It has been a hot one today. I spent all afternoon discussing with the dog when she could have her 'evening walk'. 13:00 hours was not on, in the end she agreed on 16:00 hours, but it was still far too hot, and I think she realised the error. No wonder, Chris was uncomfortable welding outside. Panel beating is an art. Amazingly, complex body parts were routinely handmade that way. I believe a few prototypes may still be made like that. It is fascinating to see flat metal become parts in the hands of a skilled metalworker like Chris. Sadly, it takes time to learn the skill and more time to make the parts, so seeing it done on video is a close as many will now come to the process. The van is getting the love and care that it missed in days gone by, it will be excellent when you are done. It will certainly need a smarter set of wheels, silver or silver and trims, but not 'poser wheels'.

Probably the best video of yours I’ve seen in regards to the actual work process. Chris’s bits of filming add a completely new dimension to it. The only way that would be better is if when he films he has the courage to talk through it - but that’s in no way a criticism at all - would be good to hear him more - every time he speaks he gets better and better in your videos. Well done to you both.

Chris has done a first class job there and once the painting is completed, that is going to be “one, nice, respectable camper van.” In my opinion, I think that wheel trims would be the way to go because, without that, it will be on par with someone wearing a well tailored, brand new suit and scuffed, unpolished shoes! Lovely, long video and very welcomed. I know it`s a lot of work for you, but I look forward to more. “Thank you, both.”

“Warning - Craftsman at Work” all bodgers leave the room!! I bet Chris has had them hammers for years, they are old friends to his hands. Love the dollys made from a piece of UC Steel and the steel rod. Lots of perfects in this video Rob which equates to perfection 👍 Holt’s have a lot to answer for with their sticky, cover everything, under seal. Hammerite came later, but you had to do a good job of the plating and the finishing with it, otherwise you could see the bodge 🥵Another “Masterclass” from Salvage Rebuilds UK👍👏😎

Chris is a star, proper panel beating skills, hard to find those kind of old school skills any longer - absolute legend! Last time I saw those kind of skills was when I started out in the motor trade back in the 1970s and sadly not many people have them or are prepared to learn them any longer, take my hat off to him. The wheels Rob, would look nice with some black plastic centre caps over the centre hubs and some plastic wheel nut covers, powder coat the wheels in silver, keep it simple, a bit utilitarian but a nice quality job. If you go the wheel trim route, fit quality items otherwise it will look terrible having got this far, if you fit cheap and nasty ones. Look forward to the progress with it. Best wishes to both of you, Cheers. 👍
