount lenses on this adapter, you can only use Leica M lenses or lenses that can be adapted to the Leica M lens mount through double adapting. Sony E-mount lenses are designed to mount flush with a Sony E-mount camera, so you can't put space between them and maintain the ability to focus to infinity.
No, unfortunately it only works with Leica M mount lenses, plus some other SLR lens mounts that you can mount to it via double adapting. It doesn't work with Fuji X native mount lenses because you can't put extra space between a native camera and native lens and maintain infinity focus.
Unfortunately our Canon FD to Leica M adapter has a barrel that is too thick and bumps into the motor drive at the bottom of the PRONTO, so it doesn't work.
No. Because E-mount lenses are designed to mount directly to an e-mount camera, and the minute you add extra space between an E-mount lens and E-mount camera, you lose the ability to focus to infinity and you're limited to macro only focusing.
Hello Bohus, my equipment is: camera fujifilm xt1 A mount and tamron A17 lens A mount ,is there a Fotodiox Pronto adapter for my equipment? Many Thanks Mr M Roopchan
There is no adapter since that lens is a Sony E-mount lens, and unfortunately you can't put extra space between a native lens and a native camera because the lens will lose the ability to focus to infinity and become a macro only lens. That's why we don't offer any E-mount to E-mount adapters.
Hi Sarj, you'll need to get our Pentax K to Leica M adapter. Here's the link: www.fotodioxpro.com/products/fotodiox-lens-mount-adapter-pentax-k-mount-pk-slr-lens-to-leica-m-mount-rangefinder-camera-body
hey guys, will this work with the new sony a7iii ? Also does it support continuous auto focus , so it could be used in video mode (and especially to use with face detection)? Thanks
Hi Kevin, we haven't tested it in the it on the A7 III yet, but the camera has phase detect auto focus so it should work well. You won't be able to shoot continuous AF or face detect because the Pronto doesn't currently support it.
Unfortunately not, because if you add extra space between a native lens and a native camera, you lose the ability to focus to infinity. This is why we don't offer an adapter like that.
@@FotodioxInc Thanks for the quick answer! I see. Is there any chance for a an F-mount adaptor for the new Nikon-Z system in the future? That would be a big deal, because atm the Nikon FTZ-Adaptor does also not have a drive for D-Series Nikkor lenses, so no AF for these ones too. Nikon slept on this one. That would also work because of the difference in distance you would have there anyway, right? I would buy it! Take my money!
@@Project_2501 That would be possible, since there's space to adapt between Nikon F lenses and the Nikon Z mount. We don't have anything to announce at this time though.
@@FotodioxInc I will stay tuned. It would be huge as a replacement for future buyers of the Z-System to replace the FTZ adaptor in general by having one for F-mount lenses that also focuses EVERYTHING. I'd be looking forward to it. Great stuff you're building!
This adapter requires phase detection auto focus, and the Sony a6000 only has contrast detection auto focus. We do make standard adapters that will work on the a6000, but this autofocus version only works on Sony cameras with phase detection af.
