I've had mine for one year this month. The review was spot on. Like other reviewers, if you would adjust the seat properly ( higher) you'd get more power to the cranks. You should only have a slight leg bend when at 6:00 .

i"m a owner of one of these Aventon adventure 2 bikes and i haft to agree with what's been said here.have the cobalt blue with the step through setup... being older its so much easier getting on this bike and worth every penny of the investment. do suggest you get the 2nd battery when you purchase the bike, and affirm does work with them on financing your bike if you dont want to throw down all the cash up front...they forgot to mention that below the main screen is a hidden usb port that you can connect your phone up to and will keep it charged up while playing music or maps setup or whatever is going on, great idea and havent seen that on others id checked out...

I bought an Aventon Aventure 2 a month ago. I had 67 miles on it and burned the motor up on an 8 mile hill climb at the 3,000 foot level in the mountains. I climbed up the paved and steep mountain road in Eco mode and in first gear. I had to coast or peddle non-assist 8 miles back to my car. My friend’s Walmart $600 250 watt mid-drive Hyper E-bike made it up the hill and my Aventon didn’t. I took it back to the bike store and the mechanic told me that I needed a new hub motor. My bike has been sitting for a week now waiting for the new motor to come in. This bike cannot handle steep hill climbing for long periods. All the bikes I see get tested online are on short courses. They need to test the Aventon’s endurance on a much longer hill climbing course.

Great review!! I bought this bike a month ago and really love it. I’m 6-5 so I needed a big bike. I agree with everything you say about the bike. I bought it thru a bike shop. They added a handlebar riser and it’s perfect for me. My wife and I ride together and have been having an awesome time. She rides the Level.2. Very hilly roads are leveled off with the power of the 750w motor. We bought the Hollywood Sport Rider 2 bike rack. Excellent. Very sturdy as it connects to a required 2 inch trailer hitch. Heavy bikes are easily managed by lifting the front tire onto the rack first then lifting on the rear. Half the weight. E-bikes have given us fun healthy entertainment. What’s best is how enthusiastic my wife has become with getting out and riding the bikes together on a sunny day. BTW- yes they will go 28mph. 8 gears is adequate. It’s plenty fast and the fat tires help it to feel stable and safe at any speed. Thanks again for a great review!

How many miles do you usually get in range with pedal assist?
@porterbrass
@porterbrass 2 месяца назад
@@alsma1 range depends a lot on outside temp, your weight, cargo, road surface. I’ve only ridden this winter and spring with colder temps. I weigh 230. Maybe on the road in 50-60 degree temps, I’ve been going 30-40 miles total with a moderate level of assist. (Eco or touring). I have gone off road a little and that seems to drain the battery more.

We now live in Colorado Springs and there is a lot more elevation change in paths than our previous city of Orlando. To help her adjust to the altitude, I'm looking at possible e-bikes for my wife. I have a standard hybrid bicycle and I want something she could use for fitness but also have some power to help her keep up with me or take over when she gets too tired. While expensive, this might be the e-bike for her.

I have the Juiced RipCurrent S- very similar on paper aside from 52 volt- but I'm excited to see more torque sensing bikes on the market!!! I wonder if the Aventon is geared high enough to pedal at class 3 speeds like the Juiced is.... I wasn't interested in a fat bike, but the Juiced went on sale, I purchased it for the torque sensing and upright position. So far, it's been a great bike, but I have only had it a few days. Torque sensing is SUCH a better experience in comparison to cadence.

Great review. Rad Power Bikes exploded onto the e-bike scene in 2017 with the Rover and legions of copycats ensued. I ended up with a Rover and a folding Mini model and soon discovered a huge flaw in the company's marketing. To this day, they insist that their bikes use a 750 watt Bafang geared hub motor when, in fact its a 500 watt motor with a PEAK power rating of 750 watts. Big difference on hills, torque, top speed and flexibility. Enter my new fat bike, a very similar offering, the Himiway Cruiser. Himiway offers an unbranded, true 750 watt hub motor mated to a much better controller at a cheaper pricepoint. The Himiway's head unit can be programmed easily to increase the pedal assist levels from 4-5 up to 9 and to increase/decrease the top speed and delay or throttle tip in from the cadence sensor according to your tastes, local laws, etc.. I discovered the Aventon brand and they seem to be the new leader on the block, offering very nicely finished bikes with hydraulic brakes, torque sensors, color display and unique, industry-leading features like integrated turn signals and battery packs neatly integrated into the frame. If Aventon uses a true 750 watt motor, I'd say this bike would be my first choice in this segment, for sure. This bike forced Himiway to lower the price of the Cruiser to $1399 so there is that... Two notes I'll leave you with are suspension seatposts and tire liners. Nobody wants to change a flat on a 80 lb fat bike with no quick release hub while miles away from home on a ride. Don't delay on your purchase of Mr. Taffy or Tannus Armor liners immediately after your purchase. A good quality suspension seatpost saves, A) Your tush, B) Your wallet from upgrading to a much more expensive full suspension frame. You don't need a mushier seat, you do need a seatpost that is well engineered to soak up the bumps from crossing a grassy field or asphalt heaves, cracks, curbs, rocks and the like. You'll thank me for that tip, believe me! I hope you guys do a comparison of seatposts. The cost and engineering disparity is great. I opted for a spendy Kinect post and can vouch it was well worth the money. All my e-bike friends have now opted for some type of suspension post and tire liners. .

