Breakdown is back and we're throwing it back to the "City of Evil" days with "Beast and the Harlot." Directed & Edited by Rafa Alcantara Produced by Alex Reese & TWENTYFOURCORE Productions
What the rev did basically being homeless after high school, keeping touch with drumming and having passion, the fact he did most of the writing and back up vocals, and I mean the good back up vocals… is just god given talent
love how honest syn is when he says that he used to have trouble playing solos back in 2004 its amazing to see how he progressed and how he got better at performing live..
Yeah splicing is the metal community's version of cheating on your wife. It's the ultimate sin, but so many people do it, just hardly anyone dares admit it 😂🤣
Naman Singh It’s hard not to be. The world doesn’t see him when he practices things he’s not yet good at. They only see the things he’s already worked on. It’s hard to be cocky when there are so many other players constantly innovating
Brilliant episode, thanks for bringing back the breakdown episodes, please do M.I.A next. I would love it if you start doing play through videos like the one you did for Bat Country. And, Brooks is right that is an amazing solo Syn!
@@ShadowKiller571 I would think appearance and overall demeaner. Usually you can look at a person and tell that they're eithr really into that realm (arts type shit) or if you look like an accountant like Brook(e)s does.
@@TaylorChristy Oh yes, definitely. Mostly he beats on the chorus section, but he's probably the reason they never play that one live (in fact, I'm not sure they EVER have)
Kyle Knapp A year late, but if I remember correctly. He hated playing it because he was co-leading on vocals and leading guitarist, and on live shows with how fast this song is must be hard to do but.
I don't think that was his attitude... Even though he only came in on stage but he is part of the band. They could of said fuck you you're not gonna be here when we do this
When I hear the band talk about the older albums like City or Evil and Waking the Fallen, I get the sense that they have no desire to go back to that era. I totally understand the evolution musicians go through, but it is bittersweet. I’m excited for the future of Avenged Sevenfold but at the same time I want to keep hearing music that sounds like those older records.
I don't know for me no A7X has had a sound that was reminiscent of a previous album. They always try new stuff while still being A7X. The only album that didn't feel A7X for me was Hail to the King as it was much more basic than their other creations and felt only like a tribute album to old metal bands. But it was still a new sound for them. But I can't argue against City of Evil being one of their best together with the self-titled album.
@Grandma to Oliver&Lila You mean to tell me The Stage sounds like Hail to the King? HttK is straight-forward heavy metal and classical influence. The Stage is a musical masterpiece with all kinds of crazy different things from any album they've done.
First song I ever heard by these guys from _Rock Band 3,_ I was immediately floored by Brian’s playing and Jimmy’s drum solo and Harlot still remains one of my favourite A7X songs
4:24 I knew he was gonna bring James into this... my thoughts exactly. I can't believe Syn was actually singing this song live.... Crazy. Chorus okay, but harmonizing in the verses too?? Sick.
Finally Brooks! He's so quiet. I love it. Hope to see more of him. Songs i'd like to see this season. Sunny Disposition Angels The Wicked End Blinded in Chains MIA Second Heartbeat
i thought the scream in the beginning was a fry scream but its literally something anyone can do when their parents are sleeping in the other room without waking them up
I love love love these. I grew up listening to these at like 5/6 time and now I’m a recording engineer , producer , and aspiring artist. Synyster was and still is one of my biggest inspirations. You guys forever rock , these are absolutely eye opening to see these sessions and know what’s shown! Stay rockin.
i hope that one day they release the raw final mix of their albums, that would so cool to be able to sit down and either mix down their stuff in your own ears or even just mentally breakdown what’s going on behind the scenes. i know there’s an instrumental version of nightmare floating around, but to be able to have the final project files in wav format would be absolutely amazing. honestly this applies to all the bands i listen to, but definitely these guys! i’ve always wanted to be able to actually isolate certain components and be able to take in what’s actually going on, especially on solos and fills
There’s instrumental albums of Waking the Fallen, self-titled, and Nightmare. There’s a few instrumentals for City of Evil but these are pretty elusive. Listen to the isolated tracks from Rock Band that are available.
JEOM 049, you can find all the instrumental albums on RU-vid. City of Evil only has a few tracks sadly. The isolated tracks for songs that were in Rock Band are also available on RU-vid. Just search up the song name you want followed by the track you want to hear (i.e., Nightmare guitar track) and it’ll show up if they’ve released it.
Still my top A7X album. I love the vignette-like instrumentals and I always imagined being able to transpose this album into some type of theatrical rock opera.
We're incredibly privileged to have access to this kind of material from our fav band. I was thinking in the guys of the 80's ... dude, these guys just listened to the songs and that's it. We need to thank all of this
Thanks for bringing this series back. :) Please, for myself and other aspiring musicians inspired by your band, keep these videos coming. These are extremely insightful in learning how to write and produce music.
God Damn love these...for real! So cool to hear all the different elements broke down that you otherwise can't hear in the completed song. Keep em coming!!! ❤️🤘❤️ #foREVer
You guys have been my inspiration since I was in middle school. Crazy to think im 25 now and still always thought your writing method was flawless. And this series has gotten me inspired to hit the studio again 😎🤘 keep it real, boys
Truly thank you. You have helped me like many others through I tough times. Please continue to grow and show us your unique talents. I have one band tattoo and that's the batwing. I don't regret it. Thank you for making me a better husband and father
city of evil is my favorite album. i know others are more polished but i just love the insane song structures all perfectly backboned by my fav drummer
