How does map pilot compared to litchi? I believe litchi can fly mapping patterns but also can be set up to do much more complex Maneuvers with changing radii and altitudes and all kinds of stuff. Can map pilot do that also? I'm trying to figure out which one to start learning that will allow me to do mapping and also program creative cinematic flights. If one is better than the other for a particular purpose I'd love to know that. Thank you!
Good video. Can you do one on planning a large L shaped (long but not rectangular) mission? I can't get M.P. to fly that as efficiently "within my mapping area" bundaries, as other apps. It always wants to fly a square (ie over land I DON'T want to map). The moveable Home Point is a very important tool too. Do you explain that in another of your videos?
Are you still using it? I am new to this mapping thing and a friend had 100 acres he wants me to map. Nothing 3d just a normal map stitched together. I have an idea of how to do the map but I am just looking for the best free or cheep (not extortionate) app to take the photos. I have downloaded pix 4d but MME might do the job just as well or maybe better. I have about 5 days to decide on what I will use, I would be grateful if you can share any of your experience or tips. What would you recommend for just the photo capture? MME looks great although the version I downloaded seems to want me to pay for absolutely everything, I have a budget of £0 so I just need the basics. I will probably get the save missions and active connect as that seems to be vital is there anything else I should pay for.
On that I'm unsure Jake. I have avoided using terrain awareness after an experiment in the Granite Dells (granite rock formations, cliffs, canyons) as I had issues aligning images for a model after trying it out. It's often experimentation. If you could do a small test area with and without it you'll probably have a quick answer. And let me know what you find.
Good morning. Yes you can import KML files to MapPilot. Good video! How do you handle flying a mission at say 125' AGL but you have a cell tower close to 200' that you need to completely miss. It would be so nice if you could add in "manual geo-fenced area" in the mapping missions to miss a structure that is not critical to the map but totally is in the way. I have always used Pix4D capture but trying to switch over to MME. I had this very situation yesterday and trying to draw the mission around this tower did not work well at all. I also wish you could easily insert a point between to existing points but that does not seem to be the case. Thanks for any feedback.
I know this could be achieved with multiple missions but I want to do one mission :) I can use Pix4D pretty well to miss structures (especially closer to the perimeter. But MME did not adjust the flight paths when I had points that went up and around the structure.
Greetings a question I want to make a flight planning on an area where there are rocky peaks where I need to use the elevation data but I get a message that says Terrain data is not available for this location. Terrain data is only available between 60 north latitude to south latitude. Then there will be some option to load data from a DEM since since in terrain aware there is that option.
On the latest incarnation of Map Pilot you can change the angles. When setting up the mission, and with the drone connected click on the top menu area. There will be a menu slide down and you'll see a camera icon. Click that icon and you'll see where you can adjust the angle.
