Great guitar riffs. Thanks for the demo. I have the Kemper Profiler Stage Floorboard, but after seeing your video, I might pick up a used Eleven Rack so I don't have to keep moving my Kemper from one studio to another (we have 2 studios that I work out of). The good thing with AVID discontinuing these - they're very affordable now. We use Protools, so this should work perfectly with our studios.
I wonder how it stands up to the floor units of today. As an electrical/electronics engineering, what I hear around today some of which I own is digital has finally overcome all the flaws, and I get identical clipping textures from my modelers that I do out of my tube heads. These are pretty cheap used these days, but so are some high performance 2024 models. *A lot of that is reliant on the chip engineers finally changing certain architecture such as logic gates that create asymmetrical clipping and independent frequency damping or cutoff which has always been why digital and analog failed to attain the exact sound of tubes.* Now, it's basically every digital unit I've heard come out in the last 3 years, and even my 12 year old Zoom G5 achieved it which has a 12AX7 in it, but even switched off the emulations achieved this. *At the end of the day though, there's still traits of solid-state that I highly desire and nobody has bothered to implement them in current gear.* There's a density, texture and snarl that comes out of solid-state gear that I can't possibly live without. It's why everyone still slams their tube gear with a solid-state stomp box and guys like Dimebag, and BB King, wouldn't use valves until Krank amps came along.
Thanks! It's a fun unit. That was just the guitar plugged straight into the 11R, and then right into the computer. I used standard and drop D tunings in the video.
You can indeed! You can plug pedals into the front of the unit like it was a regular amplifier, but it also has an assignable effects loop. So for instance, if you have a particular overdrive/distortion pedal that you like, you can connect it to the Eleven Rack's effects loop and then assign it to a patch before the amplifier block. That way it will act as if it were going straight into the input of the unit. So for instance, you can go from a totally clean patch with some compression and reverb...right to a dirty tone with no compression, your favorite pedal and some delay by just hitting one button. If your favorite pedal happens to be something like a delay or reverb that you would normally put in an amplifier's effects loop between the preamp and poweramp sections, just assign the Eleven Rack's effects loop in the unit after the amplifier section and you can assign it to a patch there. So there's a lot of flexibility!
Wow dude.. really great demo on the unit.. the best i've seen so far on eleven rack.. BTW, r you going DI to interface or are you miking it from a Cab... anyways keep bringing more stuff.. cheers man
Would you mind reuploading your patches? The link is down and I really would like to try these out as well! Edit: drive.google.com/open?id=0B9iKWmkKHTrVMXJMSWtBZ1A5c0U
Just so funny that there is still also LINE 6 pod Pro on rack...i use that Same For been FX unit with Randall RH100g2 long Time ago, they are pretty valuable nowdays...
Hi, it's Juan from there video. You can have them for free! Here's a link drive.google.com/file/d/0B9iKWmkKHTrVMXJMSWtBZ1A5c0U/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-lbx9D9rP6c1e0Gjm8wOwCA
Great demo. Are your presets still available for download? I'm particularly interested in the one used in the intro, but I'll take any you can share. Thanks.
Thanks! Here's a zip file containing most of the tones used in this demo. Some of the ones I used for rhythm guitars have the noise gate set pretty high, so depending on how hot your pickups are you may need to go in and tweak the gate...but other than that it's exactly what I was using. Enjoy! dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1828188/11R%20Patches.zip
I’ve been eyeballing one of these for a while but how does the floorboard situation work for live use? Ive seen people using behringer boards but how user friendly is that setup?
Don toth Hi! It’s very easy to set up. Just about any MIDI controller will work. We actually offer package deals if you need both an Eleven Rack and a MIDI controller. Feel free to give us a call at 1-877-SOUND-01 and mention this video for special pricing!
Hi Jonathan! Besides the Eleven Rack and the Quilter Aviator, there was a Radial ToneBone Headbone, a Maxon OD808, a Boss NS-2 and a Nady PCL-800 in the rack.
It covers a lot of ground. 7 years ago at the time of filming, there weren't really any higher gain demos of the unit on RU-vid, so we thought we'd offer one for those were interested in hearing those sounds.
