15:00 Tobias Sammet has been trying to get Bruce Dickinson to guest vocal on an Avantasia album for years because that's his personal hero, but sadly he hasn't gotten him yet. I seen Avantasia on tour last year, they put on a 3 hour show by themselves without an opening act. Best show ever!

Quick explainer: Avantasia began as a side project by Tobias Sammett, lead singer of German Power Metal band Edguy...his idea was to make a metal opera telling a story with different singers...and thus, Avantasia was born...it is like the Power Metal equivalent of Ayreon...actually Tobias played a character in Ayreon's last album...the first two albums were the Metal Opera pts 1 and 2, they tell a story...and then came the Wicked Trilogy, which is conformed by The Scarecrow, The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon... I haven't listened to the three last albums post 2010...this band is a dream come true to any Power Metal fan...and that long haired huy with the super powerful voice is Jorn Lande, one of the best vocalists ever imo...

Avantasia is just brilliant!!! It is Tobias Sammet's baby. He created it over twenty years ago in the late 90's. He has had many amazing special guests on every single album like Michael Kiske, Kai Hansen, Jorn Lande, Alice Cooper, Eric Martin, Dee Snider, Russell Allen, Tim Owens, Andre Matos, and many more. You should check out the song Sign Of The Cross. It is another amazing song.

You gotta listen to the whole album. It's one of the best concept albums ever, with amazing guests and awesome story.

The Legendary Jorn Lande on Vocals, and the Maestro Miro on Keyboards. And Felix on Drums. The Scarecrow is a real Scarecrow. He wished to be real, and Devil/Faust makes a deal with him, and the Scarecrow becomes real and falls in love while reaching for fame. Of course the Woman rejects him. And the Devil/Faust tells him how makes people winners. And basically tries to make this Scarecrow a winner. He does eventually go to a Psychologist who has never had to deal with a real life scarecrow, and tries to treat him. Along the way Angels do try to point him in the right direction, and Faust always tempts him to follow his direction. Vin & Sori you need to watch more Avantasia songs. Best band ever... From here to eternity

Avantasia is metal opera (hard rock thrown in), multiple singers - the last album had Geoff Tate (Queensryche). All of their albums are concept records. This particular story spans 3 albums (Scarecrow, Angel of Babylon, Wicked Symphony). The main singer is Tobias Sammet who is the lead singer of the power metal band Edguy. This is his project and started with The Metal Opera 1 and2. The other albums are The Mystery of Time and Ghostlights. The latest album is Moonglow and he's already working of another album as we speak! Side note: I think that Nuclear Blast does not block music videos. Avantasia, Nightwish, Sabaton, Dream Theater. None of those videos have been blocked.

Remember the names: Tobias Sammet (the mastermind of AVANTASIA) and Jorn Lande. The two leading voices in all of Heavy metal next to Bruce Dickinson. The dark haired guitar man is Sascha Paeth, a legendary German guitarist and producer with a hand in almost every eminent Teutonic metal release of the past 30 years. The bald guitar player is, I think, Oliver Hartmann, himself a singer of no mean ability, having fronted several bands (AT VANCE comes distinctly to mind). Truly the German / Nordic all-star cast. And on the backing vox you could see a glimpse of blond hair that could only belong to the American diva Amanda Somerville (unless she has a twin :)), a name everyone would do well to check out more. She is, typically, more well known in Europe than in the US. (?!?)

I´ve seen them on the Ghostlights-Tour at the Rockharz Open Air, Ballenstedt, Germany. I was standing in the first line in the crowd and it was so so soooo good! I can recommend to go to one of the concerts!

My favorite theme from Avantasia.

The leader and mastermind behind Avantasia is a guy called Tobias Sammet (the 1st vocalist in this song). He also has his own band Edguy a German power metal band who also do epic stuff like this and have been going since the late 90s. The Avantasia project started in the early 2000s as a rock opera idea with many guest vocalists and musicians which is still ongoing. Most of these albums are concept ones. The Scarecrow was their 3rd album and the first of a trilogy. Great review... check out Pharoah by Edguy

Sascha Paeth, the red/beige guitar lead with the camo pants is quite possibly the most notable and influential person in power/symphonic metal in recent history - amazing musician/producer, he's played in and produced some of the very best albums in the genre with bands like Angra, Rhapsody, Kamelot, Epica, After Forever and many others, the guy is incredibly talented and deserves all the praise he gets and much more. Without him and his band Steeltower the newer wave of power metal alongside Helloween, Grave Digger and a couple others may have been far different and many of the huge bands (the aforementioned ones he works with and others) we see today may not be where they are.

