Check out what was in my Esthetician Kit from the Aveda Institute! I’m so excited to be sharing my journey with you guys. Follow me on Instagram: @minnyiscool
I’m supposed to be starting Rizzieri Aveda here in NJ in November(after giving birth in August) and I’m so excited because I’ve been wanting to go back for years now.
I’m not sure how it is in NYC, but here in New Mexico, we’re only allowed to do a maximum of 100 hours on distance learning and the rest has to be in class and in person. I think it’s great because it’s such a hands on career, it would be impossible to learn everything online. I would definitely ask! But I love it, I’m sure you would too!
I’m starting in April & im excited! Bur quick questions ? Sooo w all these products in the kits we bring all those things to school everyday ? And what if we run out of any of the products? Do they provide more for us or do we have to pay out of pocket ?
Hi! I was accepted to aveda in feb.2020 but turn it down 😥 I ended up going to a different school and i truly regret not going to aveda. I am trying to re enroll and start ASAP. I wanted to know about the class schedule. I onow everything is different now due to COVID. What does do attend class?
I start October 12th! First few weeks will be online for me too. Do they set up zoom meetings you have to attend or is it more like they assign you things to do that you do on your own time? Thanks and good luck in your journey!
If they haven’t changed anything, you’ll still attend class at the same times and same days just through a system similar to zoom. Make sure you have your iPad charger handy! Cause 8 hours of online school plus assignments are going to kill your battery. Good luck! I hope you love it as much as I do!
Did you learn the latest beauty trends like hydrodermabrasion, dermaplaning and microneedling?? Thank you so much for your video. I'm trying to decipher where to go to NIMA or Aveda :)
We are definitely going to learn dermaplaning and microneedling. But I don’t think my school has a hydrodermabrasion machine. Every Aveda location is different though, so your location may have one.
I just picked up my kit a few days ago and was trying to get into the like Aveda learning portal ? They didn’t give me a username and password to set up ? Did they give you one in the first few days of classes? It didn’t give me a option to make an account so I was wondering if you knew! If not I’ll definitely just call them and ask !! Thank you & I loved your video!!
Lina Mary hey girl, They started my class online, so I was given a username and password right away. It’s just the email you gave them and a temporary password. The last 2 days LearnAveda has been temporarily down though, so that could be why you can’t get in also. Good luck though! I hope you love it!
This was super helpful! I'm enrolling in the middle-end of the year after I move and CANNOT wait!! Hope you're doing well and staying safe, thank you for the great content❤️✨
You can go for either a cosmotologist or an esthetician! You do learn more makeup with the Esthi program though, and it’s less hours for school. Some school have a Editorial Program, where it’s strictly makeup and hair for runway looks and print. You should check it out!
Yes you do, we’re in class 3 days a week for 8 hours per day. You can leave early if you need to, but you cannot show up late. And if you leave early too often, it can push your graduation date too far back that you’ll have to graduate with a different class. There are classes for different days though, my class is Monday-Wednesday. But my school also has classes Tuesday-Thursday and Thursday-Saturday. Every school is different though, so I would talk to the advisors at your location.
I am currently looking into attending aveda. I am stuck on what to write for my personal statement on the application. What are some tips for this part of the process. I am not the best writer when it comes to things like this.
Cassidy Barnette hey girl, for mine it was called a letter of intent. On that, I just gave a very brief summary about my childhood and how it shaped my work ethic. And then how I found out I wanted to be an esthetician after my first facial. I went in depth on how it sparked something in me and I knew that it was the right career choice for me because I will always be learning and there will be something new everyday. I hope that helps! If you have any more questions feel free to message me :)
i am from India i will just graduate in 2 months (commerce). i am thinking of going to a cosmetology school as i think this is my passion but there are no good cosmetology schools here. so is it worth coming all the way from India to join Aveda Institute. Also are there any pre requisite to get admission?
Abby s no, you don’t have to work for an Aveda salon when you graduate. You can if you’d like, but many other salons and spas will hire Aveda students.
How do you feel about your school? I’m currently at Arlingtons location and it’s so disorganized and they definitely scammed us cause we paid 1800$ for our kits and got no products, and half the tools you got😭 but hey we got our iPads lol
I’m so sorry to hear that! I still really love my school, of course there’s things that have happened due to the pandemic that are frustrating, but overall organization and experience has been really good for me. I have another video on my experience with the first 300 hours if you wanna check that out.
You will use things like your brushes, iPad, and jade rollers at school. You get to keep the products like cleanser, toners, moisturizer for use at home. Aveda provides you with the products you’ll use on clients at the school.
Luckily you don’t have to take the products to class with you, so everything else fits in your kit perfectly. I take a backpack with my books, and then have my kit strap across my body so it’s pretty easy moving around with everything to get to school.
That’s really unfortunate! Maybe I got product because I started during the pandemic? I know that the kit will vary state to state and school to school depending on where you’re attending. But it sucks that you didn’t even get a cleanser.
Jennifer Rodriguez Aw okay! I did full time and I’m ngl it was pretty bad... the first 3 months in the classroom weren’t that great. The teacher i had wasn’t very attentive and would just read the slides on the board but she didn’t really teach us anything.when we would practice on each other, we would still end up with a lot of downtime. I had to pay 12,000 dollars and the kits we got were literally missing stuff and super cheap. Anyway when we moved upstairs we got our own rooms and it was a lot better. If you didn’t get scheduled clients you would still end up with a lot of down time so it can make u go a little crazy. Oh and btw they pretty much just teach you the Aveda way. Anyway I don’t think one person in my class liked this school but if it’s your dream just keep pushing through. Take really good notes and maybe buy some books to help you pass your exam. Also I do think sense they had so many complaints they are trying to change things.
