I like how you wrapped the paper around the screwdriver then rested it on the table. gives it a nice solid base for sanding without having to clamp the work piece.
Thanks, had to try 3 drivers to get the right size, but it ultimately worked really well I thought. But next time I'll just go straight to the small radius flap sanders on the die grinder, so much faster and easier, I was just being overly cautious with using power tools on this thing considering it cost and arm and a d!c%....LOL Just recorded an update video for this utility knife today, will do the editing and post in the next couple days.
Years ago I made a building for processing Titanium, also a huge table unit with a giant exhaust system for processing the Titanium on. Definitely the rough side of town, we came back after the weekend and there was a bullet hole in the building before we even had it finished.
I fixed mine with some #0 washers under the top layers and now it actually operates. I’m sure this looked good on paper but the tolerances are wrong. Rookie mistakes in my opinion. The material thicknesses were probably slightly under what he was aiming for on paper
I just found your channel after watching one or two others review the cutter. I like your take on it best. You have inspired me to take mine apart and do a better job on the fit and finish. I'm also going to try propane instead of MAPP gas. (if I can find some,,, I got hooked on the MAPP heat a while back for copper plumbing). I carried mine in my pocket for a week or so after assembly and noticed the screws loosening. Two came out and disappeared. Now it is out of pocket and waiting for the refinish and reassembly, this time with a drop of blue lock-tite for each screw. Thanks for all of your helpful hints. A lot of the joy of owning this is the assembly process, some of it is in the using of the thing. It is not for everyone, that's for sure.
Hey thanks. I'm gonna do an update vid soon for the knife, and I've also picked up about 10 different brands of blades and am planning a "best 25mm blade" video.
Very cool and will probably last a lifetime. I never used a snap blade knife before. I guess I thought the blade would be weak and break off when using it.
Should last a long time, I used to think the same way about the snap blades. But I have since found them very handy. No sharpening, blades last longer, and several times now I've found having the longer blade invaluable (like cutting 2" xps foam board).
I thread locked the tiny screws, was thinking of super gluing them, did you fix yours? Done the corners so its not sharp, but everything else really needs cleaning up. Also, lube with cycle chain lube, stays in place for longer
I wasn't planning on any lube, but after a few days now, I'm either going to hit it with dry lube or a little chain lube. I'll do another video very soon about daily use and break in. Any suggestions for the video?
@@twosawacres8096 I think there is one screw missing, if the spacings are anything to go by. At the blade out end. Mine never worked well until I added the ptfe bicycle chain lube, just a dot on the blade lock and the base plate. Not cleaned mine up completely yet
I'm willing to bet I was in the first 10-50 people to get on board when the first vijayo aired and was still wet behind its ears. I don't recall AVE mentioning anywhere in it that it would come as a kit. I like Ave, I like almost all of his yootoobs, I like most of his stuff, and even own a bunch of his stickers. This little gem of his should have spent a bit longer on the drawing board, and a felines hair or two longer in the R&D dept. All I wanted to do was help him get this thing off the ground and get a super costly, cool, skookum as frig box knife. Had I known I was gonna be responsible for the fit and finish of this thing, I would have giggled myself all the way to the homeless dope center, and bought a half case of Husky's or Dewalts knowing I'd just avoided yet another friggin' time bandit sitting on my bench. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but IMO, he missed the mark here big time. For starters, how in the hell did he miss the spring clip? This thing is way too heavy, with its bizarre and odd angles to be floundering around all day in my pocket jamming into the "Boys". I'm getting on in years, and have lost a great deal of hand strength, but after watching numerous videos with guys easily half my age wrestling with two hands, a teenager and a hammer to operate this totally un-ergonomic thing, all I can really say after spending a number of very cautious hours putting it together, my disappointment level is choochlessly high.
@glenn5189 yes, was thinking I would email to ask the size and buy locally in UK, but luckily had the right amount. Won't ever take knife apart though and I have thread locked the screws too
3hours!! I think I heard a little tension in your voice during assembly lol. Nice job with taking care of the little details I blue metal laying it in wood or a pies of sheet metal The plier seem to change or absorb some the heat on the ends
The stainless stuff? I'd really like to see that. I've got an update video coming out in a few days, and am planning another one already to address the biggest problem I have with the knife (the spring gets bound with dirt/debris way too easy and locks up the slider)... Send me some photos of your stainless bluing, I'll add them to one of the videos. Email is: twosawacres@gmail.com.
@@twosawacres8096 ya I noticed that with the spring as well. Even as Lil as being in my pocket. And no I think the pieces with holes are also titanium. The stainless stuff I heated to straw color tho. Wish I could send yaa pic
I thought that too, but emailed ave, he said it could be months maybe for foreign mail, I said I can only wait until september, but then it came the next day !!!
