As someone that has lived in Florida since 2006, I thought I'd address a few of these points. 1) just because you move to Florida doesn't mean you have to buy a house---for many, renting is fine. 2) hurricanes---don't live on the coast, and don't live in a flood plain. Flood plains can be researched online before moving 3) humidity; maybe in the southern part of the state, but in the northern part where I live, humidity (and temps) are low from Nov to May. 4) mask mandates; actually, Florida is one of the most easy-going when it comes to masks. I have a friend who lives in Philly, and they are mask nazis up there

I have lived in Florida for 42 years so I guess I can consider myself a Floridian. There are a few things here that irritate the hell out of me but I suppose I would find them to be the same or worse in any other state. I live here because : 1. I enjoy the climate, and believe or not, I like a little bit of humidity in the air. I’ve spent time in Las Vegas where it was so dry that I couldn’t wait to get back to Florida and breathe in some good ole humidity. 2. I like paying less taxes. No states income tax. No City income tax. No personal property tax. 3. I like going to the beach. You’re never more than an 60 minute ride to the beach no matter where you live in Florida. 4. I enjoy sports, all kinds of sports, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and NASCAR. You name it, Florida has it all. Top notch college and professional sports teams galore. From Miami to Daytona Beach, Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville, Tallahassee, and Jacksonville,

From where I live in SWFL, many have come from upstate New York, which leans heavily red. I find it just as important to not ignorantly discriminate against a new comer from New York, as it seems a lot of Floridians conflate New York to mean NYC.

Yes one of the major reasons is that the people down south hate New Yorkers and New Jersey people. It's the difference in the environments if you would have take a southern person and increase their population by 800 times that they would become loud and overpowering to and of course more pushy it's automatic. If you would increase their cost of living by 800% they would work a hundred times faster and more and be willing to be more aggressive as well. There's a lot of factors to take into consideration like they would have to increase their income do the High Cost of Living 800 times their cost of living as well. So throw in that stress factor. It's just that we're products of our environment and the people downtown like I said they don't like New Yorkers clearly so it is a click Factor you're walking into

I lived in Miami for 16 years and it is time to move out of there. The biggest red flag was when we had to evacuate in 2017 due to hurricane Maria heading directly towards our area and it took us 40 hours to drive out of Florida. Hurricanes continue to worsen, Florida is a tragedy waiting to happen being so over populated within big cities and on 2 ways out: I95 and Turnpike. I love Florida but for the way is going is going to take less than 80 years to be under water. Many sections of Brickell are sinking. Make the right decisions before you move to states within hurricane and tornado alleys. It is not worth the stress and potential loss of life. Besides Miami is a city with no soul. Too many wanna be Billionaires and Millionaires. Miami is infested with shady and fraudsters.

Are you still living in Florida? The humidity is serious and something not be brushed off. I was born and raised here and am now planning to move to a different state for many reasons. Also, if you rent, you should reconsider moving here. Rent prices are exploding! People are being kicked out of their homes because owners are selling the properties and chargin extremely high rent. Violent crime is another reason to avoid Florida. So much of Florida has changed the past few years, it's not the sam place in any good way it used to be. Avoid Florida at all costs would be advice as a long time resident who is leaving.

Florida resident giving you real reasons: -bad people from other places come to Florida to hide. transients and psychos abound. -high crime and drugs, even in “good” areas. You either live in a gated community or get a security system. -cost of living is high. rent, insurance, energy and especially food. -wages are low compared to high cost of living. Even skilled trades do not pay much as other parts of the country because no unions. -boom and bust economy cycle is a way of life. prices and income go up, people rush to move here and it collapses after a few years. then it starts over again. -bad traffic. the population far exceeds what roads and interstates were designed to handle. -poor infrastructure and urban planning. no sidewalks, no street lights, unreliable trash pick up, not enough services like schools, hospitals and fire stations, tolls roads everywhere, few rest areas, etc. -INSECTS. You cannot sit outside without a screened in area. you cannot walk in wooded areas. You cannot walk barefoot in the grass. invasive ants in your home are fact of life. mosquitoes, lizards, love bugs, noseeums, cockroaches, scorpions, venomous spiders, termites, maggots all over your trash can, all are a fact of life. they never go dormant and are always around. -allergens. You think you don’t have asthma? you might find out you do after you move here. cockroaches, mold and pollen are in massive abundance year round. that’s three of the four main triggers 100% of the time. -red tide and toxic algae.

