So basically the story behind “Exist” is the creation of the stars and planets through The Big Bang. The song starts off with the universe “at peace” and as the song goes on the instruments are the planets and stars being created as time goes on. Towards the middle where it’s silent and you hear faint guitar in the background is the planets and stars “talking” to each other and aligning themselves into their present form. Shadows lyrics are the earth and the world as we know it today and then Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s monologue at the end is his perspective of what the world has, is and may lead to be. IMO this is such a masterful song and really well laid out, even without lyrics you can just imagine everything going on and how the celestial bodies communicate with each other to create the galaxy and universe as we know it now. Of course not everyone will see it this way as we are all entitled to our own opinions on the creation of the universe and earth, but this is how it is portrayed from a scientific viewpoint.
Imagine my surprise when I see you’ve reacted to over 20 A7X songs and still haven’t reacted to Almost Easy. Get on it D-Gibby, you won’t be disappointed!!!
It's so hard to get through to staunch religious people who are not open to any opinion that differs from the one they've been taught to believe. You truly missed the concept of this song because you had a preconceived idea of what this songs meaning is. He's not speaking about religion. The only reference to GOD was the line where you shrugged at the camera like he doesn't know what he is saying. People DO KILL and GET KILLED in the name of someone elses concept of God. Since the dawn of time wars have been fought in the name of God. In reality, they weren’t fought for God at all. They were fought to defend or expand somebody’s version of God.
@@sebastiantorres1358 I guess most creationists are, I hope he actually looks in the comments for what we have to say because this comment and the one I posted with a link seem pretty important for him to see
he says he doesnt "believe" the big bang because it apparently just "popped up out of nowhere". so what does that mean god did then in his eyes? If god isnt apparently "human" then how did he create us in his image? so many stupid concepts that come along with religion
I wish more believers were able to not just shrug away anything they don't agree with and turn away from it. To me it shows they are not actually secure in their beliefs to even be comfortable engaging with someone with a different perspective.
There is an actual time line to the song that is out there. Big Bang.. hydrogen clouds colliding.. stars.. planets.. late heavy bombardment... eventually.. life.. with that info it gives the song a whole new dynamic.
I’m only commenting Bc I love sharing science with people. I hope you see this Gibby, and know I have no intention to sway your beliefs! We all have one and none are better than another’s. I’ll attempt to give a simplified/analogy-based explanation of the Big Bang. First know that the universe is expanding like (think of how when a grenade explodes the pieces expand outward with more distance in between each piece but combined the grenade pieces will take up more and more volume). so scientists have traced the expansion backwards to its origin-in theory it could be a “single point”, and then made a scientifically backed theory called the Big Bang. Tracing the universe backwards in time means it’s contracting. So the density (mass/volume) gets larger. Until the density becomes so great that every atom is under immense pressure. At great enough pressures, this would mean the entire universe was once pure energy. At these pressures, i.e. temperatures, energy can move between matter and energy freely. When energy converts to matter, it creates a matter and antimatter pair. When matter and antimatter collide they become pure energy again. However, there is a very very very (literally unimaginably) small chance that when energy becomes matter, it doesn’t create an antimatter pair (this is due to some complicated processes studied in particle physics but just know this happens). There’s more too the Big Bang and none of it really involves a Big Bang. It’s more like a domino effect, but when this event occurred, all the non paired matter is all the matter we can observe in the universe today. Obviously I’m no expert, not even close. But science doesn’t consider theories out of nowhere. In fact it’s the exact opposite. To this day scientists still test Einstein’s equations to find any error. Science, at least our level of science, also can’t explain everything. Which is why I believe there is a higher being (one that is the essence of most of the religious gods) who created the universe. That could mean creating the energy found at the theorized beginning, or some other way science can’t investigate yet. I respect anyone beliefs, and I don’t break that respect by saying this: Science doesn’t care about your beliefs because science relies on the strongest meaning of “truth” that we as humans know of. Which is why Einstein’s equations are still being tested, and is why theories such as the Big Bang aren’t to be taken as a fact, but rather a decent aiming point to continue focusing your scope on. I personally think if one’s religion means denying or changing science, then he and she should reconsider their beliefs. An all-knowing god wouldn’t ignore the very laws it created. I.e. young earth Christians. Anyway, if you read all of this, then I hope I was able to let you learn something or at least that you found this interesting! Sorry for such a long comment. Always love the videos DGibby!!
