Great work on these videos. I am a new gun owner and just purchased a Franchi Affinity 3. The manual is not very good and your videos are the best ones that I have seen for this type of gun. Much appreciated! You have yourself a new subscriber.
Nice - thanks for the heads up! Got an Affinity 3.5 for me and a 3 for my son. Just started trap shooting with them: would have been baffled by this first time in the field if not for you . Thanks!
Great advice. The Benelli return spring is in the butt of the stock on a steel rod. The Franchi Affinity has the return spring wrapped around the magazine tube. Better to me because out front it holds the bolt in battery when walking and use. No Benelli "click" instead of BANG problem. And the stock is empty of a spring that can take on water and hold water and rust the spring or get it dirty.
Great video. You say release the trigger when I think you mean release the bolt handle. Don't want people thinking their finger should be anywhere near the trigger when unloading.
Thank you because I have struggled with how to load it. I 'm not thrilled that they want you to rack one in and then load the magazine but you video really helped. The manual is terrible the way it is set up.
Hi there just watching your Franchi video which is very cool , I’ve just bought the exact same gun over here in Ireland and could you tell me how you attached the front sling swivel please ? It looks like it’s threaded through the steel pin which goes through the black screw down cap ? May be wrong it’s hard to see . Ok many thx Regards Darren
I have an M1 Super 90, it was the rage when it came out to market with the bolt system. Yes the gun is fast, No the gun is not intuitive and operator friendly like other semi-autos. Aside from speed it really makes clearing it a pain in the ass and a safety concern. Hindsight is 2020, next time, a Beretta
Just got my first Franchi a few weeks ago. Love it. Doesn’t like to cycle Winchester ammo tho, only flaw so far. How’s yalls affinities working after a few years of use?
great stuff, thank you. I'm just now getting familiar with the Benelli Montrefelto that I just bought and this was the first thing I Googled :D. Hey, I'm guessing that TV doesn't get a lot of viewing time? ;)
Just hold the release and itll cycle like it's firing. The trigger pull activates that release so thats why it works when you shoot but not when you just pull the bolt back
To unload I push the button to release a shell from magazine and use the action to remove the shell. Push button to release and eject. Repeat til empty.
Same here with Franchi Affinity 3, but I've accidentally bumped that release our shooting sport clays. Doesn't fire after that, I guess. Usually not an issue, but can be bumped kinda easy
@@Rico-77I’m not a fan or the release either. Great hun, but kinda unnecessary from my time with the gun. It’s like a secondary safety from what I’ve found. Who decided they need a release? Someone commented it’s because of spring location, perhaps that’s why.
@@subbydagwoods I appreciate the feedback, and I agree, seemed unnecessaryat first. I shot trap league with it this season and got it figured out. It's fine once you get used to it, just needed more practice.
Something that I find cool is after pushing the release button to the side and that shell comes out like 1/8th way out and stops is then to rack that bolt carrier and it comes flying out the bottom then do the same procedure again every time for the remaining shells to be removed.
Would empty shotgun cartridges that have already been fired be okay to practice loading and unloading with in this gun? Or would they be too light to really work?
In my experience, they will be okay. But as they are fired off, they become longer (as case is full open). So, it could sometime get lightly stuck because of that. Cut the top of the fired shell a bit with scalpel and you are good to go practice (usually at 70mm - like most closed shells).
yeah it will. or you can google benelli carrier latch and there is a way to bend it slightly to make loading easier. in my experience though it loosens up after a few hundred shells.
@@Raevenswood I used it for the first time today, it got easier to load, I still get pitch sometimes, I hate having to use two hands, but it’s very nice Italian shotgun!! I’m a benelli fan now, but need to save up for a supernova!!
The release is a stupid feature imo. But the gun is a thing of beauty. I can get past the stupid release after a few hunts with my 3.5 elite. Hope you enjoy yours!
The best way to avoid having to do all these machinations to avoid getting bit is to just replace the lifter with an aftermarket lifter. I used one from TTI, took me 10 minutes to install, and I don't even think about getting Benelli thumb anymore. .
Removing shells like it states in manual isn't that hard to do when you get used to it. And loading you can do it with tip of your thumb so you don't get bit. I´ve had Franchi for 9 years now, but it's not affinity, older model, but it is same.
Hi, great video! I have one question with the bolt closed can you push the button to feed one up on the ramp and then cycle the bolt back? I see you have the bolt back and then you push the button to put one on the ramp and then let the charging handle go forward. Does it matter which way you do it? Does it hurt the shotgun either way? Thanks
I actually sent mine in for cerakote chipping off under warrant so I can not test this but I will be releasing a few more videos I did with the gun before I sent it in
You can without problem and fear. I do that every time when reloading in pheasant hunt 4th or 5th year in row (Affinity 1 but they are almost the same) and we shoot a lot. No anomalies, defects or else. Feed one in chamber, rest in tube, push the button to feed next one from tube to the ramp and you are ready to hunt.
They don’t recommend it because it’s not safe. It easier to rack the first shell out. The. Hold the lifter down with one hand and press the button with your other to take the shells out. The more you do it the more the button will break in. Your way works but it’s 2 times a shell could go off on accident.
Haha great you noticed that! Actually we always use the projector on the wall behind me and the TV never gets used. TV is there for daytime watching though where the projector does not do great in the brighter light
