Great review Sir. He's done it folks, finally. I couldn't be more happier after seeing this video's thumbnail. Since 3D DVD's are drastically declined, 3D reviews are rare to be found even for The mighty Avatar: The way of water.
Out there, there are lot of people who always want perfection 4K, check in the black levels, brightness on skin tones, skin pores, cloth textures and dolby atmos 7.1.2 height channels blah... blah... blah... But this man is out there is so delighted with his 1080p optoma projector and 5.1 simple audio set up not really caring about those freakin' extra pixels. Because the satisfaction that a 3D movie gives is undelible and unmatchable even with "Flat" 8K. I do understand that art is subjective to induvidual but I still cannot comprehend what on earth makes my friends choose flat 4K over 3D 😂
This one is an absolute 3D masterpiece. I'm so incredibly thankful we got this release and I hope all the Avatar films come out on 3D BD. Saw it 48fps dolby, 24fps imax and both were good but I need these at home for the future. Awesome review Tommy!
Seen Avatar The way of Water in 3D at the cinema and it was great. Couldn't wait for it to come out on blu ray 3D. Seen it this Sunday and it look better at home then at the cinema. Luv how it takes up the whole screen.
Good review as usual. This is now my new demo disc that I use to show people how good and immersive 3D can look at home, particularly the last 25-30 minutes or so.
BTW, for those who like the movie to pause in 3D you can still get it to do it even with Disney / Marvel/ Avatar movies. You simply have to manipulate the center button up and down on your Blu-ray player remote and push the down button several times and it will return to 3D where it will stay there until you're ready to restart the movie which is really good on Avatar 2 because the 3D is so astounding! And once again Tommy, we all really like your 3D reviews!
Excellent review. I agree with you there, the 3D is probably the best I've ever seen in a film ever. And if the home release is better than the theatrical version, I can only imagine how great it'll look on my projector. I've had the 3D Blu-ray release for quite a while now, but I've just been busy with other 3D films to really put it on. At the theater, I saw this one in 4DX and not only was the 3D superb, but the seats moved, you got water, scent, and strobe effects, and more. I remember when we left, and sometimes to this day when we bring up the film, my brother who's a few years younger than me said during the underwater scenes, he actually found himself holding his breathe and even nearly passed out. I thought it was the 4DX seats kicking in. But seeing how you had a similar experience, I guess the 3D itself was just that good. Anyways, thanks for getting this review out. It seems like your back issues are finally clearing up, praise the LORD. P.S. You know, I actually reviewed the first Avatar movie in 3D twice, once at home and once at the theater last year for its re-release. So it's pretty cool to see someone else do something similar.
@@the3ddinosaur87 Because Ive been reading your blogs in a while and they're precise yet detailed . Nice breakdown of 3d , Final verdict, other ytube vid links, movie review on point, yes or no pole. Bought rise of the guardians based on your review and "Great" verdict because it was available for 3 dollars in my country.....had a blast on saturday movie night ....had a steal deal.
I also own this movie on 3D Blu ray. I have watched it once at home on my home cinema system and definitely thought the 3d looked better than at the cinema. I saw it twice at the cinema back in January, both times in 3d. Once in a IMAX cinema, we could see pixels on the image and we were sat 3/4 back from the screen! The second time at a Dolby Atmos screen, the picture was sharper but surprisingly the sound wasn't as good!?🧐
Saw this movie in 4D with my friends. We were impressed by the visuals but unfortunately were being shaken around by uncomfortable seating to really enjoy that aspect of the movie. You made me consider giving it a re-watch at home. Aside from the visuals we were heavily disappointed by the story elements and thought it really fell flat. The reasons for leaving the village were entirely unreasonable as they had an entire army capable of taking on the small amount of adversaries sent out after them. On top of that by leaving their home they decided that putting an entirely separate village disconnected from the war in extreme danger. We disliked Spider and his moral choices as they were very contradictory to what his character was all about. We also found the final conflict a bit disappointing as the same thing occurred 5 or 6 times with the characters doing nothing to prevent the situation. Overall i would give the visuals a 8/10 the 4D experience a 4/10 and the story a 3/10
Be still my beating heart, we’re still getting Blu Ray 3D. That’s a sight to behold. A bit depressing it’s on two discs, but I get it. I just want this format to survive.
