I bought the AWB gold 3 CD set and it was a great deal. Love Pick Up the Pieces and Cut the Cake. Their logo was cool and exciting for a teenage boy in the 70s. Super funky.

AWB are just an awesome band and were / still are so so tight ... I was deep into Dylan, Neil Young, UFO, BJH, Yes, Genesis, Wishbone Ash, etc before I started DJ-ing at weekend functions in 1981 and clearly had to broaden my horizons to keep everybody dancing ... and I soon learned to appreciate the wonders (and supreme musicianship) of Chic, Kool snd the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Crusaders, George Benson, anything Quincy Jones touched, anything Toto musos contributed to, etc etc .... and AWB had recently released both Feel No Fret and Shine LPs ... both are superb .... so, since then, I have acquired their complete output on CD more than once (including the earlier box set you have) ... for me, either of these sets will be a delight to anyone who acwuires these ... superb tunes, expertly played by supremely talented players ... I have been fortunate to see the band live 4 or 5 times to date (and am going again to the Music Hall in Aberdeen next month as they do one last, and final, tour of the UK) ... and I can assure you that you will not see or experience a better band this year, always at the top of their game, who are so tight and who will have a packed (sold out ... again) venue just grooving ... wonderful ... (for info Hamish Stuart - who left decades ago - also always delivers ... go see him if you have a chance) .... great band, great discography ... no brainer purchase if you don't have their catalogue ... Thanks agan Phil for another helful review video ... CMcG, Aberdeen, Scotland

Great video. I love the AWB, especially 'Feel no fret' and 'Soul searching.' You really do have a wide taste in music. I just wonder whether there are examples you'd cite of bands you dismissed back in the day, but like them now. I mention this because I was wrong about City Boy in the 70's. My album of the week is their 'THE DAY THE EARTH CAUGHT FIRE' from '79. Oh, and back to AWB, I might be lucky enough to get that 50th box set for my birthday.

Love, love, love AWB...have everything on original LP, the original cds, the remastered cds, the Japanese cds, the boxsets that grouped 3 albums together, etc. Pretty sure I will pass on this new box, however. Although... I really want the LIVE ON THE SUNSET STRIP cd. $93 on Amazon right now. How much I have in Amazon Bonus points? ;-)

...there's a LIVE AT THE RAINBOW 1974 coming out on Record Store Day. Why no cd? Ya know, when everybody was pushing vinyl out, I stood hard & fast. Eventually, I caved. Now, lotta of these RSD LPs I want....turntable in-storage. :-)

Trivia? IIRC, AWB was the opening band for Eric Clapton's RAINBOW CONCERT...in 1973?

I love and am going to see AWB next month but jeez for a band that had relatively limited commercial/chart success they’ve really milked the life out of their catalogue. As I have All the pieces (and everything else, virtually) unless there’s anything new on there or it’s autographed I’ll probably pass, as nice as it does look! 😊

Another comment > I love the Arif Mardin produced albums (early albums up thru WARMER COMMUNICATIONS). Personally, I noticed a drop off with FEEL NO FRET. The Foster albums? Way too slick & overproduced, IMO (back then, though, huge Foster fan here). The Dan Hartman CUPID'S IN FASHION? Love Dan Hartman. But...ummmm, trainwreck. No wonder they took a break after.
