I must say we are segregated by color and money together... and I say that because sometimes money don't matter when you are black... and in other cases is not what you know it's who you know... and if you not close to ppl in a certain position or power then expect the bare minimum but prepare for the worse... I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia passed Jim Crow Laws like other southern states did...
@@MynameisTHECHOSENONE We see this differently because if we were indeed segregated by color and money there’s absolutely no way we as black people in GA would have the freedom to live and work where we do now. The mayor of Augusta is black. Most of the commissioners in Augusta are black a great percentage of the business owners in Augusta are black as well… Those type of things wouldn’t be possible with Jim Crow laws which not only affect housing, but economics as well. You do, however have a good point about the power of who you know but that’s not needed to live in certain neighborhoods in our area which was the main point for the statement 👍🏽💖
@LivinginAugustaGeorgia I'm sorry but I have experienced augusta differently... and you are correct we do see things differently... I both agree and disagree with you in a lot of areas... this town is set up to keep the poor poor and as for as the not poor I can't speak 4 them because I live in poverty some what and things are built to keep us here...
@@MynameisTHECHOSENONE Yep I remember you and I talking about that a while ago…which indeed there are a different set of challenges that varies with each financial level. But the good thing is nowadays thankfully the internet gives a greater degree of assessability for information and resources no matter the race or gender.
I've been living here for over 6yr and I like it, I've lived over seas and multiple places in the US. I love it, minimal traffic, home prices are good, gas is cheaper than other places in Georgia, and I'm centrally located I can travel and do short trips to Charlotte, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville Florida, Atlanta, Myrtle Beach. We don't get rain like other areas and rarely do have harsh weather i.e tornado, strong winds, flooding not here thank God. The pollen comes and goes. The schools are good, rated in the top 5 in the state. Bugs are normal in the South sooooo 👀🤷🏾♀️
Don’t let the bugs scare you..the exterminator is the solution for that but the pollen…like I mentioned that varies with each person…let us know how we can help with your real estate needs..we’ve got you covered with that! 🏡💖
It’s peaceful here, I moved from Chicago, Augusta is clean, peaceful. The violence that does happen here is nothing but a fraction of what I been through. I don’t have to carry my gun to take out the trash, hell I can even go to any gas station I want to go to here… It’s land, fishing nearby, I love it here!
Absolutely I agree and wow you brought back memories of being in Chicago and having to be selective with which gas stations to go to in particular neighborhoods. Yep I love it here too and glad you’ve adjusted to Augusta.
Aww, I love how real you were about the humidity. I live down in Florida so i feel your pain. My hair is so poofy sometimes that it drives me crazy. 😵💫 But this is the most honest, straightforward video I've seen a realtor do. I would feel confindent in working with you yo buy a house. 😄
You are right on so many of your statements. We moved here in 2014 from Germany and it was a difficult transition but we accepted it and enjoy it here. Like you mentioned about interracial couples, our family is one of them and our twin boys took quite a beating from the sun and humidity (skin is darker and difficulties with acne). After the adjustment, we became very involved with the community and surrounding areas. Even after 10 years, we have still not seen everything there is to see and do here but plan to soon.
@@Dark4estImagery Congratulations on your move here and it sounds like this is a great fit for you and your family. I like yourself haven’t seen everything our area offers and now that more is coming to the area there’s even more to add to the list. Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching the channel! 👍🏽
I never seen a cotton field in my life! When I first moved here I was driving through SC and it was miles and miles and miles of cotton fields. I was shocked, all I can see are the ancestors
Oh my gosh I felt the same way when I saw them as I was driving to Savannah and to top it off there were rows of dilapidated slave quarters in the field.....but it's so humbling and a blessing that God allowed us to be in this dispensation of time. Defintley a motivator to soar as high as possible with no excuses! #unstoppable
Wow, being white I get the creeps from same. The fields, but also the architecture and statues, don't find any of it pretty or important history I need to experience. Its Gruesome that I saw a confederate flag last year and those states still up, wtf!!! What's worse is the recent weird attempts by wto deny and rationalize how the black person was dehumanized by the culture....so gross. They seriously must be sick
Yep unfortunately there are people still out here who are deceived by the past thinking it’s acceptable. The good thing is more people today than in the past are standing up for justice for all but we’ve still got a long way to go.