I went hard on 3D Home Theater tech. I have a 55 inch Samsung Curved TV with 3D and this was the only model with 4K HDR support. I also have the 3D supported Soundbar with a subwoofer, and had the Samsung 3D Blu Ray player, but that didn’t support 4K HDR so I use my Xbox One now instead. I’ve watched pretty much every 3D blu ray to be released as I must say this one is unlike any one I’ve ever watched at home. This is undoubtedly the best home theater 3D Blu Ray ever!!!! I was trying to catch fish swimming around my room at one point. I had to see it twice in the theater because I couldn’t make it through it. It is wayyyy better at home. I give the 3D experience a 20 out of 10. Hopefully this revives the home theater 3D because it has a been being phased out. So if you were pondering getting this do yourself the favor and get it!!! It’s worth it and more!!!
Love the channel Tommy. I’m a 3D addict and I’ve never found a channel that actually covers movies and their 3D quality until now. I watch with my entire family (wife and I plus 4 kids) and we love 3D a lot. I got about 125+ movies with an Epson projector and 175” screen. Most 3D channels It’s always ppl showing their collections and nothing more. Keep it up, you got my Sub and now I’m watching through all your videos. Also love this new Avatar film in 3D….one of the best looking.
Great observation on watching at home. Wonder why. Its great that we get to examine this nuanced 3D at home. After all these years there's little to compare the 3D to. Maybe Hugo.
Another spot on review Tommy! The movie at home was better on my home theater also. Not so much that stuff came out into the room as it is the planet came out into the room and surrounded me very much like what you said with the water and whatnot. Anyway, I have a real question about your audio issue? On my home theater it always on every Blu-ray movie I've ever played automatically plays the best audio that's available and the case of Avatar's 7.1 it automatically played in 7.1 and you have to physically go into the menu to change it to a lesser audio such as 2.0. On my Denon home receiver it automatically plays it at the best possible setting also and uses the neural:x up mixer so that I get 9 channel discreet surround sound. Now I don't know what your audio setup is but it should still always select the best possible audio when you put it in your Blu-ray player. I don't know if this helps but I hope it does. Also, you did great work keep it up I like it when you are excited about a good 3D review!
Great movie I watched it at cinema in 3D a few times and I think I own two physical copies with blu ray 3D a little disappointing 3D hasn't came back yet and its a little disappointing that psvr2 and ps5 doesn't have blu ray 3D support.
@@TommyBoy3D thank you, I bought the 3-D blu ray as well but didn’t get a chance to play it yet, now I know what to look out for when I have the same experience.
Hi Tommy, your enthusiasm is. Infectious! Nice review. It’s time to raid the piggy bank as the original Avatar has been remastered and available in a couple of weeks for us ‘consumers’, I’ve got one on order so I will watch both the Avatar films in sequence. I’ll let you know my thou😊ghts in due course! All the best for now.
This movie isn't much for pop-out effects but still it is a "Must-Have-In-One's-video library". All those water scenes across the movie is like watching a giant aquararium in living room. There are plenty of stick-outs. Any tiny creature in there is just floating in the room. Home DVD has an IMAX aspect ratio and looks slightly brighter and depths are a bit deeper(only a bit). You can ignore this home release if you've seen several times in theatres.
Sorry may you can help me, why I can't play the second Disc! The first disc plays with no problems, but the second Disc, i put it in, and they say movie begins from Start! (sorry for my Englisch)
I’m not a fan of the movie, it didn’t need to be 3 hours. I still purchased the 3D to support the format. Anyway Tommy hope you and yours are ok and doing well?
I know but someone told me years ago that they are not DVD's but Blu-ray disc's, so I have been correcting myself ever since. But you are right it is a DVD. 🙂
I was hoping James Cameron would raise the bar at home and finally give us 4k3d. The 3d visually was emersive but 1080p on projector is starting to show its age as opposed to 4k on projector.
Not possible unless all the corporations agree on a new standard and produce new displays and players. The Blu-ray/HDMI fame-packing standards don't support 4K 3D or 48fps in 3D or 2D, so we're basically stuck with 1080p24 for 3D films. It does support 3D 60fps at 720p but that's even more niche and mostly used for sports/video games haha