I kept hearing 'twerk sensing" and wondered just who this bike was for. LOL. But that torque-sensing 'feature' would likely be a con for me as my knees are finished and I would prefer to have the lightest amount of pedaling to do. Some pedaling, yes... but without significant strain on the knees and hips. Still, a good review, Z&J.
@porterbrass
@porterbrass 4 месяца назад
I think that you’d have no problem. It can be as easy as you’d like with different levels of power. I’ve ridden both cadence and torque sensor setups and highly recommend the torque sensor type. It’s like riding a normal bike with superpowers. The big benefit also with torque sensor is you have variable speed capability. You can peddle at a crawl speed and the bike will only increase speed with a little more pressure of your peddling. With cadence sensors- as soon as you rotate the peddles, your speed setting is fully ON. If you have any doubt, do a test ride and you’ll be able to feel the difference.

@@MarcCoteMusic I forgot to mention- the thumb throttle will get you up to 20mph with no peddling! Actually the only time I use it is just to get rolling before I start peddling. It’s tuned perfectly for fun and safety in my opinion. I test rode a Velotric Nomad and the acceleration was so so quick it actually felt a little unsafe. Good luck with your search.

Lol, it seems that every bike you’ve reviewed recently has instantly gone to the top of my next bike list. The pace of improvement is almost frightening. I preordered a Propella v4 back when it was the best e-bike under $2000. This seems to be a great bike. I've watched a lot of review videos and on the whole, most reviewers are very positive about it. My only reservation would be battery size. More and more fat tire bikes are offering larger batteries for extended range, and that's amazing. With a bike this big and heavy, I wouldn't even want to imagine what I'd do if I ran out of juice. Even if I never ride for the whole estimated range, I'd like to have that extra large buffer of miles in my back pocket, avoiding "range anxiety". I might wait to see if Aventon offers a bigger battery in the future. Otherwise I'd buy it today!!

@@deltaboy2011 There are a few bikes out there that will go over 30 but with battery technology as it is right now, to get a 100 mile+ range would require two pretty big batteries. I THINK there are a couple like that out there, but they're more than $2K.

I just got my Aventure 2 in May. I really like it. The most important thing to do is put some FlatOut in the inner tubes. Ebikes can take you far afield and fat tire ebikes are prone to flats. Getting a flat tire far from home is major bad news especially if it is the rear tire. The grips are non ergonomic and the riser stem is non adjustable, making your position more forward and less upright. I replaced the grips. And replaced the seat with a cloud 9 on a suspension shock. Solid bike. Good Range. Good Power. If you want to replace the bike stem for more upright position, you will need to find a place to mount the head light which attaches to the bike stem. The hydraulic brake lines are short so you may need a shorter adjustable stem I'm using a the Satori UP3 65mm. But the Satori UP2+ 65 mm would be better since it is made specifically for ebikes, but it is not in stock. Another disappointment is the rear rack. It has no quick connect or disconnect like Topeak, or Ibera. The flat metal top makes if difficult to size panniers correctly. Aventon is currently out of battery panels for the new colors Blue and Slate and has been for over a month. Something to consider if you decide to get the spare battery. I got the step through version, since my bad knee makes it hard to throw a leg over the seat.

I like the idea of an electric assisted bicycle. Nicely engineered but we've lost the 'environmentally friendly' part when we make an 80 pound bike. Why 4 inch tires? Cut the weight by a third require more rider input and double the mileage with the same battery. You're making cushy and we need responsible.

I am not the least interested in carbon footprints or the number of trees I supposedly save by riding an electric bicycle. The rear turn signals are little more than a gimmick. I would never trust my life to them being seen by motorist. A high viz adjustable amber flasher would be a more practical addition on the rear. I would love to upgrade to a full size tire ebike like the Adventure 2 but these gimmicks tend to shy me away.