Christians always sayin "how does everything that exists just pop up from nothing" when their religion is the only thing claiming it just magically popped up because god did it. but when asked how god even came to existence the answer is always "he's just always existed". You wanna say the big bang makes no sense because you're so caught up in religion based on faith, but honestly it takes more faith to accept we are just emotional beings that evolved from the big bang that resort to things like religion because we are very conscious of death and want to find ways to feel comfortable about dying. I will never understand the guilt religion pushes on humans for simply existing (sin) that they need to seek forgiveness from something that not everybody even gets a chance to know about before they die. ^ my insight
Totally agree, and he says Jesus is the only perfect human to have walked this earth??? Jesus was hanged on the cross, by people who didn't like what jesus was going around and lying to people about. And they where right, religion plays a big role when it comes to conflicts and wars around the world. Those people who hang jesus was much better, couse they knew what was coming. "In the old days" there was a subject in Norway's schoolsystem (i live in Norway) dedicated only to Christianity, its so selfish. Like, i don't wanna learn about some thoughts of a man that lived 2021 years ago. Science has proof for the facts they put on the table, even experiments you can do yourself. The day religion comes with proofs and evidence for why they're right, i might change my mind.
It doesn't take any faith to believe we evolved into the emotional beings we are. The theory of evolution is one of the most supported scientific theories out there and is without a shadow of a doubt true. People can argue all day about it, but it's true and doesn't require even a modicum of faith.
I think just like people lives, you evolve throughout your life, I think God created everything but he let things evolve just like we do. If that makes any sense.
Oh goodness please don’t ruin this song/reaction with close minded arguments based on religion. Your arguments were so easy to poke holes in at that....You are absolutely entitled to believe whatever you want and that’s awesome. But you’re so caught up in defending religion that you missed the entire point of the song. The narration at the end btw didn’t say anything false no matter what you believe. People do kill and get killed in the name of someone’s concept of who/what god is or should be. That’s just a fact. I say this with all due respect as I’m the one on your page always looking forward to your A7X reactions wether I agree with your opinions or not because at the end of the day, one thing we can always agree on is this is one hell of an instrumental banger.
Hello. Check out "Simulation" from the same album The Stage. That song has so many cool sound effects, especially when you have a good set of headphones. It's actually become my favorite song by them and it is just all over the place.
Brooks proved to us that he did not join A7x to replace Jimmy... He joined because they need a drummer that can be as crazy as Jimmy but can deliver something different at the same time. And this song just proves it. There's that Jimmy feel to it but at the same time there's that Brooks feel to it. It just shows us that Avenged Sevenfold can still do it. Everyone, not just Brooks, can still do their thing with Magnificence in it \m/ Mad respect... But hey not gonna lie... As an old A7x fan I do miss The Rev himself... He wasn't just a badass drummer. He had that bright personality in him that makes us laugh... Rest In Peace to the Knife Master himself
You know why a piece of coal can be made into a diamond? It takes a lot of heat, massive pressure, and time. How crazy it is that by simply using those three things you can turn a piece of coal into a diamond, with heat, pressure and time the molecules actually change. When the big bang happend think of how much heat, pressure and time passed for us to go from a piece of coal into the diamonds we are today. Heat, pressure and time breaks down molecules and actually allows them to bond and mix. It's how we created medicines and stuff like bleach and crap.
