Glad to have you back Brandon. A suggestion; When you start to work in a drawing example, (for me) it would be helpful to know that you've changed the model space scale to correspond with the desired paper space scale. Question. Should separate text styles, dim styles and leader styles be created for all the various architectural scales I would be working in? Thanks for this VERY helpful video. Cheers

@meanpicker Год назад
Yes they should. If you’ll create a non-printing, viewport locked layer and place a window/grid on it in your model space, and create a separate dim and text style for each scale, then create locked viewports for all of them on your paper space sheets, they should all appear overlayed on the paper space sheet like you want (you’ll see the grid, but it won’t print). Then you just xref and/or draw directly in model space and the linetype scale is the only thing you’ll need to watch out for in paper space and adjust it for whatever different scale your sheet is drawn at...(everything will be set to 0.25 in model space and 1/4 of the dimscale at the paper space level).

Awesome Brandon. Appreciate the videos. I'm having trouble creating a dynamic block with linear stretch. Actually don't know difference between linear and polar stretch. When I do it all that happens is the object moves. I'm trying to create a simple 2 lines that represents a 4" piece of pvc pipe. I set rotation but I would like to be able to stretch it to different lengths. Thanks again for your videos and time.

While you’re inside the dynamic block editor, you just need to add a separate parameter for rotation and stretch. Then once you insert, it I believe the polar aspect would be controlled by whether you have ortho and/or polar mode turned on or not. You should have separate grips for rotation/flip and stretch, as well as being able to set the insert point.

i enjoyed your tutorial. I have been viewing many of your presentations, and now I finally subscribed. I set up my multileader formatting like you explained ANNOTATIVE>>LEADER STRUCTURE>>POINTS = 2, ANGLE=45, SECOND ANGLE =90, AUTOMATICLLY INCLUDE LANDING, LANDING DISTANCE = 1/8". CONTENT>> TYPE = Mtext, STYLE=ANNOTATOVE, ANGLE = HORZ, ALWAYS LEFT UNJUSTIFY = NOT CHECKED, CONNECTION = HORZ ATTACHMEN QUESTION/PROBLEM: When I am putting in the leader/text - I pick the location for the arrow, and drag the cursor, DOWN RIGHT, the text appears centered to the landing line. But when I drag the cursor DOWN LEFT, the text appears above a line that is the length of the text. How do I get the text to align with the landing wo a very long landing line extension? THX, Chuck B

What do you think of setting up Mleader styles for all scales? We've been doing this for 20+ years for Text and dim styles. Meaning using the scale in the dim or text style name, i.e., 384, 192, 128, 96, etc. 96 style is setup for 1/8" = 1' So eventually we can drag and drop from the design center all the Mleader styles and purge when done with the drawing.
@Cadintentions
@Cadintentions Год назад
That's definitely a helpful way to bring in and remove your styles. It depends on if you were using annotative styles. Annotative mleaders, text, dims, have helped reduce the need for too many different styles for each scale. If using annotative you can usually get away with just a handful styles since they'll adjust automatically based on the scale of your viewport.

Brandon, assume you left A, B, C as separate leaders. How would you align those leaders?

Can you make a multi leader line with a floating bubble along the initial line? The text will be in the default location, the bubble will float along the initial line and serve as place holder for item number. Can you do that in CAD?

Maybe you have already done a video on this and if so, I would appreciate the link. Is it not possible to control line type scale by layer? BTW: Thank you for teaching me these past 4 months man!

I’m not 100% sure if you can...but I will say that LTS is essentially based on being set to 1/4 of your your scale factor (dimscale). So, if you draw at 1:1 in your base plan xref and set your LTS to 0.25, then switch to your paper space template and set your LTS to 1/4 of the dimscale (ex: if your’e drawing at 1/4” = 1’-0” set it to 12 (1/4 of 48)) then it should display and print correctly.

Hey Brandon! Thanks for the tutorial. I was hoping to find an answer to my question: Is it possible to match the properties of a leader that has already been drawn and use it to draw the next leader including the text from the previous leader?

I want to create a table for my drawing, and want to be able to to assign each item in my drawing with a number. How do I go about this, as you have on your drawing, for example windows/ doors etc?

How did you get the MLeader to frame the text with a circle instead of a square?
@Cadintentions
@Cadintentions 2 года назад
ahh, sorry I should of shown that I think! In the leader settings dialog I show, on the Content Tab, you can choose the Multileader type. I had a second style made where I chose Block as my type and then you have the options below to pick between various block options like a circle, square, triangle etc... Hope that helps but just let me know if you had any other questions or would like a follow up video perhaps! Cheers

I really wish that acad would add the ability to insert a field and/attribute on the layout tabs.
@Cadintentions
@Cadintentions Год назад
Definitely that would be great!
@meanpicker
@meanpicker Год назад
You can...in model space. Just set up your sheet template as a stand-alone dwg file, then xref your base plan dwg into that sheet and clip it. Then you have the ability to insert fields and attributes (set that up as a block or xref too), add annotations, additional xrefs, etc. and just print from there instead of utilizing paper space.

As is usually the case, I can't really follow these videos as I have AutoCAD LT and the screen is totally different to the one you have on your screen, with different menu options and icons etc. so its far more difficult to follow along. But I'll give it a try...
