I felt sad for Zuko but Katara had every right to be angry and suspicious. She trusted him first, when noone else did, and he betrayed her before.

This episode is the peak of Emo Zuko and I love it “WHY AM I SO BAD AT BEING GOOOOOOOD!?!?!”

I love how Toph supported Zuko. As crazy it seems, Toph nvr witnessed Zuko doing anything bad to them, only good things from Iroh. He even helped them fight azula. Most of Zuko’s shenanigans against the Team Avatar was in season 1, when Toph wasn’t there. I love the continuity of this show

I like the moment when Zuko says he can teach how to control firebending is the moment that Aang realises it's a good idea, cuz not controlling it and hurting people (like Katara) is his fear with firebending.

Something I find interesting to think about is that Aang is technically Zukos great great grandfather!

katara's reaction is only consistent with her character -- she is motivated emotionally and while that means she is kind and trusting most of the time, she tends to be very hurt and angry when betrayed. Remember how mad she got at Jet when he showed up, how mad she got At Her Own Father even though she KNEW WHY her father had to go. It's just in her nature to feel a lot for people and therefore easily hurt. It was a bit over the top yes but we all know that her anger has more reasons than ba sing se but i won't spoil it

I remember the first time I watched this show I thought Katara was being too much and I found myself disliking her, but then I thought of the last time she trusted Zuko easily and it resulted on Aang's life almost coming to end. I love the real take this show goes for. Same thing they did with Toph's arrival. It was pretty rough start. Can't wait for the following episodes. ❤️

Katara is VERY protective of the people she loves, and reluctant to forgive the people who hurt them. We see it a little bit with Jet when she finds out he captured Sokka, and of course, we see her in full revenge mode in the Southern Raiders.

I prefer you four for the last air bender! It just feels right if that makes sense. And as you said, it's easier to focus with smaller groups also. (:

I love that moment when Katara is fully ready to cut Zuko's head off at the end.

It's easy for us as the audience to sympathize with Zuko and want them to accept him because we've seen his whole side of the story. But for the gaang to not trust him and to be so quick to make the decision not to trust him is completely justified from their personal experiences. Aang and Katara both had a moment with Zuko where they saw his humanity and that he was capable of good, and he made the choice to turn on them both times. The second time, Aang literally died. So I wouldn't say they're being harsh or unreasonable at all.

I can't express how much I love the Western Air Temple. Probably my favorite ATLA setting. Oh, and don't worry, we love the Normie squad! It's just more intimate and personal with the Cozy 4!

When Chris and Marketa walked in, I about fell out! 😂😂😂😂😭 I felt the awkwardness all the way in Australia through the screen. When you get together with some friends and you don’t tell others...but then you run into the ones you didn’t tell is the most awkward thing ever lol it’s all g tho.

I've seen the comics tho, its say a lot why Katara can't forgive Zuko that fast. Well, when Katara is healing Aang after Azula struck her with lightning, she's having doubts to herself and her healing abilities because it's been weeks and Aang is not waking up. She's healing (Aang), waiting and suffering at the same time.

I always hated it that Aang refused to have Zuko as a teacher but then i forgot he was still a kid and Zuko did betray them. Plus, he actually didnt want to learn firebending bc of wat he accidently did, not the person who taught him. Also, can just say that puberty hit him hard since 3x1? He's more mature now

If you think about it, the order of the "Zuko field trips" is also the order of difficulty in gaining trust from each character: Field trip 1) Aang (easy) feels unsure about Zuko Field trip 2) Sokka (medium) does not trust Zuko, but holds no personal grudge Field trip 3) Katara (hard) hates Zuko for betraying her trust and wants nothing to do with him

I don't know why, but I found myself crying really hard after Zuko finally got accepted into the group and fully realized his true-self. I especially got emotional when Zuko looked at the picture of Iroh and had a flashback. I guess it's because of everything he's been through and the struggles he had to face in order to finally call back his old self. His good self. I think it's the most human part of the show, and one of the reasons why I love and still enjoy Avatar The Last Airbender to this day. Anyway, I just wanted to share this..Loving your reactions Normies. It's gonna suck when I reach the last ATLA reaction video of yours. :)

Who would’ve guessed in Episode 1, when Zuko tries to capture Aang, that Zuko would not only stop trying to catch the Avatar, but become his firebending TEACHER? The character development is flawless in ATLA.

From the Gaang's perspective, Zuko joining the group was an extremely hard sell. Their asses are still sore from getting whooped in the invasion, they know their parents are likely dead, and now the Avatar equivalent of Hermann Goring has just sauntered up to them saying "hey I'm good now can I join you?" I don't know many people who wouldn't have thrown him off the cliff before he could even get his greeting out.

I love how he comes in, and just lays it all out there. Just "i was bad. Ive changed, but i realized i was awful." And even bringing up appa isnt to mitigate or justify the bad, its to try and show his change. And then even after they reject him, hes angry at himself, not them. Because its 100% their right to be not okay and to not forgive. And THATS what humility is.

You four took this journey together, and I'd love to see you finish it together.

I don’t blame Katara for being strict on Zuko because he did try to kill her and Aang before. Soon they will be able to easily trust each other now that he is sincerely humble. I do appreciate the motherly role Katara plays to Aang, Toph, Sokka and her loved ones as she does not want to see anyone get hurt.

Zuko was right. Finding the avatar did restore his honor. He was going about it the wrong way without knowing this whole time.

Katara may come across as harsh here but remember, the last time she trusted Zuko he stabbed her in the back, Aang was killed by Azula (the fact that he was revived doesn't change what happened) and the Earth kingdom fell.

If you guys rewatch The Beach episode (where sparky sparky boom man first attacks the Gaang) you can see that Toph is the first to sense them. He attacked in this ep because toph's feet got injured so her sensory abilities were inhibited. He was waiting for her to let her guard down

they all should have also considered more the fact that he wasn't lying. it always annoys me so much that Toph could sense that everything he said was true but only talked about the fact that he was telling the truth when he said he had freed Appa, so they just ignored the fact that everything he told them was true. Also exactly it was a reflex, it was Toph's fault for sneaking up to him like that while he was sleeping, she should have clarified that point.

I must admit, I felt a bit let down when you made it a huge group setting for the last two reactions for the day of black sun. So glad you made it more intimate for this one again. Please, keep it this way for the rest!