Thank you very much for this video. My family and I are not sure where are moving yet. What state were from Pennsylvania and we are looking for a pleasant change. Georgia was not on my radar at all but it is now thank you for opening my eyes.
You’re welcome and I’m glad you discovered the channel. The Augusta area is definitely a great place to consider if you want a change of pace from the larger cities. Reach out if you have questions.
Absolutely you got it..my intention was to highlight several aspects of what it’s like to live in the area… although some people will think most of the items are positive, some will consider them as negative. Thanks so much for commenting and watching.
well Augusta has definitely changed and there are quite allot of places that will stay open which is downtown augusta downtown used to not be active but like now everyday and evening i go down there it’s always something and it’s allot of night life around there to do our downtown has definitely came up and still is really dats with all the luxury apartments there building
Yep you're right there's definitely been a big change over the recent years, particularly since the lofts are now downtown....but it's still a huge adjustment for those coming from much larger cities that never shut down.
I moved from Michigan to Savannah area for the heat. I love it. Unfortunately it doesn’t rain much in this area. I also live for a few months a year in California. The sun in California is like nothing people in Georgia could ever imagine. It will burn you up even on a cold day
Lol…That’s the first time I’ve heard someone likes pollen and wise choice leaving during Masters…lucky you and thankfully you don’t have allergies. Thanks for watching
Grew up in Augusta, been living in Savannah since 2016. You think the heat, humidity, bugs, pollen etc is bad in AUG?? Shooot....i hate it here. Plus the stench of marshes...the spanish moss is pretty but its a gross parasite that carries chiggers. Ive seen some bugs in Sav that i never knew existed. Final conclusion: move to the mountains. 😂 oh and i forgot to mention the traffic...bad planning. At least Augusta did a lot of traffic planning that works. My hubby worked for the Tax commissioner Mr.Kendrick and he was awesome.
Savannah is beautiful and seems to have a unique historical style….the Spanish moss there is pretty but chiggers?! No thank you 😊 I agree with you about the infrastructure here is good with our current traffic… Hopefully it remains the same with the growth we’re experiencing. Thanks for watching!
I've visited Augusta several times over the years from Atlanta. The main drawback for me is not being close to a major airport. I know there's a local one, but that's not the same. I like Augusta too, because it's closer to SC beaches.
@@shawnjones9829 Oh my goodness, you’re absolutely correct… I recently flew out of Atlanta and was complaining about the same thing….Sometimes it’s more economical to fly from Atlanta but it touch and go.
I'm making a mental note. I must say you have beautiful hair. That heat will definitely make your hair look like that. I have been there a few times. Thanks for sharing!
Aww thanks..that's sweet....I can only wear my hair down from Fall - Spring here because once April hits the humidity is HEAVY in GA...so I'm forced to wear braids or a sew in mostly all Spring and Summer. 😊
I am interested in renting an apartment in Agusta..Do you help seniors find an apartment? What about 55 plus communities?? I appreciate the " real" about living in Agusta.
The heat is not a negative The heat is wonderful and it's normal and I love it I'm from New Jersey and New York and I would rather be warm than Freezing So stop complaining about the heat it's beautiful.
I moved to Grovetown in May of 2023 (4 months ago as of this comment) from NE Ohio. Here's my experience: Heat and humidity - Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The dog days of Summer in Ohio are similar, it's just here the dog days are all Summer. (Personally I love it!) Sunshine - No joke, it hits different than the Midwest. So much more sun, it's great but my wife did have an extended acne breakout that I'm wondering if this is why. Bugs - Haven't noticed them much. I'm in a newer development so I think that's the reason but bugs have been less of an issue then the old neighborhood I lived in back in Ohio. Growth - There's a lot of construction and traffic can be annoying at times. However, coming from a dying city in the rust belt, it's nice to feel pride that you live in a desirable growing area. City Life - Lived an hour outside of Cleveland, so I didn't have any city life anyway. lol Outdoors - Who doesn't like the outdoors? Hills & turns: It's beautiful! I love driving down some of those long curvy roads with the windows down on a hot summer day. Southern hospitality: Hospitality must be pretty good in NE Ohio too because I didn't notice a huge difference right away. But it's subtle. After a few months I really started to notice just how friendly a lot of people are down here. For example, I had to cross through a line one day. I said excuse me and the gentleman let me through. He then said "How are you today?". Kinda blew my mind because he was being genuine.
