I first heard avenged back when bay country’s music video was on MTV in the morning. While I really enjoy city of evil now, probably due to nostalgia, however, I love how their sound always changes. I’m not the biggest fan of hail to the king as a whole, but I really appreciate how the stage album, and so far nobody and we love you are pieces of music that you can’t truly appreciate after one listen. Nobody was something I wasn’t thrilled about, but I listened to it a few more times and paid more attention to the lyrics and the message and it’s one of my favorite songs of theirs overall. I’m so excited for this new album
Being a fan since waking the fallen seeing all that Avenged has done has been sick. Going from a young kid all into metalcore and hardcore to a grown man with kids its like i grew along with them. Still the same at the roots but so many new interests and views.
I haven't listened to Avenged Sevenfold since Hail to the King so after watching your video I gave Nobody a listen. That song has blown me away, it's eerie, melodic, intricate and heavy. The guitar part (the riff that goes duh duuuuuh, I'm not a guitarist so apologies for the vague description) really gave me Alice in Chains vibes, as did some of the other melodies. I'll definitely be checking out the new record and as always your video was excellent.
I AM SO HAPPY someone gives a little love to hail to the king, but also “Creating God” off the stage! Such a creepy, chilling, well worded song. I listened to the album early in Vegas, and instantly fell in love! Absolute masterpiece. Pry my second favorite album behind the stage!

The chilling story of AI rising and overcoming us contrasting with the fun groovy tone of the guitar and drums and this almost worshipful chorus is just so creative and cool. Then throw in the religious undertones about the AI being compared to God, and it’s just a perfect summary of the rise of AI and our own extinction.
I really liked your comment about how they change up what they're doing but stayed rooted in that melodic heavy metal bag. I've said this for a while now and I think its how they've managed to retain and grow their fanbase. It's seen as them exploring music rather than doing something different just for the sake of it. Great video man!
Also, I just realized that my brain is old and broken because half of thier discography melts together with Atreyu for some reason. They just live in the same part of my head dispite being two very different bands.
Like it or not, we all can't deny how talented they are, in terms of song writing, guitar , drumming and all the other stuffs as well. I like the new two songs. It's kinda experimental, but at the same time, when you look at the lyrics, it sounds exactly how it should sound.. it's a freaking journey.

My intro was a burned copy of sounding the seventh trumpet back in 01/02 handed to me in study hall i was a junior in highschool & it blew me away at the time since then ive found something i could enjoy or at least appreciate on every record since, oddly enough a ton of folks seemed to hate hail to the king when it came out but it may be my favorite record of theirs as someone who grew up on late 80's to mid nineties metal i loved that they made that album and IMO nailed it. They are a talented band that makes good music. I can't say they are in my top 10 or anything but everytime i hear they have a new album I can't wait to see what they have created. 🙌🎇
That's pretty much exactly how I feel. Not my favorite band but their talent is undeniable and there's some absolute bangers in their catalog. And I'm loving the new album! 🤘🤘
Matt actually went into detail about what the album would be about in a podcast about a week or so ago and you’re exactly spot on Also, nightmare was the first album without their OG drummer and it really hurt them a lot. He wrote a little piece of heaven, so the guy was a musical genius.
I discovered Avenged Sevenfold when I was playing Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005). That was some more simpler times, when metal music means music with loud guitars. Now I have force myself to keep an open mind to metal music that sounds like Kanye West, or else people will accuse me of holding back a band's evolution of sound. With that being said, I am still looking forward to the new album, along with new Foo Fighters, new Noel Gallagher, and new Einar Solberg solo stuff. What a week!
Waken The Fallen is a Metalcore album. They really progressed as songwriters and matured. I really Hail to the King album, pure heavy metal and hard rock.
I like how unpredictable the predictability of an album like Hail to the King is. I know that sounds weird but, they threw us a curveball, by NOT throwing us a curveball for once. I’ve never been a huge fan of that album but I at least can tell that they haven’t put anything like that out before or since then. They got so weird before and after, but for that one Album in the middle they decided to try and sound like something that had already been done by others before
So I’m gonna have a different perspective on A7X, they are almost solely responsible for me falling in love with metal. I was about 10-11ish when nightmare came out, I first heard them when my dad was picking me up from elementary school and Nightmare was on the radio and hearing the word “Fuck” on the radio in a chorus of a song was just so bad ass to my 5th grade mind, even tho it sounds cringey looking back on it lol, but I fell in love with their discography & because I’m Gen Z I heard A7X before other bigger legacy bands. Because I loved A7X so much & their sound I actually looked into what influenced them as a band and what they liked listening to, so because they were so influenced by Metallica/Megadeth, Pantera & Iron Maiden I got into more classic stuff because of the influence those bands had on them. Gates also was one of the sole reasons I learned to play guitar. So they’re absolutely huge for me, I really loved the Stage and it pushed me into more progressive bands and I can honestly say I enjoy every single record they’ve put out. So excited for the new release and the direction they’re headed. So hyped for LIBAD. 🤘
I like punk more than metal so I enjoyed their stretch of Waking the Fallen, City of Evil, and Self Titled the most. Hail to the King was my least favorite by far. Nobody reminds me of Hail so I wasn't too excited for this new album. Then I heard We Love You and that has been stuck in my head for a week. I am very excited for this new album once again.
Interesting. I bet different fans are gonna have so many mixed opinions and favorites with Avenged. Where opinions on bands like Metallica's back catalog are gonna be fairly unanimous. By being so consistently different Avenged seemed to have earned themselves a lot of freedom.
@@heavymetalphilosophy You are right on. A7x is so diverse that fans love them for different reasons. I'm glad they are all over the place and weird even though I would be perfectly fine if they had made 5 more City of Evil sounding albums.

Disagreeing with music versus awful music is not the same thing. I’ve been a big fan of weird music for years, so I don’t mind this. The more you listen to it the more you love it from my experience.. Avenged sevenfold doesn’t allow their fans to control them to make the old music they want them to go back to because if they did that, the fans will be Happy because they got what they wanted out of them. But you would be making the actual artists Sad because you took their creative freedom away just to please your subconscience of wanting to hear their older stuff again… Which is completely not fair. They already stated their own fanbase is not going to love everything that they do. But all in general, nobody’s obligated to love every single piece of music of anyone’s creation. You can be a big fan of a movie Director, and only like 5 of his movies out of 11 movies he made. You don’t have to love everything an artist does, that’s just not right. Nor are you obligated to because you consider yourself to be a fan.. An artis grows and matures when they get older and go through life experiences. And sometimes in order to tell the newer stories you want within your music, you have to change your whole style to connect with the audience on what we are trying to get the message acrossed with. Just because you don’t agree with a newer style that does not fit for you, that does not mean it’s terrible music. But that is just my perspective. 😇
