What I really love about this scene is that when Thanos says that he hopes half of humanity will remember Tony is that it's not out of hate or anything. It's genuine respect from Thanos towards Tony for the fight he put up. Same goes for the "When I'm done half of humanity will still be alive" line. It's not a way to go and taunt Tony but to reassure him that not everyone will die. That's what makes Thanos such an amazing villain in this movie. He's not doing anything out of hate but because he genuinely believes he's doing good by the universe.

Four years later and I still cannot get over how fucking amazing Thanos is as a villain. Considering his more one dimensional reasons in the comics it was very risky and very rewarding to see Thanos as a self proclaimed Messiah. Holding Tony’s head gently, Showing his respect, reassuring him and complimenting him, then using the full power of the gauntlet to quickly and painlessly kill him. Thanos was just a perfect villain. I really hope he will go on to be a villain like Darth vader who wont be forgotten in the onscurity that is marvel movies. He really is too good to just be another villain

I think it's pretty clear that the Avengers, especially the group on Thanos' home world, could have beaten Thanos if they worked together correctly. But Strange did everything the way he did it anyways, and it resulted in the good ending that we got in Endgame. If Strange had made moves to either prevent Quill from smacking Thanos and breaking his trance, or using the Time Stone against Thanos, they would have won, but I can only assume that Strange saw some really dark futures in a universe where they managed to defeat Thanos and have access to a completed Infinity Gauntlet. That sort of power would rip the universe apart if it fell into the wrong hands, and luckily everything Thanos wanted to do was reversible, wouldn't destroy the universe, and he wanted to destroy the stones afterwards anyways. A universe without the Infinity Stones is, for whatever reason, the best outcome, even better than universes that prevent the snap from ever happening in the first place.

The fact that Strange saw only one future where they won meant that everything that happened _had to happen._ In every possible iteration of the fight, the only one that eventually ended in Thanos's death was one where Quill messed up. And even if that weren't the case, I don't hear you telling off Thor for not decapitating Thanks when he had the chance. 0:49 all the people wondering why Tony didn't continue the combo or go for a head stab...strange saw what was it 14 or 16 million different scenarios lots of which probably included tony continuing the combo and trying other strats none of them would have worked. Thanos saying " all that for a drop of blood" is probably exactly what Tony was stunned by as that whole combo should've blown off a bears head yet only resulted in a drop of blood. Seconds later Thanos is able to block a literal laser beam and counter a stab after pulling off a full metal helmet and punching chunks of metal off Tony's suit. The reason I like Thanos as a villian so much is the only way to beat him was to lose to him there and keep Tony alive not to out strength and beat Thanos to death but to out think him to his death. Tbh for me Thanos didn't lose as anyone who knows pain and suffering knows how it is minute to minute day by day let alone 5 years I mean just think what happened to hawkeye in that time... the ONLY way to "win" was to go through that for 5 years and wait until the events of endgame. I am surprised that there wasn't some sort of absorbancy with the armor. In the sense that the nanoparticles can't just fly back to Tony when broken off like when his helmet is yanked off. Versus the instance with the power stone where they're disintegrated. But of all things I would've thought that when some of Stark's was directed back at him there would be a disengage or even a reabsorbing of the piece.