The Only Thing They Fear is You by Mick Gordon from Doom Eternal, or BFG Division by Mick Gordon from Doom(2016). Both are instrumental, and one makes you want to 1v1 the sun and the other will make you fight the water in your shower... soooo... Gonna keep suggesting until enough like it that you react to one.
Every drummer that has played for Avenged has their long masterpieces. Jimmy has ALPOH. Portnoy has Save Me. Even Arin, he has Acid Rain. And Brooks, Exist. There's also nothing you can say to change my mind. Even 7 years later, Exist is a modern metal masterpiece. Thank you, Brooks. 💜🤘💜 (Purple heart is for The Stage, their best album)
A quick explanation of the song. The song itself is meant to be a musical interpretation of the Big Bang. M. Shadows said "The song came from the idea of wanting to replicate the Big Bang in a heavy-metal sort of way, like, 'OK, this is what it would have sounded like when this happened.' It's like a huge classical piece. We love Gustav Holst's The Planets, but no one's really hit the Big Bang, so we did it. I wanted it to be all instrumental, and then Brian was like, 'Well, I think there should be some vocals on it.' So we ended up with a compromise where it's like, 'OK, when the vocals come in, that's Earth - that's the first time that life starts after the cooling-down period of the Big Bang."
Also, I don't think either belief needs be be exclusive. Big bang or creation. I think it's possible to believe that the way that creation was accomplished by God was through the big bang. It's a theory in my head. No possible way to confirm or deny it, but science was created by God, no denying that science exist. Is it possible that science is the way that God accomplished many of the works that lead to the world/universe as we know it? Just a little thought on that.
@@Aknight292 I agree. I'm sure when god said "Let there be light" there was a massive, incredible surge of energy that could possibly be the big bang theory.
Everytime I hear this song and I listen to 5 minutes off most wonderful and smooth change up in instruments I've ever heard in a song today and here's a paragraph from the "interview with the rolling stones with "front man M. Shadows said Exist is a heavy metal interpretation of the Big Bang, having the vocal come when the first humans were born. The song features astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson, speaking an excerpt from one of his Hayden Planetarium essays on existence and the cosmos."
absolutely love this song to comment on your big bang theory question, i think a good explanation for the big bang is one of the first verses, and one of the first words in the Bible. with God's mighty word which we know holds much power, said "Let there be light", and then light was, which would explain the big bang theory as he brought the entire universe into being with just words i recommend you react to natural born killer, awesome groove and immense power within the drums that brings the whole track together
Here's a fact , God created the whole universe that's true , and the big bang it also happens , it is God who make the big bang to happen and created the Earth , some people are so blind and stupid to see that both are connected
Hey gibby I understand your a man of faith i thought you would appreciate there is a Christian metal called war of ages the song is called miles apart you should check them out much love
12:30 well, that might be true for *most* cases. tho there's people who literally die as infants due to some genetic disease completely outside of their control... or ofc, get murdered w/ absolutely no reason and/or involvement. Therefore some people do come to earth just to suffer for no reason at all, can't deny that at all. Now whether that's "God's plan" or not it's up to debate, tho it still sounds very cruel
Big bang doesn't make sense but your religion does? Ok show me evidence? Your points are silly asf sometimes man. Like the whole "stripped of their essence before their time" where is your evidence thats its simply their time because god wills it? I actually believe in god but the song is in no way taking jabs at god , you are kind of missing the point. Good video though , stay safe.
The chorus really sounds like its about the rev or someone considering suicide or both." High from the heavens can't see the pain " . After death he thinks he'll be pain free. " Far beyond the dreams of anyone" . Once he's in heaven he we be granted anything he's ever desired in life. "Think for a moment of all the lives, strip of their essence before their times" . God intended us to live to certain ages in our life's and use us, but the protagonist is done and ready to leave the mortal world before God wants. I know this song is about the big bang , but its hard not to see the subliminal in the song . Also the rev could of been having this exact moment in his head when he passed.