Very cool pick! As a power metal, prog metal, traditional, whatever for 30 years (YES STATESIDE!!) Avantasia, Ayreon, Nightwish, Symphony X, Iced Earth, etc. are household names to me and friends of mine but always fun to see someone discover these bands that have been doing it for decades. It looks like you need to see more Jorn Lande, so much to discover! Avantasia is like Ayreon, always concept releases with lots of guest musicians. I am going to have to get into this patreon thing! I can't even think of a proper song to introduce Jorn Lande, this was a good one. Maybe Jorn fronting Sabbath, well Heaven and Hell at that point singing a classic DIO era tune. Just to prove his pipes!

The guitarist and producer Sascha Paeth won some awards in Germany for the production of this record which is just fantastic. I was at that show and it was awesome! He worked with a UK band called TRIBE after the scarecrow record. They have a song called ‘ghost ballet’ you’d absolutely love. Yes I was in that band 😂

JORN F'n LANDE! Jorn - Song for Ronne James He did an entire album covering different songs from Dio's career, and wrote that song as a tribute. As someone called him below "the spiritual son of Ronnie James Dio." He is DEFINITELY in that league!

A year late and $.05 short; the Scarecrow actually does make the deal with the devil, whom is promising fame and fortune. It goes great for a while but eventually things fall apart and he confronts the devil - on the song “Another Heaven” on the third album of this trilogy.

Avantasia, I love them. Such great albums. Ayreon has the same concept as Avantasia. Tobias Sammett, the composer of Avantasia sings on an album of Ayreon and Arjen Anthony Lucassen, the composer of Ayreon, plays a solo on an Avantasia album. You really should look at the latest live concert of Ayreon: The electric castle and other tales. Or the previous live concert: Ayreon Universe live. Epic metal songs and ballads. Simone Simons, Epica, sings on the last concert and Floor Jansen and Marko Hietala on the first one. See Wikipedia for the very well known metal musicians that participated.

fyi..Avantasia are a side project of frontman Tobias Sammet,his main band is Edguy,a lot of the singers and musicians in the band are also in other bands so touring is a bit of a logistical nightmare having to get as many of them free to go on tour at the same time ,but it is a big event when they do get together,so many great artists on one stage,Jorn Lande,Micheal Kiske,Amanda Somerville,Bob Catley and so many others

I love Avantasia. In this case the album version sounds better because his voice is much clearer. You can call this metal opera. Ayreon is another band from this genre. There are two live concerts. Ayreon Universe Live is with Floor and Irene Jansen and also Marko from Nightwish. Hansi from Blinded Guardian and many others. The last one, Into the electric castle and other tales is with Simone Simons and Mark Janssen from Epica, Fish from Marillion and many others.

This band do 3 hour live shows. Haven’t seen these live yet but I plan to at some point :)

Did you listen to any of Tobias Sammets original band Edguy? He started waaay early writing songs, Edguy was started when he was 14. The very early stuff is a little rough around the edges production wise but at around Vain Glory Opera is where at least I think they found their stride. Its an amazing album! I'd recommend the song Theater of Slavation from the album with the same name thou. Have a happy metal day! (its every day btw)

The mighty Jorn Lande. Some call him the european Dio. Amazing singer. This is a great song. Avantasia can be hit or miss but with the right guest singers its pretty great. Sign of the Cross is probably my favorite from Avantasia. Awesome singers on that one. I dunno about the bass player but the bald guitarist I think is Oliver Hartmann. An amazing singer in his own right (and incredible guitarist) who used to sing and play guitar for At Vance. On the studio version he didn't sing on this song. But the studio version also featured Michael Kiske (Helloween) who wasn't on this particular live version.

Hey Vin that last set of Lyrics you were saying is from the Song "I Don't Believe in Your Love." The Scarecrow is visited by an Angel, the Angel of Lust. The Scarecrow looks back and doesn't believe he was ever in love, and that it was Lust. And The Angel of Lust tells him how sometimes love is evil, because its Lust confused as love. "I Don't believe in your Love, Tread on this bed of roses. I Don't believe in your Love, Don't give a fuck for roses" There's more to this story with, "The Story Ain't Over" with the Incredible Bob Catley & "What Kind of Love" with the amazing Amanda Somerville
