So can a Liftmaster belt always be used. Even on a Chamberlain? Making it so that you only have to stock up on 7' and 8' Liftmaster belts?

I have a chamberlain 1280rgd and cannot find a belt with 12 groove per 6 inch that has the right fittings. Can i put a same length belt that has 20 groove per 6 inch in its place?

Excellent question. No unfortunately you would need to make sure that you purchase the right bill for that opener. I'm curious if LiftMaster said the belt was no longer available or it was out of stock?

Thanks I do the same steps plus I mark the part position that you hang the belt to frome both side so i dont change anything and i was sure that the door was in close position but!!!! When I installed the belt and tighten it a very bad noise and clicking loud was coming I disconnected it manually.. I don’t really know what happened!!!? I wish that I mentioned the situation to be understood. Thanks

Thank you for sharing this. The click is coming from the sprocket. The belt might be tighten too tight. Do you have the ability to loosen it?
