When I see that you finish cleaning the spill, small detail that most of you don't bother that's when I know that you are a proper professional. Thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge.
The tutorial is perfect. Thank you! A good tip for this type of gearbox would be to avoid it at all costs. No matter how you drive, the clutch will wear out at around 100k miles. If you change the oil regularly every 30k miles, you will probably get another 30k out of the transmission, but eventually, you will need to prepare at least £2k for clutch replacement. If you do it yourself, it will cost you around £400 with the seal, oil, filters, etc., but it is a bad car. I am telling you this from my experience of owning one.
I guess blocking these people isn't a option or disabling comments as I assume you won't get paid for your troubles. For the record I think the videos are all brilliant and I learn so much. Make them all for the rest of us and put the names of the trolls in the rolling credits. Leave the rest to us to comment on their works of art 👍
Unfortunatelly this gearboxes Powershift 1st generation (6dct450) with wet dumper fail no matter what, Ive seen examples people changing oil even so 15-20k miles, oil perfectly clean and they still fail after 90-120k miles. Newer generation 2015+ (6dct451) was way improved and work pretty well.
Nice to hear you say it as it is Steve, forget what other people think and crack on with what makes you happy, you can't please everyone that's for sure. Great work as always, and to be fair probably the best UK automotive channel by far so keep it up. 👍
all ur vids are great im no mechanic but recently purchased a 68 plate 1.5 Focus ST line X Ecoblue Diesel powershift and just like to get a lot of info about Fords in General thanks for these vids 👍👍👍
@@SYDiagnostics just a quick Question i cant seem to find when or if my Focus needs its gearbox oil changing its 8 speed auto but cant find any info 68 plate 1.5 ecoblue its currently 37,625
@@sliderdriver1 I've done a few videos of stripping items on the kuga, one on a door fault and one with a misfire. Also a good parasitic battery drain that's really worth watching....
@@SYDiagnostics I've just watched the drain vid, excellent mate. I'll catch up on your ecosport door lock one too. Thanks for the videos pal, I do Roadside so any tips are always welcome. Cheers again👍🏻
Brilliant video mate do you know if this would be the same for a 2008 s max? And what would it cost to have this done as I don't have a way of lifting my car level
I have the DCT 470 version of this on my EVO 10. The oil and filter gets changed every 10k miles or you end up with problems. Fill it with Castrol transmax dual who make the oil under the Ford, Volvo and Mitsubishi Diaqueen names. You can also put Motul DCT in which works fine also.
Hey 😊 great footage. Very detailed I feel quite confident doing this myself now. I have a request would you possibly do a video of a intermediate transmission speed sensor b please for the same gearbox.
Good video thanks for taking time to make it. Will be servicing my Galaxy soon. When you run through the gears do you keep the handbrake on or is handbrake off and wheels are actually rotating ? Many Thanks Carl
The best and on point video on the maintenance of this gearbox. Same Getrag 6DCT450 is found on Renault models with EDC gearbox. How many litres did you put in the box roughly?
i dont get it, why would you have to drain the level only to add the drained fluid again? so you fill up 6 litres run the gears then open the level plug to drain out half a litre only ot add the same half a litre again. I filled the 6 litres and ran it through the gears, but then I drained the full fluid and found 2 litres in the front chamber and 4 litres in the rear chamber. How weird? So I filled it again and did it properly and drained it again, this time I had 2.5 litres in the front chamber and 3.5 in the rear chamber, the half litre went into the front chamber. Totally weird! The gearbox was troublesome in first to second and second to first till I added another 1 litre which sorted it out completely!!! How mads that???
Hi, super video! I am going to attempt this on my new car. Can this be done just by lifting the front of the vehicle and placing on axle stands? Or does the car need to be fully level? Cheers
I put the oil back in because its new, and not done any miles, i ensure the gearbox casing is clean as too is the tub i capture it in. Putting the oil back in ensures that the first chamber is filled correctly and once it starts to come out the level bung again, you know chamber 2 is full too. Sometimes you need more oil than what you've initially put back. I always get 7lt to do the job
Hi, when you shift gears for 20 seconds each, do you hold your foot on brake the whole time??? I'm not sure if the front wheels need to spin during this process. Thanks
Great video, I think the my dodge journey 2.0crd 2009 have same automatic gearbox. I change once time fluid in gearbox before 2y 30k km, but now when drive strong lost 135 gears, it's possible the its time for change fluids? I by MEYLE ATF DCG II and filter, planing change fluid hope fixed the problem.
Bonjour je vais vous demander une petite question quand on a une problème avec se défaut p0700 sur le même voiture que ce que je dois faire merci de me répondre je serai très reconnaissante abientot
Hallo, i am from Belgium.Last year I did a revision of my Ford S max 2012 powershift 2.0D 120kw.The car shocked a bit after the revision.I went back to the mechanic who was doing the revision and he said to just drive because the parts are new inside. After one year the shocks increased and I took the car to him again he installed new software and checked the oil and said it's fine now.Now the car shocks even more when changing gears just 1,2,3- 4,5,6, not shocking.Only when the engine is hot does it shock 1,2,3 when the engine is cold it shifts well.I went to another mechanic and he told me that the problem is the oil.He told me that the person doing the revision either put in a little oil or too much or the wrong oil. Please, who can help me because I can't drive the car because it has strong shocks and I'm afraid that the transmission is damaged again and I paid €4000
Hi and thank you for the realy helpful information. I did do the oil on mine but after a couple of weeks I did find that there oil coming from the oil filter. My question is can I replace the filter with out draining the oil? Thankful for the help.
