Thank you for your kind sharing. But I got problem on this method. Once you click on a cell within the range it will be locked even if you didn’t write anything. I need a code says: only activate cell lock when there’s entry otherwise keep it unlocked. Is that possible? Hope I make myself clear 😅.
This tutorial is very helpful, thank you so much, please how do I apply this to Excel sheet with many formula without me unlock the formula? I need your assistance.
You are AMAZING and all of your tutorials are AMAZING, Learned alot from you. I have a question here, Doesn't that mean that any one can see that peace of VBA code and know what my password is !? I mean that I don't any one else can access this password. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for this info...I am trying to add this code for multiple sheets in one excel file and its only working for single sheet and not multiple sheets...Can anyone help me on this
I have a question how to create a code using vba to use a click button to create a new row then relock work sheet, but leave the new row open. then target a cell range to lock after data is enter with a Msgbox asking the user is the information is correct before locking with a vbYes or No if user select yes then lock if user select no clear cell
This only works when data is entered in the desktop version of Excel; when the spreadsheet is opened in the browser in Office 365 then anyone can enter and edit blank cells, but not the cells filled in when opened on the desktop. Is there a solution to this? (Our users will open the sheet online).
Awesome Chester, I have done all that but when i move to the next column in that row it prompts me to input password again, hence i have to keep on unlocking every cell i input data, how do i solve this?
I have two cells to leave accessible so data can be put in but the worksheet stays protected there is also a chart that changes with the Data entered that well not work unless the worksheet is unprotected as well.
Hi Chester. Video is great and sorted the problem. All locked with password.... But... My line "I" does not want to lock and still allows me to edit. Everything else is perfect. Any thoughts?
If you double click an empty cell and not entry any data, the cell will be protected. To prevent protecting empty cell: If Target.Value "" Then Target.Locked = True.
You could add condition which check if target, range is in specific range area. if InRange(target.range, anyOtherArea) than target.locket = true Function InRange(Range1 As Range, Range2 As Range) As Boolean ' returns True if Range1 is within Range2 InRange = Not (Application.Intersect(Range1, Range2) Is Nothing) End Function
With this, It can automatically lock the cell after entry but what should I do to make the empty cell unlock? I want to make cells lock if anything enters and if the cell is empty I want the Cell unlocked. Or I don't have to use a password to enter the empty calls individually. It would be appreciated if anyone can explain. Thank you
This is close to what i need. We have a couple people that enter data in the spreadsheet. items they load on their truck. We print off the relavent information. When that data is entered in to our buisness program. I want to be able to delete the data that was entered in the spreadsheet, so they can use the same sheets the next day. However it still says the cell is blocked. so i can't enter new data.
how to lock only designated cells only Example: want to lock non blank cells of column A:B with password 1 & lock non blank cells of column D:E with different password say 2
