@@ReignitedAutoThis video did help a little, although I use a slightly different calculation based on my measurements of my own cars engine. Hight x Width x Hight divide buy 14. 225 Cm X 64 Cm X 58.38 Cm Divided by 14 Cm remember I have to scale down 14 Feet by 30.48 Cm, it = 60L a true monster of an VR8 engine.

@ReignitedAuto
@ReignitedAuto Год назад
That's actually a tough question. For my own builds I'm completely fine with reusing the timing chain because we really don't see many if any timing chain failures. However, if I'm recommending to a customer I'll probably say to replace it just to be safe.
@kyserbarnes7318

@@ReignitedAuto thank you for taking the time to respond I really appreciate that. The reason I ask is I replaced the cam in my charger rt and the timing came of. Didn't do to much damage just chipped one of my pistons and bent a valve on the same side but the other side looks fine. I haven't taken the valve cover off to see what may have caused the chain to come off yet but I didn't want the same problem to happen on my jeep. I may have tighten something down to hard or didn't tighten it good enough on the cam tensioner or maybe the timing was off. It was my first time doing it. Thank you and keep making videos man I love the knowledge you give very helpful 👍👍

Very nice. However, a liter of air can mean different amounts because air can be compressed. So a liter of air at 1 atmosphere is not the same as a liter of air at 5 atmosphere of preassure. I think it would be better to describe the displacement as a liter of space.

@ReignitedAuto
@ReignitedAuto 4 месяца назад
No, there is an air to fuel ratio that takes place inside the engine. This ratio changes constantly as the engine is running, but the "ideal" air to fuel ratio is 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel. 👍

Hey man, quick question: which variables result in a more powerful/agile engine? I know that there are several for each part but it's all very confusing😅
@ReignitedAuto
@ReignitedAuto 8 месяцев назад
That's actually a great question, and one that has a very long answer 😄. The simplest way to look at is is that your engine is an air pump, the more air it can get in/out, the more power it makes. This is why an intake helps, because it helps the air to get in, this is why a larger exhaust helps, because it moves more air out. Cams accomplish both. Usually all of these things working together is what gives the best results. For my part, I think bolt ons like that are sort of a waste of time/money. I like to go straight to forced induction supercharger/turbo because you get more power for your money. 👍
@VRTX_-iz7nz
@VRTX_-iz7nz 8 месяцев назад
@@ReignitedAutoawesome! And I'm assuming that the lesser the time between piston cycles the more performant your engine becomes in turn, such that wider pistons and smaller rods are "better" for overall performance. Is there anywhere else where I can get more information on the subject of engine design? (I'm taking on a very long-term project for fun and I figured I'd start with the engine).

Would a 1.5 liter engine have less torque and hp than a 5 liter engine? because (i assume) it has more space for fuel and air leading for a better combustion but worse fuel economy? sorry its a research about the differences between engines for my highschool automotive class, im not the most knowledgeable about cars, but i would be more than happy if you responded sir!
@ReignitedAuto
@ReignitedAuto Месяц назад
That's exactly right, the 5L engine has 3.3 times the displacement of the 1.5L engine so you are going to be using 3.3 times the amount of fuel during normal operation. Now one thing to understand is that it's not really a direct correlation between engine size and the amount of fuel that is used because engine design differs greatly which effects engine efficiency. Usually smaller displacement engines are more focused on good fuel economy with lower power numbers, whereas large displacement engines are more focused on power rather than fuel economy. 👍

@ReignitedAuto
@ReignitedAuto Год назад
It has everything to do with the efficiency of the engine design. Just because an engine is capable of moving a certain amount of air every cycle doesn't mean it does so. Some designs are inherently more efficient than others. Additionally that's why forced induction engines can make so much power, they are forcing more than 100% efficiency through the engine. 👍
