Autoptimize Remove Render Blocking JavaScript & CSS (Does It Really Work)

Honestly when ppl have no idea what to do with the optimization and just see the enable/disable and test buttons.... The idea of autoptimize is to minify and combine the assets of your site (css/js/fonts etc) and depeding on the website, it may or may not help you. For example, if your website is large and uses a lot of different resources, combining all of them would certainly block the rendering of your document, but if the optimization is done right and the necessary assets excluded, the plugin can be indeed really helpful.

My sight scores showed improvement when I deactivated W3 Total Cache....I think the plugins are bumping heads so I use Autoptimze alone now.....I would suggest using one or the other vs both.

Don't think I agree, but then again I'm biased as I'm Autoptimize's developer. But there are some serious shortcomings in your setup & test methodology, let me know if ever you'd want to revisit this topic :-)

I think you are having other optimization issues, because whenever I add critical css, I see significant boost in load speed. It is interesting you see nearly nothing.

I started at a Mobile - 9 and Desktop - 36, followed your steps and am now at a Mobile - 69 and Desktop - 73. At least some progress! The only step I was not able to complete was the critical CSS portion due to the below error which I have been led to believe requires contacting my host (BlueHost) for permissions? It works when you have plugin in browser otherwise not.
