Yours and Chris' strength is you keep everything so simple 🙂 If you want some extra distance at Brean, try Tom Bagnall's bar rig - I find it casts further than a pulley
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Cheers ian I will look it up though to be honest except around high tide I generally just flick the bait out … the sea usually comes racing in and it’s always worth dropping in quite short especially for the bass. Ps…. We keep it simple because we get easily confused 😂😂😂cheers ian

@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi Graham glad you enjoyed the video…. If the tide is below 10.5 m you can park on the beach above the high tide mark the sand is firm. In winter I think it’s free?? We generally park opposite Brean village hall on the grass verge and walk to beach to the right of the hall it’s only 100 yards. Cheers ian

Really enjoyed your videos, very informative and engaging. Might even be tempted to venture away from my local patch near Bournemouth to try Brean which I’ve never fished before. When I lived in Bath many years ago I did fish Burnham a few times but only ever seemed to catch conger, many of a chunky size but the variety of species in your video certainly makes for interesting fishing.
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi David certainly Brean this time of year can throw up a variety of species! You can only fish it for 3 hours up to high so you would need a low water mark to make the trip worthwhile I think! Thanks for watching cheers ian
@davidburgess2354
@davidburgess2354 Год назад

@Mister0String Год назад
Thanks for sharing Ian. Not many marks provide the bait as well as the fish. Gotta love that free fishing. I'm surprised that the beach is that productive given how shallow it is. I have only fished Berrow this year for a whiting when targeting codling. If you don't mind me asking, do you park near the cafe or by the side of the road? Slack lines in tight times. Paul
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi Paul glad you enjoyed the video! Yes very shallow water but the sand/ mud holds loads of shrimp which the fish are usually full of especially when the wind stirs it up! We park on the verge opposite Brean village hall and walk via a cut through just to the right. The lug dug straight off the beach outfishes anything else I think and as you say it’s all free!! Result!! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment cheers ian

Great video. Notice you always dig your own worm and just wondered what type of fork you use. Doesn’t look like a garden fork to me? Where did you get it from. Plan to try Brean this season for codling.
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi there it’s the cheapest fork available from a general supplier locally called Proper Job…. We break about 3 a year!!! I’m sure that you can spend a lot of a quality one but ours certainly isn’t 😂😂😂 Lug dug from the beach easily outfishes any other bait even shop bought lug. Good luck when you give it a go!!!! Very cool video I would be happy with the rays at the moment, we haven’t had the luck on the codlings too much so far but it’s good to see them slowly appearing on this side of the channel now so great video again, can I ask one question though please, is it possible to use the bait pump I got last Xmas from my lovely wife on brean beach? She keeps asking why I haven’t used it yet 😂
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi lovely to hear from you! Glad you enjoyed the video. I saw an angler using one at Brean this year he got plenty of lug but some were broken… he put it into the depression the lug made… it certainly looked less painful than digging but there was an art to it for sure. Hi Ian, what rods and reels are you using please?
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi mark!! In this video and my Bristol Channel fishing I use Anyfish anywhere 6+bait / 4+bait rods one with a slosh30 and the other a penn 525. On Chesil I use a pair of Penn rampage surf 15’9” rods and a pair of penn casting specials. The slosh is very useful on venues like Brean as it holds over 300 yards of line … great for a long walk back on the big spring tides!!! Cheers ian
@markJohnson-fn2ru
@markJohnson-fn2ru Год назад
@@ianclarkfishing Ah, thanks for that Ian. I thought the rods looked different on Chesil. I've just acquired a Penn xtr 15"8' and a couple of Penn fathom casting specials for down there. On Berrow I use a zziplex and a Veals Channel special. Loving the videos. Hopefully see you on the beach one day!!

one day down at Bacton while fishing, there was a guy came down with a sack to collect sea weed for his garden, ive never seen an angler move it and i do wonder why you didnt fish nearer the sea with your rods tips high and move back with the tide
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Well John on a relatively big tide like that with a wind behind it the sea moves almost at walking pace for about two hours…. If you set up by the sea you would be moving your gear every 5 minutes or so! We set up maybe 30-40 yards back initially then move as the sea gets close … even so we move probably 6 or more times in a 3 hour session. I hope that explains our reasoning. Thanks for watching cheers ian

@johnkay7354 Год назад
@@ianclarkfishing yes we have sandy beaches in norfolk, i try to keep close and keep the line out of the breakers, sorry i didnt think you had much wind off the water on either day and you said it was a small tide, im sure that the dog walkers around norfolk do not like line all over the beach, its bad enough when they have to walk under it, maybe ours are more violent, just wish we had the fish up here

Why are you so far away from the water don't understand?
@ianclarkfishing
@ianclarkfishing Год назад
Hi there the tidal range in the BC is so large and the beaches shallow so on the flood the water comes up the beach very quickly. If you put your rods right by waters edge you would be moving every 5 minutes so we set up 40 yards back and move when tide reaches us. Hopefully that explains it cheers ian