@GabeHandle Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I can definitely relate to it all and 100% agree. Regarding the sunshine and your wife’s acne I had a similar experience as I had a heat rash my first summer here, then my skin adjusted to the GA sun and I haven’t had the issue since. I wouldn’t trade my GA life for going back to live in the Midwest. Living in the Augusta Georgia area is what’s best for me and my family. Welcome to Georgia! 👍🏽💖🍑
Oh wow. My great grandmothers last name was Rollison and from what I learned somewhere in the chain the last name was changed from Rollerson to Rollison prior to her being born.
Wow! Maybe some relation to us because that’s definitely a unique name… not sure if there’s been a name change… I’ll have to inquire with my in-laws on that.
Im planning to move down there next year with my son who is 14. We will probably have a huge culture shock. We live in a rural area in northern Michigan.

I live out in the Grovetown area and the subdivisions are well ahead of the infrastructure. I am surrounded at every direction by road construction and going anywhere takes quite an extended amount of time just going 3 miles. Where I am, driving just 2 miles to the kroger takes 10-15 minutes. Thats THE biggest problem in the area.
Grovetown is definitely experiencing growing pains but thankfully there’s construction going on which is both good and bad ….good for the future but bad for the present due to causing traffic delays.
No city life (I would become bored) and winding turns and hills is a no for me. I use to live in NYC and now in the suburbs of MD just 30 minutes from Washington, DC. Maybe once I am 70 and wish to slow down. Thanks for sharing this video.
Absolutely we definitely have a slower pace here compared to the fast paced busy city life like you’ve experienced in NYC. Our area is generally a great haven for those wanting a quality lifestyle with a strong focus on family well-being. The winding turns & hills here may take a bit of adjustment for those coming from larger cities but they’re beautiful.
I relocated to the Savannah area from Chicagoland. I love being here where people are friendly. Thank goodness racial bigoty is low. Unfortunately, the prices are extremely high in Savannah.. We are considering Agusta. If something doesn't appear soon. Thanks for the video.
Hey fellow Chicago transplant! Augusta’s vibe is a bit more budget-friendly and has the southern charm and hospitality. Let me know if you want to grab a virtual coffee and chat more about it or if you plan to visit the area. I’d be happy to chat with you about it.
Other than the hills , this sounds a lot like my hometown Charleston SC , but more family friendly things to do , which is good . Sounds really nice !! Thanks for the information ℹ️
I love City Life I miss New Jersey and New York City when I first moved here it was funny just driving into Augusta even though it's not the same I started thinking of some cities in New Jersey and I was just feeling like I was oh I'm in Newark or I'm in some city and New Jersey even though I know I'm not but it was nice to reminisce and have that feeling
Glad you've adjusted well and I love suburban life which Evans and Grovetown reminds me of the Southern Suburbs of Chicago with the two lane roads, low night traffic and limited lights.
Thanks for commenting. That’s interesting to hear. Change can definitely be challenging and it’s constant in every community including Augusta. I strive to showcase the positive transformations while acknowledging the challenges which creates opportunities for improvement, innovation, and building a stronger sense of community. With this being your hometown I’m sure you’ve seen lots of changes and opportunities to make the community stronger.
I would love the friendly authenticity, ❤. She did a very good job explaining. I would def be lost because ive never traveled anywhere, but the heat would be hard as im already a very warm blooded person. I do wonder more about cost of living. I wanted to take a risk and move but am sooooo scared.
