I opted for one without the cash clip. Just use the elastic band to hold cash. Much easier to access cash and get it back in. To stop the maracas in the coin tray I put one folded up bill on top of the coins and it doesn’t rattle at all. Usually have a $20 or $50 hidden away in there and smaller bills on the outside. Love my minimalist leather wallets but the Aviator is great too 👍

I wanted to buy one of these sandwich style metal wallets to add to my collection that I use in rotation. It took several months of watching different reviews of this Aviator Slide and The Ridge Wallet before I finally decided to get The Ridge which I just got yesterday. I initially wanted the Aviator Slide but I didn't like how the coin tray is totally detachable leaving just a thin metal plate. Also there is nothing really holding the pull tab securely in place so you can actually pull it out from the bottom and it will like just dangle like a tail. I didn't really need a coin tray and The Ridge seem to have a more solid built so I went with it. And now that I've used it, I found that it was actually very easy to use. Even accessing the cards in the middle was very easy just by fanning it out. I'm definitely happy with the purchase. This will definitely be in my rotation along with my Open Sea Leather wallets, my tauruscamp, my Dango and my Trayvax wallets. I also hope that The Aviator Slide design still gets improved. If they address the issues I mentioned, I will definitely get one as well.

@@Nomads.Nation tried for a week or more. Very cool looking, I really want to strap it on my pants or my arm lol The card capacity are just the same as what you were told. Handy pull tab. Pull and fan, you can get what you want. For the "downside", I have difficulty to thumb the first card out. Probably because of the card texture, it has a huge friction with the 2nd card which makes you difficult to thumb the first card out. I strongly recommend to buy the slide version. The coin tray is hard to use at first. You may pull out the whole coin holder because of the strong friction. Friction reduces after several uses and you will also get use to it. But the coin tray is just an extra, not expecting so much. Money strap is fine. It holds your money tightly but of course you may find it difficult to place your money in. Overall, a very good wallet if you majority use cards and want a cool, neat looking metal dude. Those extra functions doesn't cost you much so why not ?

XSTO by Akeeni has been my go to wallet for the last 18 months. Plus I like how the cash is not as prominently shown & hidden some by the cards you carry.

If you use a cash clip wallet you don't have to stick your cash on the outside you can use the cavity tray to store a few notes

I love trayvax which makes similar wallets, but the frenchie mini speed wallet is my all time favorite edc wallet.

Great job on the review as always . Gonna chk out the link not sure if this beats the ridge. I configured one , no real custom options, only aluminum no titanium version . No carbon fiber option . No color options . Not the normal type of product you review. This type of wallet can be found on the bezos site for 14.99. But thanks for showing it to us. 👍

These hardshell wallets are cool, but only if I’m in a situation where I can keep it in a coat pocket or bag. In the summer when I’m shorts and tee, having a hard shell wallet in the pocket is a nightmare. It’s hard on the materials you’re wearing and incredibly uncomfortable. I’ll stick with slim soft wallets.

Nice review. I'm still sticking with my HuMn wallet. As a backer from kickstarter I just like it more than anything thats come out since. Though I just toss my coins in a spare pocket haha.

I have this and the ridge and let me tell you the ridge wins hands down. The ridge feels sturdy and solid. The aviator feels fragile and flimsy and it's a pain in the ass to get shit back in if you pull cards and coin tray all the way out. Also if you drop the aviator on cement it will leave a mark I am returning mine asap. I imagine if you get all the bells and whistles it would be great but paying over 200 is ridiculous I paid 108 for my titanium ridge

I'm big on soft wallets>hard wallets. A really high quality, handmade slim leather wallet costs the same or less than these hard wallets with "premium" materials. Soft wallets also have the benefit of being able to be carried in any pocket without driving an edge into your ass or scratching other shit in your pocket. Recommending Open Sea Leather again: affordable, simple, very functional, and sexy as all hell

Great German engineering with lots of pros except for those dollar notes expose to the world BUT if you put the notes on the coin compartment, it will be hidden untill you need it plus it will cut down the rattle of the coins. The Aviator is similar to the Groove Wallet. Check it out mate. Cowabunga.!
