Nice job. F___ (forget) the spring, it will be an ongoing consternation. Add some mass to the opposite side of your latch and let gravity be your best pal.

Wesley, you have good mechanical aptitude, your videos are easy to follow along, and you have a watchable quality. I would therefore make this recommendation: Change the format to copy what Norm Abrams does: Show the finished project at the beginning of the video, and THEN show how you made it. You will get people hooked at the get go. Thanks for the retractable casters design, most excellent.

@jemfly1062 2 года назад
Agreed Eric, absolutely. It would be brilliant if all who make projects would show completed jobs at the START of the clip. Instead, so many show a brief image or even worse, nothing at all. What about a five second introduction of what it is, what it does, how it works and then the making? This is part of the magic of video which so few seem to understand. So many spend so long talking to the camera and not enough time showing relevant details of their project.

It was someone that had commented on "never had a taco" and you wished they were coming to town so you could take them to the "Greatest Taco in the World" or something to that effect. I grew up in Dallas (Oak Cliff) of course it was in the 60's & 70's. Of course Oak Cliff didn't have all the little mom & pop Mexican food places. We had El Chico and El Fenix but that was about it. I'll look for Velvet Taco

Holey poot!! I was reluctant to build this caster set for my latest bench project because I didn't want to putz around with the locking mechanisms I was finding... This, however, is PERFECT! :O

Some of that reminds me of the old saying my welding instructor used to say to me:: " a grinder and a little paint will make a welder what he ain't''". When je looked at some of my welds! 😉 I've (hopefully) improved since those days...I really like the idea and am probably going to have to copy that, but just may have to make the table top a bit thicker.

A simple solution would be to design the catch with more weight to the left of the pivot, then the catch will automatically swing to the right. No spring required

For the spring, skip drilling holes. Weld rings( chain links split open, or split ring washers) at top and bottom. Stretch an appropriate spring.

I enjoyed your welding table build and the subsequent caster project. The caster mechanism is a really good design which I may modify to allow a timber work bench to become mobile. However your welding is considerably better than your Antipodean accent. Whilst my Australian accent is genuine my welding could be described as bloody awful. I have liked a number of your ideas. I have subscribed to your channel. Thank you