BoyntonProAudio they say it`s pretty limited without some kind of expansion packs or so, and when connecting to PC it works only with ProTools. Is that all true?
Not at all. The expansion pack you speak of was offered as an add-on for older Eleven Racks, but that pack has come pre-loaded on all Eleven Racks that have shipped within the last few years. I use the Eleven Rack with Pro Tools, Studio One and Reaper. You just have to download the stand alone editor (free) if you're using it with a DAW other than Pro Tools.
BoyntonProAudio Great! But if I go for it on secondary market, how can I be sure it`s not that old? They may fool me unless there`s smth that confirms it.
Is it preferred to record vocals with the 11rack? Or should I buy a totally different pre amp. I feel like since I have no guitar it’s reason to purchase this besides the perpetual pro tools license.
The Eleven Rack does have a mic preamp, but it's primarily a guitar focused unit. What type of recording requirements do you have? We'd be happy to recommend another unit that may fit your needs better!
BoyntonProAudio I primarily record vocals over instrumentals. But I wanted the perpetual license that comes with the 11 rack. I pretty much made up my mind on getting this particular hardware just read a few bad reviews of the mic input and wondered if I didn’t get a separate preamp would it be able to do what I want to do with it. Which is record vocals.
A great preamp really makes all of the difference. If you did go that route, you'd just run the external preamp into the line level input on the back of the Eleven Rack and you'd be good to go! Even though we have a lot of guitar related videos on our channel, we're primarily a pro audio dealer and carry a ton of recording gear. If you want to give us a call at 1-877-SOUND-01 between 8:30am and 5pm EST or email our sales manager Joel, we can hook you up with a better price than anything you'll find online. Joe's email address is joel@boyntonproaudio.com
Can i use a small practice amp plugged into the back of the eleven rack until i get studio monitors? It would not be XLR cables but it would be the regular plug like guitar. I forgot to say i know i can use it with the eleven rack for practice because i plug the amp into the front of the eleven rack. But what i mean is can i use it for a monitor and hear what i record in pro tools?
Hi Jeff, You should be able to do that. I'd just be really careful with your master fader within Pro Tools so you don't accidentally damage your amp by sending too hot a signal into it. A lot of small practice amps these days have an AUX input. The easiest way to run this sort of setup would be to run the headphone jack out of the Eleven Rack into the AUX input of the practice amp. You'll either need a 1/4" TRS to 1/8" TRS cable, or a 1/8' TRS to 1/8" TRS cable and just use a standard 1/4" stereo headphone adapter. What type of practice amp are you using?
Angel Sanchez Hi! You can do everything right inside the unit itself. There is an editor that you can use with your computer if you choose, but it's not required.
Hey Juan ! Still using te Eleven Rack nowadays ? It's a great device ! Would you mind to share your preset (the one you are using in this video ?). It would be great ! Thx
Hi! I actually hadn't used the Eleven Rack much for a few years, but then when everything shut down from COVID and I had to switch to teaching online, I started using it in all of my Zoom lessons. Now I'm using it for hours every day! Here's a link to the patches in the video. drive.google.com/file/d/0B9iKWmkKHTrVMXJMSWtBZ1A5c0U/view?usp=sharing&resourcekey=0-lbx9D9rP6c1e0Gjm8wOwCA
Most MIDI controllers will work with the Eleven Rack. We normally stock some Behringer controllers that are pretty affordable. We also have some options from Rocktron as well.
+RandomShitChannel There are a few ways that you could set it up. The Eleven Rack does comes with speaker simulation, so you could run it direct to the PA system via an XLR cable and have all of your amp models, speaker simulation and effects done via the Eleven Rack itself. As long as the monitor engineer gives you a good mix in the wedges so you can hear yourself, you could head to the gig with just a 2 space rack unit. Another way would to be to use it in conjunction with a power amp and speaker cabinet. You would then turn off the speaker simulation and feed the Eleven Rack into the power amp, which would in turn feed the speaker cabinet. Then you would just use it like a regular amplifier, with the added benefit that all of your effects could be housed within the unit. The Eleven Rack also takes pedals well, so you could feed it stomp boxes in addition to the onboard effects. Lastly, you could bypass all of the amp/speaker models and just use it just as an effects processor with your favorite amplifier. If you're interested in using the Eleven Rack as your main rig or as your preamp, a MIDI foot controller would be a good idea to change patches on the fly.