Move to the Augusta area if you want a small town feel with housing construction everywhere with Southern hospitality, southern food, & southern heat/humidity & southern storms then go for it! If you want hustling, bustling, public transit, pro sports teams, real diversity (I don’t think Augusta is diverse at all, it’s mainly just black & white people who are Christian, with some sprinkles of Hispanics here & there…not many Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Asians, Latinos, etc), and if you’re looking for cuisine outside of Southern Food & BBQ, then you might be better off looking for another area. But hey, it’s Georgia (outside Atlanta) so you know the housing is gonna be cheap!!!
For me, the friendliness has been a breath of fresh air… Definitely hot here in the summer, but feel free to reach out. I’ll be happy to give you more information in particularly talk to you to ease your fear.
Oh wow huge difference from Chicago and San Diego is SO expensive…I actually have Associates in Savannah who can help get you settled in that area if you would like… Just reach out and I can connect you 👍🏽👍🏽
I used to live in Albany GA and now im in Michigan. One thing I don't miss is the weather. The humidity mixed with the knats and mosquitoes.... no thank you. Up here i can go outside without getting eaten alive by these bugs 😂
It's a no for me when it comes to Michigan weather...I've had enough of the midwest to last me for a lifetime....the knats and mosquitoes here are interesting because my hubby and I can literally be out at the same time, he'll come in bit by the mosquitoes and fortuantely for me they don't really bother me. But I think it also depends upon diet. 🙂
One more thing: I work in tech and gave to travel. Last month, I had to go to Vegas, and NO LYFT DRIVER WOULD TAKE ME TO ATLANTA for the airport… when I flew back from Vegas, no Lyft driver agreed to drive me to a Augusta, so my friend had to take a 5-hour trip to bring me home at night.
Oh my goodness that’s horrible… Next time definitely try Groome shuttle.. they’ll take you to and from Augusta to the Atlanta airport and they’re convenient
If ima be honest augusta is the worst place to move to if you are a black person who may be in need of any type of government assistance or any kind of help... if you are not well put together you will not make it... you may survive but you will not thrive... sad but true
Great info..I live in Jacksonville fl but I'm from lincolnton ga..augusta is lacking when it comes to restaurants..the infrastructure needs an overhaul also..
Compared to Jacksonville, Augusta definitely doesn’t offer what you have available there. However, the good news is Augusta is continuously evolving. Thanks for your feedback!

In Augusta, GA your patio will have poop all over your furniture. From LIZARDS 🦎 and on your front door, you’ll see FROGS 🐸 I love the cost of living though. I live on 20% of my income, paying off debt, but unable to breathe outside in the Summer…
Oh wow I rarely see lizards and have only seen frogs a few times since moving here, but I think it really depends upon the area that you’re in because I was at my clients house the other day, and she has lots of lizards in her yard. I've lived in Augusta, GA since 1976 and we do have some activities, but it's not all that great right now. Downtown Augusta is not a place you want to be at night if you're alone. Richmond County has sorry law enforcement and high taxes. The neighboring county, Columbia County, is so much better - lower taxes, there's crime like any city (county), but a lot less than Augusta, more jobs and cleaner and more law abiding.

There are indeed several homeless people downtown… one reason is the weather is welcoming but we don’t have nearly as many as other places like LA, Chgo, etc… unfortunately, I think every city in America has homeless people 🤷🏽♀️ I actually serve to help feed the homeless… I think if we all do our part to help we can make a difference as unfortunately lots of people have fallen on hard times. And if most people are honest, most Americans are just a paycheck or a few from being homeless.
Well said. But, there is no diversity here, I'm from the bay area, we have samoans, mexicans, asians, and more. here is just black folks and white folks, and a few others sprinkled in. a few.
almost forgot, driving is not something there good at. and who in tf desinged these streets, I don't think they did desinged anything, they just paved over there old dirt roads and said, hell, now where like city folk. we got streets. and whats up with marteenez bein pronounced martin ez. Thanks for bringing that out....I was referring to diversity as far as black and white is concerned but you're right about the other cultures....we do lack a good mixture of multicultural families and individuals.
