Watching Cap run up to Thanos while spinning Mjolnir and sending him in the air with an uppercut is a bit of cinema history that I wish I could relive for the first time again
If I was able to, you would have heard me yell “KO!!” Like Street Fighter while everyone was cheering. And at the part when he hit the hammer on his shield like a baseball I yelled out “Home Run!!” And made people around me laugh.
It looks like a scene that was storyboarded by pulling a panel straight out of an old comic book and I love it. Like If you were to draw out this scene with bold bright colors and a "THOOM!" in big letters it would look authentic.
in age of ultron he moved it a bit but cap decided to not move it cuz he wants thor to be the only one to lift it and when thanos was focused on killing thor cap decide to use thors hammer
@@davidmacy411 Thanos was able to snatch stormbreaker away from Thor and almost killed him with it. Is it only mjolnir that has that enchantment of being worthy to wield it? Cause even Cap used stormbreaker for a quick minute in the final battle.
@@robertmtz94 Only Mjolnir has the worthy enchant. However, Stormbreaker recognizes cap as basically Thor 2.0, so that is why he could call it to him. There is even a shot when the fight starts of the 3 where Thanos tried to grab Mjolnir and it turned like it hit a reverse polarity magnet. Thanos is definitively not worthy.
Man I miss when the MCU was awesome like this where almost a decades worth of character growth leads up to one of the most awesome moments of all time.
@@kozukitonio740yeah during the time endgame was released, i already have a feeling that marvel will have a hard time living up to the infinity saga and will only go downhill from there
The director of Age of Ultron has said that Cap was in fact able to lift the hammer fully in Age of Ultron but chose not to so he doesn’t embarrass Thor or his friends
The hammer doesn't work off almost worthy, you can ether move it or you can't, Cap chose not to back in the tower because he's humble. @@84everfan90 Righteous people don't play calculus with lives.
Best thing about this is that the Russos didn't overplay or underplay it: they nailed it perfectly. No fancy stuff really -- the catch, the spin, using the shield as a sonic weapon, lightning. They didn't overdo anything, it's just Cap being the perfect hand/hand combatant... with a really powerful hammer.
Loving the character growth from Thor. He knew, but his ego wouldn’t let him admit it back then. But now after all he’s been through, he’s not just ready to accept that Steve is worthy. He’s proud to know that there is somebody else who is his equal in that regard.
Wanda came the closest to actually killing him but it was a much shorter fight which is impressive in its own right. She straight up had him until he had his ship fire on the battlefield
The whole theater cheering like a football stadium after the home team scores a touchdown, maintaining that loudness level throughout the fight, with that one guy yelling "KICK HIS ASS CAP!!!!" I wish I could relive that moment in cinematic history for the first time all over again. Pure euphoria.
@@Chihiro-Kikuchi I means that’s fire too, I just meant it in a joking way like, “Huh, that shit actually worked. Well fuck it, Thanos, Asguardian lightening it is!”
Second loudest for me. When Sub-Zero and Scorpion first came out in the 95 Mortal Kombat movie.... The whole theater lost its shit. They didn't even do anything.
For about 30 seconds it was the most satisfying beatdown ever put on film. The framing and wide shots, the creativity in Cap's fighting, the timing of the music, just everything about it was utter perfection. We'll never get another film like Endgame ever again. Not just because of the logistic nightmare to set it all up, but also because we now live in a world where Endgame exists, and it will always loom in the background of any other film series that attempts anything this grand.
Never in my life before or since this scene have I heard a completely packed theater go absolutely bonkers. Everyone cheering and screaming when cap picked up the hammer and started thoroughly kicking Thanos ass will forever live in my brain as a priceless memory. I'm grateful to have lived through the Golden age of MCU 🤘😎
Yoda battling count Dooku is up there lol. Given the hype surrounding Yoda all those years? It was an epic experience. Other than that, I can’t think of any other scene that trumps these two
@@Switchfoot81084 tbf marvels can make anyone look strong, look at how they did wanda vs thanos, they made her almost kill him, ever since the stan lee statement, I stopped caring about who would win battles, anyone can win if given battle altering personality, imagine superman vs dr strange, most say strange because superman is allergic to magic and kryptonite, at anytime they can easily change it to where superman becomes magic proof and destroy everyone
Cap uses a shield because he doesn’t resort to violence as a first option but he’s more able to when it’s called for. A warrior with restraint in pursuit of a righteous cause. This makes him worthy.
I love that scene in the winter soldier where he's fighting that one skilled guy in the beginning. He sizes him up, puts away the shield and just demolished him with those hands.
semi-related to that, but when on the freeway fighting Bucky, he actually switches the shield from his left hand to his right hand, to be able to use it more offensively rather than defensively like he usually would
I wish we got to see Thanos try to lift it and fail. Also I remember seeing this in theater and when it cut to Cap holding the hammer someone shouted "America!" And nearly every guy in the audience shouted "Fuck yeah!"
The fact Thanos comes at captain America so rank after getting tooled shows you that Thanos thought Cap was extremely powerful and that he has to get rid of him before cap kicks his ass.
Yes bro, Thanos had impression of cap being a great threat with hammer, because of whooping he got by captain for mere moments. Thanos didn't attacked anyone like he attacked captain, he become furious, threw his helmet aside, was determined to kill captain
I can still remember the chilling thrills when I saw the hammer move, and I can remember every loud voice cheering along watching this in theatres in pure excitement seeing what everyone was dreaming of.
This seriously fires me up so much I said I can’t even contain it. Cap holding that hammer, was the single more fire moment is all of marvel history.. period 😊
I cant believe it took me 4 years to realize this.. In the original Avengers, when Tony & Thor fought each other. Tonys suit was powered up to 400% after Thor hit Tony with a blast of Lightning. So Tony installed that power core in the back of his suit specifically for, Thor, to launch a blast of Lightning at him again. Increasing the power level of his suit, to launch a more powerful attack at Thanos.