Very Sapto Aji You'll need to pair it with some sort of power amp to drive a speaker cabinet. The Eleven Rack is a preamp, so there's no amplifier built into it. We do sell a number of great power amps though!
I really love how you respond every single comments. if I was in the US I would buy everything from you just to honor your good intention no matter how much price difference there would be between you and big companies.
BoyntonProAudio. thanks very much dude. i just got to get the stand along eleven rack app on my old mini mac now. as I use cu se 5. can't seen to get I to load in
Hi Thanks for your great video Really you made nice presets Can you please put again download link I checked all of them but i couldn't find correct link for dl Thanks so much for your support
I’m torn between this and the POD HD Pro X. I’ve heard that the 11R “feels” better and has better mid to low gain tones, but suffers on the high gain tones (my primary use). Anyone have some experiences and opinions on that?
Hi! When the 11R was first introduced, there weren't a lot of higher gain options within the unit...so getting a tight modern metal tone was tricky. Luckily a few years ago an expansion pack was released that included a number of high gain amp models, and now those additional amp models are pre-loaded and included with every Eleven Rack sold. Those models include Mesa Dual Rectifiers, Soldano SLO's, Bogners, Friedman-esque modded Marshall sounds etc. The POD is a great unit, but now with the Eleven Rack you get all of the dynamics and feel that you've heard about....along with a number of excellent high gain sounds. If you'd like one, give us a call at 1-877-SOUND-01 and mention this video for a special RU-vid promo price!
+Blu If you ever find the regret so strong that you feel like the only reasonable option is to buy one, give us a call and we'll hook you up with a deal too low to print :) www.boyntonproaudio.com/
thank you!!! You saved my ass.. Movie before was some comaprison of Italian dialects.. WTF!?!?!? RU-vid is seriously raping my ass.. My second on playlist usually is a jew talking his political stuff, totally unwanted stuff, and now You tube came up with that they wanna force me to listen to some Italian.. What a FUUUUCCCKK!!! Im a guitarist and this video saves the day.. THANK YOU!
Goes to show if you can "djent" you can even make a Marshall sound as bad as a Soldano! Ax-U-Lee, Soldanos can also sound good. But it's irrelevant, "this also has an overdrive pedal." I, personally have better luck trying to guess what a clean amp MIGHT sound like later, when it's pushed to vomiting radioctive dragon jizz levels, than trying to guess what the clean tones MIGHT be when, to sample, I must be getting splattered by you, who have found that keeping dragon jizz down is harder than swallowing it in the first place. I have no idea what any of this stuff sounds like.
Hi! As we’re all musicians at Boynton Pro Audio, we’ve all had our share of late nights. When you wake up, Pedialyte and some Aspirin should help with your headache. We’ll even give a mulligan on the jab if you’d like to try again once your head is back in the game. Avoid bright lights and you should be fine. Be well!
Dude, I have tried to get mine to sound like yours, I have messed with this thing for a week and mine sounds like SH*T. No matter how I set it, its too bright, no balls and Horrible. What am I doing wrong??
Here are some of the presets that we used in the video. These should be a good starting point. drive.google.com/file/d/0B9iKWmkKHTrVMXJMSWtBZ1A5c0U/view
You got some great tones out of yours, but every time I plug into mine,I usually end up unplugging 10 minutes later because I get disgusted.I would like to use it for the effects, but my amp doesn't have an effects loop. When I plug in through the front and try that I can never get a decent sound out of it.I know it can sound better than it does for me and I'm not stupid either, but this thing aggravates me.
+BoyntonProAudio Hey there...thank you,I will give them a try.One factor that I just find out about after your video, was how this other person connected his rig.He ran the cable that goes to your amp, into the effects loop return jack. The sounds he was getting were actually better sounding than yours. No offense you know, but this seems to be the way I would need to run it,but not having an effects loop at this time,I'll have to make do.Thanks again for the info.Don.