@@SYDiagnostics I would like to share an opinion on this subject. In line with the video, I changed the transmission oil of my vehicle. When I removed the filter, I noticed that the transmission oil filter was also expanding. I think the transmission oil maintenance that cannot be done in the change mileage may cause other problems.
@@haruncimrin most issues i see on these are through lack of oil changes. If i had one id be changing it earlier than 37k. There is an internal filter too, but this cannot be changed without stripping the gearbox
Hi, thank you so much for the video mate. I have a 2020 Renault Megane RS280 EDC. I believe it also has the 6DCT450 trans made by getrag. I had my trans fluid changed at 25000KM at a 3rd party workshop because the Renault dealer said their trans fluid was "lifetime". But, the mechanic didn't change my filter.. Now after servicing at Renault, they said there are traces of oil at the flywheel. I'm not a mechanic so I'm not sure if there are any possibilities that the traces of oil were due to a bad trans oil change previously? Also, since changing the flywheel oil seal requires dropping the trans, would you recommend me to request the dealer to have the internal filter changed as well? Or the internal filter can last for a very long time? Is it expensive? Pardon for the long questions..appreciate your help and thank you so much in advance mate. God bless and happy holidays.
Great vid would this be the same on a transit custom 2.0 ecoblue automatic I can't seem to find any info and I've ask 2 ford dealership service dept ... they both didn't know ?
Great video and helped my friend to do the fluid change on my focus. Quick question tho, even after changing fluid my car still has trouble selecting second gear. Not as often as before fluid change. Any suggestions?
@@SYDiagnostics hi, just ran a scan which had no codes. Then we noticed the brake switch never showed active at any time even tho brake lights came on?? Also when we turned car off we had a code PO68A come up saying power de energised too early??
Do i need to replace the air mass meter whilst i am doing the service , starting engine and running through the gears , or leave it to when i have completed everything .
Just done this on my galaxy and now have an intermittent loss of reverse, another mechanic said possible air lock so I redone everything including using an ir sensor to check temp was up but still there. Only goes into reverse 6 out of 10 attempts. Correct amount of fluid in, refilled until came out of drain after shifting through as you done. Not sure what to do now. No fault codes on scanner.
Thanks a lot SY Diagnostics very simple and important things you explained and showed. I have an automatic gearbox Ford C-max 2016, 2L TDCI, 150 HP, 160000km run and I want to change the oil and filter of gearbox. Unfortunately I have no any record of previous oil change, nothing. So I don't know if previous owner changed it or not... Same time changes of speeds are smooth and nice no any problems filling, the speed changes at 1.8-2rpm. My question is should I change it? if yes, change it as in your video (partially) or completely (with special machine)? Let me know please what do you think. Thanks in advance
Hi,@@SYDiagnostics thanks a lot for your opinion!!! One more question which kind of spray you use to clean the leaked oil from the exterior of the gearbox?
@@andrinuta25 it's brake cleaner spray, but you can use any kind of grime revover for cars, or isopropyl alcohol if you have one of those manual pressure pumps
8 liters of oil came out of the transmission section of my 2016 focus Powershift 6-speed vehicle. According to your video, I replaced it with 6 liters of oil, which is correct?
Superb and very interesting vlog I’m thinking of purchasing a 2013 fiesta petrol 1.6 power shift auto with 39k miles what are your thoughts ? I don’t think the transmission oil has ever been changed but I am under the impression that it has been well looked after many thanks and best regards mark from Billericay 😀👍🇬🇧
Great instructional video, I’ve got this job to do in the workshop tomorrow. No doubt the 🛎🔚 who is trolling you is sat in his shit stained pants smoking dope and drinking strong cider
Hi its andy I have a ford focus mk3 titanium x with the power shift gear box I have replaced the seal and drivers side drive shaft but I have only added 5lt of oil can I add another 1 lt and then check the oil level 😀
@@ANDY-we7mr correct, but you may find that chamber 2 is full and chamber 1 is low. So I would remove the level plug and catch any oil. then fill the box in 100ml amounts until the oil starts to come ou the level plug hole
Volvo abut confusing some model has a 6 speed automatic transmission (using Aisin AW- fluid) and also this 6 speed wet DCT (Ford-Gatreg), my 2011 Volvo T4 1.6T is this MPS6/6DCT450, same style 2 drain plugs and 1 side level plug all are 8mm Hex. I was previously confused abt the transmission type. Thank for the vid that clears my doubts. It is a good vid!
Great demo. Just a query on oil level. Assume the gear box is fully drained and the pipes carrying the oil to cooling coil are cleaned as well, do you just put 6 lit in (The factory spec says 7.3 lit) . The video says, put 6.l in and then some will overflow. (in the video it was 1.1) Does this mean you actually got just 4.9 l in the 1st time? The put back 1.1 again, so you then have a total of 6 again. Did you putt out the 1.1 to sort of flush and purge the system? Does the gearbox when normal have an oil level higher than the side drain plug? Tks
I changed oil an filter on gearbox as car was juddering on gear change, and coming up engine malfunction, it was ok for 3 weeks, but now it started again, what could it be? also if there is not enough oil in the chamber will it throw up engine malfunction and go into limp mode
@@haruncimrin 7.25l as a dry fill, this includes the cooler and lines...i usually ask for 7 lt wen doing the job.......i usually only get 6 given and rely on a 5lt top up jug i have for the rest
