I love this algorithm. Kevin and Liza STUDY Venya, Marina and Poc and we STUDY Kevin and Liza’s content so we don’t have to STUDY the mistakes Venya, Marina and Poc do. And then, in a future, we’ll be teaching Marina, Venya and Poc how to speak English properly.

Technically, it's grammatically correct to say "In what year were you born?" because the preposition "in" needs a noun phrase (what year) to make complete sense. In other words, a prepositional phrase (preposition + noun phrase), not a noun phrase, is necessary to mention when something happens. So, the question should read: - In what year were you born? (grammatically correct, but formal sounding) - What year were you born in? (less formal and more common in casual English) - What year were you born? ("in" can be left out and commonly used in very casual conversational English, but is considered to be grammatically incorrect in standard English).

The main mistake of all non-native speakers who teaches English: they use their mother tongue background. Marina and Venya used “which” in questions because in Russian language we say like this (какой глагол ты выберешь? / “which” verb will you choose?; where “which” means “какой”. It’s a direct translation word by word without analyzing the using it in real life). It’s a common mistake.

But In this case/in this particular context they are asking for a specific noun (for example in one of the questions, "a noun that means a general agreement", the use of "which" would be more appropriate). It suggests that there is a limited set of nouns to choose from.
@victor_rybin
@victor_rybin 5 месяцев назад
that they are asking about a apecific noun is irrelevant. what's relevant is whether there are defined possible choices. in the case of finding a noun out of all nouns of English -- such choices are not defined (you don't know all possible words)

@@victor_rybin wrong! For example, there aren't many nouns that mean "a general agreement" (which noun means a general agreement?) should be correct, too.
