After getting my Sinch 2 a month ago, I can confirm that you can increase the top speed in the app to 25 MPH.
@onesteeltank
@onesteeltank Год назад
There's just a setting in the app that lets you do it? What's it called? Also how do you like the bike so far, interested in getting it

I bought a Sinch 2 this week. Enjoying the smooth stable ride. Upgraded hand grip and seat to a Cloud 9. Our bike trails in WA have a 25 mph limit. Plenty of power for hills. Like the battery size, range.

Can't the pedals touch the ground while driving?

I like this style of ebike, they feel study and will planted in the road with the right tyres, they have great battery capacity and can come with a hub motor and a torque sensor for decent pedal feeling. There is still a fair bit of maintenance but the drive train is under less stress than with a mid drive motor, so it should last longer. Comfort is good and some of the cheaper components can be upgraded over time. The all terrain and all weather capabilities make these ebikes very versatile and the string frames allow for good carrying capacity. I ride something like this now and for me the next upgrade in 3 to 4 years will be an ebike with similar power, battery and carrying capacity but maintenance free drive train with automated shifting and either shaft drive or belt drive. These are now slowly coming out and are very expensive right now bud they should start a whole new chapter in ebikes.

The Ride1Up Portola will give the Sinch 2 some stiff competition...750 motor, hydraulic brakes, 3" tires (the entire idea of folding a bike is ease of transport/weight), integrated welded rear rack, QR hub, programable for class 1, 2, or 3, etc...and about $4-5 hundred cheaper...

The price difference is much narrower now. Aventon now sells the Sinch 2 with a free extra battery for $1500 while the Portola with the larger battery (that's still smaller than Aventon's) is $1095. Sell the extra battery and the price difference is even smaller. Both can be unlocked to higher speeds, but the Aventon is actually more powerful. Electric Bike Report reviewed both bikes and the Sinch 2 actually beat the Portola in the throttle only "hell hole" climb by 12 seconds and 1.8 mph faster. That is a true measure of power delivery - not published numbers. The Sinch 2 also exceeds claimed range, while the Portola is the opposite. The Portola definitely wins with hydraulic brakes and the ability to carry and passenger in the rear. The Sinch 2 wins with more actual power, more range, bike shop support, and refinement with a torque sensor. As always, the choice is up to the consumer.

I was looking at the ride1up and from all the reviews I have read and listened to, it looks like a great bike for a great price. However, the company has some serious hurdles to overcome. The first as you can't try it out before you buy it. That's a complete dealbreaker for me. The second is not having a local dealer authorized to work on it. Aside from those two problems, the other that steered me away from it was not having an adjustable gooseneck. I like my handlebars high so I don't put stress on my wrists. The bottom line though is there is just no way I'm gonna buy a bike that I can't try. I know there's some supposed network of places you can go to demo but that's too much of a hassle to figure out.

I always like the fit and finish of Aventon bikes, even if some of their models look odd with the frame angles. I don't know why companies using cadence sensors program their pedal assist with speed limits instead of power, which is much more natural. It's almost as annoying as having the throttle limited by the PAS level. Thanks for the review!
@Smaug1
@Smaug1 Год назад
Because some of the power levels would end up too close together. It takes a LOT more power to go from 25 to 28 mph than from 15 to 18, for example. It's not linear, just like power fed into speakers. Believe me, they made the right choice.

@barry4fish19
@barry4fish19 10 месяцев назад
Eventually, you will want liability insurance to cover riding one of these anyways, and it may also eventually be required everywhere along with registration. If you hit someone, you could get sued big time, and have nothing to cover you. It’s inevitable. And so is making rear electric motors that are purposely noisy. Same thing happened to outboard motors on boats, now some are made to sound like NASCAR on purpose because that’s what people want -as much speed, power and noise as possible.
@Smaug1
@Smaug1 Год назад
Nicely-done, as usual. Writing a script to go along with the video really works. I agree that they missed the boat by keeping it to Class 2. These things are not going to sell online, because of that. They probably did it because they're trying to get into bike shops and Best Buy, so they will be mass market available and they just KNOW some idiot is going to take them on a bike trail and run over a toddler at 20 mph.

Theoretically yes, but you'll find in practice that it's hard to add much power over 20 mph for more than a few seconds before your legs feel the burn.

The design of this ebike is great, but in terms of performance, Addmotor's M160 takes the lead.
@mr.h5788
@mr.h5788 Год назад
Under powered, heavy with crappy brakes and poor range. No thanks... With all of the deals right now and great ebike options in this price range I can't imagine anyone buying this. It weighs 70lbs!! What are you going to do with it after you fold it? Aventon is losing customers with their misleading info like 28 mph with pedal assist. The 500.3 will barely do 20 and the brakes squeal badly. You have to download an app and register the bike etc to unlock. My ride1up was a true 28mph with pedal assist. Actually does around 32mph... No app or any BS to hassle with and less expensive. Also, be aware of the step through design. They're weak frames and not able to handle more than just sitting down and cruising. They flex badly and cause death wobble. The shape is like the letter "V". The flex is similar to pulling on one side at the top of the "V" while pushing on the other. I have ridden many step throughs and they feel like they're going to fall apart when you stand up and pedal hard.
@steveareeno65
@steveareeno65 Месяц назад
I haven't noticed any flex with mine. It's very sturdy and well built. This bike does not state that it does 28 miles an hour. It's up to 20 miles an hour and you can get it up to 25 by downloading the app. Yeah, it weighs 70 pounds but pretty much all these e-bikes weigh over 50-60 pounds.