According to here the members did it as a metal version of the Big Bang and they originally weren’t gonna do lyrics until Syn convinced Shadows to do them. www.songfacts.com/facts/avenged-sevenfold/exist
I'm seeing everyone get upset and make comments arguing about beliefs and what Gibby thought you didn't agree with.... music is made up of math, counts, rythms, etc. Therefore music is the only language every being understands. Feel the music. Experience it. Allow it to lead you to where your faith comes from..... whatever that faith leafs you to.... allow it to connect us, unit us, not divide us!
As a fellow Christian i can understand your point of view on the big bang. However I've decided science and religion aren't adversaries, to me science is the explanation of what god did and his power. The big bang happened when god created the heavens and the earth. Just as a side note if you look at evolution and genesis the only difference is a few details and the time line, which the bible does address in saying that our understanding of time does not match that of god. I'm sure someone else has said something before me but Meh whatever lol. Love how you have looked into A7x they have been in my life for so long and really helped me through a lot of things keep going my man. God bless!
I'll say only one thing Science tells you how things work BUT Science Doesn't tell you why things work. So here is the valid reason why God is above Science😉
@@waleedawan5454 It seems we are saying the same thing. The big bang is the how, god is the why. Thank you for taking your time to read my comment, I really appreciate it! Hope you are also enjoying gibby's videos.
I love this track bc if you know the story, you can hear each instrument play their part and tell the story! It’s such a beautiful track! May just be me but at around the 13 minute mark, those guitars that come in sound like the calls of some giant ethereal or mythical creatures as they fly or roam through some far off planets or space. This song hits different but it’s such an awesome journey! Music is incredible, the places it can take you and the things it can make you feel.... A7x foREVer man!
I’m glad you reacted to this song but you completely missed the point of the song 🤦🏻♂️ all because you are close minded about “God”. There is evidence of the Big Bang everywhere. You just have to look and open your mind.
Then, did god just pop out of nowhere? Its the same as the big bang theory, some things just dont have full explanations yet, "there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on the world's beaches", and we are just miniscule beings in all that, we can't expect to have the answers to everything. Life has no inherent meaning. Its meaning is what we make of it. So no matter what you believe simply learn to live the best you can.
If you listen to the song Roman Sky, Avenged Sevenfold, same album. I like to think it's from the point of view from someone talking to Jesus as/before he is being crucified. It's very interesting, check it out if you'd like. It goes back and forth from the person witnessing the crucifixion and the point of view from Jesus.
The Stage’s ninth song. A tribute to Giordano Bruno who, in the 16th Century, theorized the existence of a universe beyond the Copernican model. A universe with infinite inhabited planets orbiting a million suns, and the possibility of this should bring a transformation of the idea of human life. He was burned as a heretic for these beliefs on February 17, 1600.
An absolute amazing creation and adventure by A7X! If you'd like another similar song that is a total experience check out the song Outliers (retrospect) by Avaitions. Song is on another level
Not here to hate or anything, I'm just here to say that for both sides of the God vs Big bang argument, there are "plot holes" to both of the claims. As a Christian I am entitled to believe God created everything and I do believe that but it doesn't mean that I don't question some things and wonder about stuff. As a personal opinion I always like to think that the big bang was God creating the universe but that is just because of my religion. But to go back to my claim that there are missing pieces in both sides of the argument, all I'm saying is that no one knows for sure how we were made. Some believe in the big bang while others believe God made us and I believe that everyone should just learn to accept that no matter what there will always be two sides of an argument such as this. Even if we knew for certain which one of these two is responsible for our creation there would still be people that believed the exact opposite of the proven fact. So please just respect everyone's opinions and just keep believing what you believe in. We all share this earth together and we should make the best of the life we have on it despite all our different beliefs.
If you disregard proven facts about the universe and your only argument is something that there is literally NO PROOF of created it, that’s an issue. I get you’re a religious person but there’s also a scope of actually reality.