+NoyzyBoyZ3 Yep, that's a great way to go. We only went over tones going direct with the cabinet simulation on, but disengaging the cabinet model and running it with a poweramp is a great option for live applications.
Question... Have you by any chance ever heard the term "clean tones"? Yeah, what that means is to play an actual guitar and hear it's un-molested sound. For example... someone may actually play the instrument without stacks of gain dripping from its ass. Believe it or not, people actually do that. It's fairly common. You should try it some time.
IPushHard Dripping from its what? Well now we’re really concerned. Any guitar suffering from any kind of dripping or seepage from that area should seek out medical attention immediately. You can’t be too careful. Safety first. Also, if any garments have been soiled from this unfortunate expulsion, our recommend laundry detergent of choice is... Gain.
@@BoyntonProAudio I like gain at least as much as you do. Do you think that you own the only amp that goes to 11? ...but I understand that gain for it's own sake is just redundant, unless of course your only focused on peaking the interest of 14 year old boys. Gain should be used when its appropriate in the context of a song. It has its time and place...but "always on" is just boring. I'm sleepy now. I'm going to bed. Oh, and by the way. I just bought a brand new Eleven Rack with the expansion hadware from Reverb for $199.00. I'm gonna sleep well tonight.
IPushHard We hope you enjoy it, it’s a great unit. We could’ve saved you a few dollars on it, but if you need anything else in the future don’t hesitate to reach out.
@@BoyntonProAudio Dude, $199.00 for everything this does? ...it's a steal. Sweetwater has none in stock. eBay has some but I think they were around $300.00. Crap man, the preowned ones on eBay were even more. $350.00. Thomann had them at $324.00... pretty sure thats right. The Eleven Rack is now a "last generation" unit. Avid is pulling the plug. Its reached the end of it's long term sales cycle, and its going away ( I dont think they have announced that, but the writing is on the wall). But I didnt buy this as a modeling amp... The modeling is so-so compared to the latest gen stuff. Helix, Head Rush. Kemper. They all kill it. I bought this for everything else it does... not modeling...because if you take a look at the current interface offerings, you'll find that there is nothing among them that has the features this unit has for under $1000.00.. Nothing from Focus Rite. Nothing from Presonus. Nothing from Line 6, or Vox, or Boss. Nothing from freeking Behringer. ...and for a decent interface from any of them it will run at least $199.00. Yes its USB 2.0 (instead of 3.0), but is that really a drawback? Obviously, the data transfer rates were good enough to cover recording for as long as the unit has been around. Has recording changed somehow since USB 3.0 has emerged? This thing is a steal right now, and if you can beat 199 bucks out the door? ..then I suggest you get them up on Reverb or something. Make some money. Keep America strong!
@@IPushHard Hey man, coming in late to the party I have to say you are a stupid, rude, asshole. It's relatively easy to get a good, clean tone to record using a decent guitar and a decent amp. It is far more difficult to get a high gain setting to record that sounds good, and this thing does. But what do I know? I've only been playing for damn near 40 years. It's fine, even desirable to disagree, but professional people can do so without being jerks. Have fun tonight playing the Crackerbarrel.
Glad I watched this before I bought one... that sounds terrible... just like Axe FX, it generally sounds thin and fizzy to me... maybe I’m just old school or I’m missing something
We sell tube amps too :) This is an all in one amp modeler, guitar preamp, effects processor, microphone preamp and recording interface. It contains a slew of EQ's, compressors, distortions, delays, reverbs, wah's, flangers, chorus effects and is fully MIDI controllable...for less money than a lot of individual effects pedals. The Eleven Rack is definitely loaded to the brim with features for its selling price, but if you're after something in the next tonal tier, we'd be happy to help you find something that would be a better fit for your tastes. We can usually crush the competition as far as prices go, so don't feel shy about reaching out to us if you're ever on the hunt for something. We offer fast, same day shipping and can get fun toys out to you in a hurry!