2008 - 2019 - The last great era of Cinematic movie making. Value it. We're probably never going to see something like it again. When you have kids 10 years from now you're going to show them these movies.
He knew it when in 2015-the age of Ultron, everyone was tryna lift mjolnir up but nobody succeeded, cap was the only one who was able to atleast shake it while tryna lift it upward, thor was worried about being embarrassed in front of the avenger buddies, so cap didnt lift as he didnt wanna put thor into embarrassment, he is good person and best friend of thor after groot
When I tell you people jumped out of their seats and screamed when the hammer went back to cap. The energy these movies had at the end was unbelievable.
Despite the awesome scene, me almost crying tears of epicness (if this is really a thing) and the whole cinema going crazy, I really think, that people who didn't watch all the Marvel movies wouldn't really understand how bloody awesome this scene is. This makes me kind of sad. :D
It really is a true epic saga. You gotta see 'em all to really understand these characters' journeys. Absolutely fantastic job done by Marvel stitching together a consistent narrative through 22 films over 11 years. I try to avoid hyperbole (especially about recent events) but I can't imagine seeing storytelling on this level, at this scale, ever again.
Of course, Captain America is worthy. He made the choice to sacrifice himself to save millions back in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and got frozen for nearly seventy years.
Or because thanos could take it. He got stormbreaker to the chest and used the full power of the stones twice, still didn't die. In fact after the first full use he was more or less unaffected. Thanos is a tanky boy
I was at the premiere in the theater. I've never seen a crowd cheer that loud for a movie it was crazy. I'm usually very quiet during movies, not this time. I was cheering at the top of lungs, it was like watching the most spectacular and important MMA championship of all time
I remember when I saw the movie in theaters the moment it was shown that Cap used the hammer everyone in the theater (me included) started cheering .....just like how everyone laughed their asses off when Hulk threw Loki around like a rag doll lol
This is the best scene in all of Marvel. I wish everytime I rewatched it was like seeing it for the first time. It’s so sad that Marvel may never see this level again 😢
Another reason Cap is my favorite character and why NO ONE can replace him. Sorry Sam, I love you as Falcon but Captain America belongs exclusively to Steve; he doesn't even need the shield to be Captain America. He went without it for several years and held Thanos' punch all by himself.
The electricity in the theater when this scene happened. I remember looking around and everyone was genuinely freaking the f*ck out. My girlfriend put both hands on her head and and started screaming along w everyone when Mjolnir comes back and cap catches it. It was such a “once in a lifetime” experience. You had to be in that theater on opening night to get that reaction. It was so good
Yeah, 1am showing, drunk and high mostly audience doing nuts at like 330am. It was awesome. It's why I like going to movies like this opening night, no spoilers out yet, getting surprised by stuff like this, true big time fans just loving it together.
Long story short I was a die hard MCU fan from the beginning of the infinity saga all the way up 2 the end, it along with Dragon Ball Super helped me get through some intense practices & trainings 4 my track meets. Endgame came out my senior year of high school & Captain America is my favorite super hero. I was kinda goin through a lot mentally & experienced a light depression after finishing a bad track season my Junior year & ironically Infinity War came out after that track season. One of the team captains before he graduated early told me that I had real Captain America potential & that meant a lot 2 me…I finished my last track season better than every sports season I had combined…but when I saw Endgame in Theaters & Cap wielded Mjolnir, bro I almost teared up! 🤞🏾💙💯
This was the most epic scene of the entire franchise. Everyone cheered the moment we saw Captain America pick up Mjolnir and wielded it like a bad ass! Woot woot!
I noticed that as well and every time i bring it up somebody say's it was close to him but the amount of times he throws Thor around he should be like 20 yards away from it.
@@pritiagarwal5599 0:31 he drops his sword and moves some feet away from it as he battles thor. 1:00 he's trying to kill thor with storm breaker, but at 1:05 he gets his sword back nowhere close to where he dropped it
They missed a huge opputunity to have thanos try and use the hammer and say the old comic line "if i cant hit you with the hammer, then ill hit the hammer with you."
What they (Thor/Steve) needed to do was, put the Mjolnir on Thanos's chest like Thor did with Loki back in Thor - 1. And he wouldn't have been able to move. And no one could move it either.😂😂
Idk if that would have worked. We have seen might over come mjolnir's worthy restriction with Hela. Thanos is arguably just as strong as hela, so I dont really see just dropping it on his chest as a game changer.
I'd been hoping for this moment as soon as Lebowski-Thor summoned Mjolnir in 2014 Asgard (because I'd assumed this moment would never come after Hela crushed Mjolnir).
The music score when Cap picked up the hammer was cherry on the top. I remember half of the cinema went NUTS at that exact moment. I really miss the Inifinite saga of MCU.
The Russo brothers really carried the MCU. From their introduction in the Winter Soldier, to Civil war- Infinity War and Endgame. Their direction and vision really paid off. Its probably why both Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans have continued to work with them in their latest projects.
I love how Captain America has such control over his shield and is so adaptable. I love that he can control mjolnir with just the right amount of force to hit his own shield and repeatedly chain together hits with it.
It somewhat bummed me out that nobody besides Thor says anything regarding Cap’s worthiness to wield mjolnir. I imagined like Iron Man or Spider-Man to say something about it. But A: The only thing on every avengers’ mind was defeating Thanos, there wasn’t really any time to react to something like that. And B: I’m sure most people took one look at Cap with Mjolnir and thought “that doesn’t surprise me.”
