In Jackie's introduction to this song she said, in response to critics who said she was ruining her voice singing classical songs as a child, "That made me mad. So I recorded Ave Maria (for her Awakening album), and that shut them up", LOL. She has been singing Ave Maria and many other classical songs, including opera for 14 years, and still singing with the vocal purity that has been her signature since age 10. This video was recorded from a live stream broadcast of her concert, "Jackie Evancho -My Story" at Feinstein's 54 Below in NYC on June 29, 2024. Thank you, Fans of Evancho.

Thanks for posting this. I recorded some of the show remotely, but missed this.

Jackie should actually sing better at 24 than at 14. In the classic profession, Jackie can't do it. Jackie has been clearly on the road in the direction of pop for years. Jackie wants it that way.

"Classic profession"? Jackie has never had classical training and has never been a professional classical singer. In fact she said, "What I love about my music is that it is almost solely instinctual". She can't read music, but has an innate understanding of music structure, harmony and rhythm, even orchestration, and a natural ability to adapt her voice to different genres effectively, perhaps the most versatile young soprano of this century. She sings with her signature purity possessed by very few, and in her own unique style. And her fans love it. That's all that matters to her. "I don't need everyone's approval", she says, "as long as I'm happy with the music I make and my fans love it, that's all I hope for". Jackie has been recording and performing pop covers since she was 8 years old when she recorded Prelude to a Dream. So, there's been no real "direction" about it, rather an integral part of her vast multi-genre repertoire. Actually classical crossover became her direction after AGT and has remained her genre. But, her direction now, "something I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember", is writing, composing and producing her own music, presently in Alternative Pop, which is not mainstream pop. Meanwhile, she continues to perform her CC repertoire in concert, as you see here.

@@cl9786 Blabla, that's all you write. Of course, Jackie has a classical voice, otherwise she wouldn't be able to sing Classical Crossover. You don't need any training to have a classical voice. To be a trained classical singer you need training, as the name suggests. When you sing in the church choir, for example, you sing with a classical voice. You write a lot of what Jackie can do in YOUR OPINION. You can't prove that. What kind of music has Jackie recorded in the last 6 years? No CC. Why does Jackie talk about transformation? Why does Jackie want to become known as an aternative pop/rock artist when she still does the old things? Jackie wants to play longer in front of old people who just sit around. Then the songs on Solla are pointless. These do not work that way. What sense would Solla and the transformation have if things continue as they have for years. Four concerts a year and that's it. In case you haven't noticed, these are basically the farewell concerts of the old Jackie. Once again, what sense does Solla and the whole promotion make if nothing changes. Why this kind of music if nothing changes. How many of the people who listen to Jackie because of Solla were in the concert.

@@P-pffrr Classical Crossover is a genre that came from classically trained opera singers such as Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras, Renee Fleming, Kathleen Battle, etc CROSSING OVER to singing pop songs......opera to pop....or classical to any other genre.. They sing pop with the same classical voice as they do opera. The point is that classical has been the foundation for crossing over to other genres. You seem not to understand that Jackie is an anomaly in the CC genre by virtue of the fact that she is not classically trained. She has therefore not "crossed over" from classical to pop or any other genre. She has just recorded/performed songs already established in the CC genre by other artists with her NATURAL voice. I didn't say Jackie has recorded CC in the past 6 years. However The Debut, released in 2019, is Broadway and considered a classical crossover album, hitting #1 on the Classical Chart. I said "she continues to PERFORM her CC repertoire in concert". Jackie refers to her "transformation era" as a time when she is now writing and composing her own music as an independent artist, unshackled from the major labels she depended upon in the past ("Get Out of My Life"), while still performing her classical crossover repertoire in concert, as she did in this concert at 54 Below. She performed Behind My Eyes and Consequences along with classical songs like Ave Maria and will continue to do so, perhaps incorporating other originals into future concerts. Many of her fans love both her cc and original songs, so no reason not to combine the two. Her concerts of late have been designed to offer something for everyone from opera to classical, to fan favorites and her own favorites, to Broadway, to pop covers and now her own music. She has a broad, diversified repertoire to draw from. Although she is working on a "Solla" tour, she has not said she "wants to become known as an alternative pop/rock artist". That's just "the way I write" (at present), she said. She said that her songwriting may be any genre in the future depending upon how she is inspired.. She wants to be known as a singer/songwriter/composer and producer of her own music however it may manifest. She is now acknowledged as such with "Solla". What I know is from what Jackie has said in Instagram videos/messages, Facebook and interviews....nothing made up. Furthermore, Jackie has demonstrated what she can do.....no guess work or opinion about it.

@@cl9786 Sarah Brightman is not a classically trained singer, she counts as the inventor of the CC, which of course is not quite true. Andrea Bocelli is not a classically trained singer either. Charlotte Church is also not a classically trained singer. You probably don't even know Helmut Lotti, just like most of these artists on this Website. www.last.fm/tag/classical+crossover/artists. There are thousands of singers who CC sing. There are also classically trained singers who don't make classical music but pop, country, rock etc. and they call it pop, country, rock etc. and not CC.

@@P-pffrr "There are thousands of singers who CC sing." That's right, whether they are classically trained or not. CC encompasses a broad spectrum of genres. Jackie is simply a natural un-trained vocalist with an exceptionally pure and beautiful voice she can adapt to any genre she wants and does it extraordinarily well, whether it's classical, Broadway, jazz, country, folk, early or contemporary pop..... She has identified herself a classical crossover singer because, not wanting to be limited to any particular genre or style of singing, "pigeon-holed" as it were, it has suited her eclectic preferences.
