Hey Avid Armor Fam, One of the most common questions we get is what bag sizes work best for each of our chamber sealers, and how much can I fit in each one? In this LIVE Q&A, we're tackling just that. Feel free to leave any questions you have down below and we'll be happy to answer them in our live stream!

I have the USV20 and love it. Have a question. I buy frozen shrimp and portion the frozen shrimp into chamber vacuum bags. I vacuum seal on a 30/4 setting. The bags vacuum seal well, but within a few minutes, there is air in the bag. I check the seal and it is good, so I look at the bag for holes that might have occurred, but there aren't any. Out of 4 sealed bags, maybe only 1 will stay vacuumed. I am perplexed and hope you might have an answer. Thank you.

The only thing I can think of is that they’re puncturing the bag so tiny you couldn’t see it the hole. I’d say try wrapping them or double bagging them to see if that’s the problem. I think just because they’re frozen and have a hard shell that maybe that could be causing it.

B Richter - You have to be really careful with shrimp, lobster, etc. When we lived in Cuba, my ex did a lot of diving and brought home lots of lobsters. I would vacuum seal them (with a Foodsaver) and sometimes the bags would get punctures where I couldn't see them (doesn't matter which sealer is used because you'd get the same on any machine). So I would break off any sharp ends and wrap them in paper first and didn't have a problem after that. Can't wait to get my Avid Amor!

I think they are correct. I tried to vacumm seal dehydrated sliced apples and the same thing happened. Were your shrimp still in the shell? I have discovered that i will chamber seal most dehydrated fruits and veggies in jars do to the sharp edges that puncture the bag.

can you use the tuberwear containers for flour . will it ruin the vacuum pump?

I purchased the USV20 after my foodsaver failed and I am impressed. One question: can I use a heavy duty extension cord with the grounding socket with this item? Thanks.
@Avidarmor

Yes, absolutely as long as it's plugged into the appropriate voltage outlet.

Hi, I bought the USV20 in March 2021, and works great. When I turn on the machine the lid makes a pop sound. It seems like the top glass lid is snapping into place. I have had this issue since I first received it but never thought anything of it until I saw this video. I did not hear the popping sound that my USV20 makes, is this something I should be concerned about? Thank you

They do make a little pop noise when they turn on but it shouldn’t be on the lid. Could you send us a video of it doing the popping noise to info@avidarmor.com and we’ll get you taken care of! Thanks!

This looks like an amazing product and I'm very close to picking one up. However, after watching this video, I am confused about something. EVERY time you vacuum sealed juice, there were air bubbles in the bag. I would think a low viscosity liquid would never trap any air. Does some air leak back in from the time the vacuum pump stops and the sealer seals? My expectation is ZERO air, especially with a liquid. Thanks.
@Avidarmor
@Avidarmor 2 года назад
Thanks for the question. The bubbles are forming due to the low atmospheric pressure in the chamber, which lowers the boiling point of liquids.

@@Avidarmor Thanks for the reply. My question is not about the bubbling during the vacuum process. That part I understand. However, after the bags of juice were removed and pressure was equalized, there were ALWAYS air bubbles in the bag....in your video. Thanks.

@@rlynker Is there a particular reason that you need to know this? Like.....are you thinking that this could in some way be problematic? Also, just in case there is a reason that you think that bubbles are problematic, I didn't get this outcome when I sealed liquids but then again, I also slightly froze it in the bag before sealing it up.
@rlynker
@rlynker 2 года назад
@@MakeWay4CJ My concern was that bubbles would be oxygen. But if it's the liquid boiling, I guess it's fine.

I just got mine a few days ago and after I went to Costco I had a field day with this thing! It's so great that I already know that I'm going to sell my Nesco Sealer to make room for it! One of the things that I did to make it easier to seal liquids was to put the liquids in the Avid Armour 11 x 10 bag, then lay the bags flat in a gigantic freezer safe Systema plastic food storage container. Then I put the top on the Systema storage container, making sure that the openings of the plastic bags were still sticking out on the outside and then stuck the whole thing into the freezer. Once it was frozen (or partially frozen) then I took it out and sealed each of them with the Avid Armour sealer. Doing it this way made it a lot less likely that I'd make a mess of the liquids!😄 Every time I tell someone how much I spent on this, the first thing they do is wince but after using it, I can easily see how this is going to pay for itself in time, energy and quality in just under a year! Thanks to you guys for these videos! They've been super helpful!

That sounds like a great idea. Nice little hack to ensure never making a mess with liquids. We love hearing all the hacks our customers have to make their vacuum sealing journey easier.
