Using a motor h drive controller. You can control motor better. Also counting motors rotation you can slow down motor before it Hite limit switch
@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 3 года назад
Controlling asynchronous motor can't be accomplished using H-bridge (as far as I know, maybe it could lower rotational speed by little if voltage is very low) because it's rotational speed is independent on the voltage. Frequency converter could be used but is expensive. Counting motor turns would be a little too complex for me, I didn't want to get involved in that, but certainly a great idea.

Hi. A great tutorial and project. I have similar project and similar IR beam sensors but the difference is I am using Nema 23 stepper motor with driver DM542E. The procedure is like; if an obstacle occurred while opening or closing the gate. The gate should stop its working and resumes after the obstacle is gone. My question is do you connect COMM pin and taken signal from OUT or you haven't connected COMM and leave it and just working with OUT (Signal) using those transistors and resistors ?? Actually the range of detection reduces when I use it directly connecting arduino GND to COMM and a digital pin to OUT (without resistors or transistors).
@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 2 года назад
Hi Yaseen, glad you liked it. I've done this project two years ago and honestly have no idea on what inputs and outputs (COMM and OUT) are you talking about, can you clarify that part for me please?

@@Brezinjo you have taken signals from ir sensor to arduino nano can you kindly tell me which ports on ir sensor had you connected to arduino nano.
@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 2 года назад
@@yaseensayyed8033 Yes, now I remember (forgot to mention that in the video). I can't remember which one I connected, but what I remember is you have to connect the IR sensor the way that it constantly gives the signal to Arduino when obstruction is not present and it stops sending the signal when obstruction occurs. That way you ensure that if the IR sensor stops working for some reason, motor won't start. So to simplify: 1. Connect the IR sensor (receiver) with 12-24 V and turn it on 2. Ensure that the obstruction is present, in other words don't turn on the transmitter. 2. Test/find which of the pins (COM or OUT) has 0 V. The other one should have 5 V 3. Connect Arduino pin D13 (or other digital input) to the 0 V pin. I hope this helps!

@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 3 года назад
@Mrpeacemaker2
@Mrpeacemaker2 3 года назад
@@Brezinjo. Hm. Lp.

Hi, i have a slight problem with wireless remote control receiver, there is constant voltage on the pins and it doesnt react to remote control, i would appreciate any help. edit: there is second thing i want to ask is schematic control receiver is powered by 7.5V adapter but in product description its 12V so if problem is pehaps in voltage.
@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo Год назад
Adapters usually provide a bit of an overvoltage relative to their description, that's why I used 7.5V because it actually provided me with 12V. Always check the voltage of your adapter before using it on devices, otherwise you can damage them permanently :(

Hi If I'm not mistaking you said that the door can only be open from the remote control right? That's because the motor it's designed like that, but can I stop the gate from opening all the way? Like let's say I want to open the gate by my own liking and not all the way. Thanks for the detailed tutorial.
@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 3 года назад
Button C pauses the gates by your own liking, but yes, when pressed again (button C) it continues to open all the way and closes. If you'd like to make them close when you want, it would be good to repurpose some of the unused buttons on the remote control and rewrite the code to your liking

@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 3 года назад
No need for a timed relay, I guess you meant just the regular relay that is cheaper than SSR. I think you could, but they operate on lower amperage which means they will wear out sooner, so it's just a precaution from my side of things.

@@lappieslatandra Yes of course, it goes to relay that is inside the sensor. Relay has 2 outputs (power pins are ignored) as I recall, NC (normally closed) and NO (normally opened). You need to connect the wire to the NC (that way you ensure there is a constant signal when IR sensor is working and there is no obstruction between receiver and transmmiter)

@@Brezinjo Hi there, on the your schematic it look like the trigger pins are soldered together on the timer relay board. Can you please confirm that it is correct?
@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo Год назад
@@lappieslatandra I'm not sure on what trigger pins you mean, but I think they are not. For the timer relay board, black and red wires are power supply and two brown wires are going into the relay (that acts like a switch, hence the two wires). If I would solder them together, there would be no point in having the relay.

@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 3 года назад
@@shivamraikar4538Transistor is used as a switch for powering up appliances which utilize far more power than Arduino can handle on its own. It's a broad topic you should get pretty familiar with if you want to get this project done. I needed a transistor that could power the IR sensor who uses 18V, so in order to that I choose a transistor that has a peak voltage of 45 V just for safety precaution (voltage spikes are common in electronic circuits). You can use S8050 as well, but it will burn out at the first voltage spike, and naturally that is something you want to avoid. at 11:01 is the power adapter for IR not 12V ?
@Brezinjo
@Brezinjo 3 года назад
Well, the adapter itself is rated for 12 Volts, but it gives out around 18 volts(because it used to be for recharging, and those adapters almost always give more voltage then rated, they don't have steady supply voltage), but that's not a problem for IR sensor, because it can handle the input range from 12-24 volts.
