When you need to remove a layer from an AutoCAD drawing and Purge won't work, call on the Layer Delete (Laydel) command and watch your layer disappear for good. (Works in AutoCAD 2004-2010.) For more CAD tips, visit www.cadalyst.com.
Hey 9 years after!! still being super usefull Laydel.. Thanks a lot... Others videos in youtube gets super complex and boring to just delet a layer. Usefull, eficient, short, bravo!
My problem in layer is even I change the color of the layer but still green is coming even I change white in layers white but when you use the layer coming green again what is the problem?
I am looking for a way of removing (*A###) anonymous blocks & 50 line types. they have come in via pasting from another dwg, now I have 5 files at 10MB each & should be less than 1MB. I have been researching all afternoon can't find a way to purge them. I have setup one new test drawing, I copied & pasted one pline and 1 mtext into it, saved it and there it is just under 10Mb and all the blocks and lines are there. It is making 2014LT & work 2013MEP run really slow commands. any HELP please.
A) That's great that it gets rid of pesky layers! B) It's NOT GOOD that it doesn't list all the stuff that might be on that layer. Sometimes you get drawings made by other people, people who are not as rigorous w/ their methods for making blocks, you change everything over to your standard layers and go to purge all the old layers, but wait! there's some stinking layer that hangs on like a sticky booger. What in Sam Hill is on that layer? Who knows?! ACAD is too stupid to let you know.