I had to flee the state it got so bad. I lived in a nice quiet, beachside town and was planning to live their my entire life. It got invaded by all the northeastern hordes and was ruined by overdevelopment and traffic. All the nice spots got bulldozed over to build giant condos, every piece of empty land and forest was paved over for massive housing developments. The traffic got so bad it would take 30 minutes to drive a few blocks and would have to sit through at least 3 rotations of lights at each intersection. Plus it got too expensive and they voted up the taxes.

Not any different then Florida. Human beings by nature are territorial. Yes house is crazy now but Vegas is up too and medium home prices are 330k to live in the dessert. It's California moving in. I’m an owner of a small auto repair shop in Silicon Valley CA. I’m moving to Florida by the end of this year. I never got into politics but I have come to realize that my decision is based purely off politics. My Governor hasn’t handle COVID well, my local government still has many businesses and schools shut down, the vaccine in CA aren’t being administered efficiently, CA public schooling is one of the lowest ranked in the nation, and to top it all off by 2035 CA will ban the sell of gasoline powered cars. This will directly affect what I do for a living and I have decided to leave while I’m in a good financial position than to wait until things may possibly get worse. Thank you very much for your videos Michael they were very helpful. I look forward to purchasing a new home in winter park and opening a repair and shop. If you think Florida's governor has handled COVID-19 well, then you don't know how to read statistics. If that's your criterion, then you ought to move to Vermont. Like Florida, lots of people in Vermont have guns, so it sounds like it may suit you.
@mariodavila2852
@mariodavila2852 2 года назад
@@Johnny.Fedora Florida currently has the lowest covid rate in the country, a high vaccination rate, the fastest growing economy, and is attracting supply shippers from CA ports to alleviate the supply chain crisis. (You should actually research some stats) Vermont is a tiny state that does not even have a population of 1 million and has high taxes. Why would a small business owner from CA move to an irrelevant state like Vermont? You can't even compare CA to Vermont like you can with FL. And how are guns relevant to my first post? I'm looking for a state with a robust economy, sunny weather, diverse culture, and low taxes. People have guns in CA also, crime is growing so much that rich people in SF are hiring former police officers as private security guards.

@@mariodavila2852, sorry, I didn't realize you were in the illicit drug or construction (i.e., Mafia) trade. Carry on, my good man. We can wait for the next COVID wave together. I'm sure you understand that the unvaccinated population is not uniformly distributed -- there are pockets of unvaccinated, even in Florida's counties. All we have to do is wait for a tourist entering through MIA or the seaport to bring us the next variant. Here's a warning: if you have a business that requires educated or skilled employees, good luck to you in Florida. You ought to pay for your current employees to move. And if you think Florida's economy is in any way comparable to California's, then you need to study the subject more. You ought to learn what the economic engines are in both states, and how much wealth the SF area and LA generate, and how they do it.

Regarding Native Floridians, I’m happy to say that I’m not one of those who unwelcome people...I knew from a very young age that Florida is a very “special State” and I have loved having the opportunity to meet people from all over the World! You can’t live somewhere that is close to paradise...and keep it all to yourself!! Haha 😊 Now, I will say that it concerns me how many people they allow to move here daily, as I mentioned in my previous comment because I know of many other places that put a cap and limit on having people move there in order to have better management and being overpopulated, chaos and destruction, etc...

I moved to Miami Beach from Boston December 1st. I’m moving back next week and couldn’t be happier. Some reasons why. 1. Spanish is the spoken language. I’m Brazilian, my first language is Portuguese but I understand and respect the country I live in enough to speak the language. If you don’t speak, they get frustrated and keep speaking Spanish. 2. Feels like I’m somewhere in Latin America, with nicer buildings. 3. People are sketchy, sneaky and try to take advantage of you. Be asked to pay tips after you were already charged 20% is outrageous. 4. Computers and softwares in businesses sucks. Working in the food industry, I felt multiple times I was still living in 1994. 5. Spring break - homelessness - working for peanuts - people are extremely rude, please and thank you doesn’t existe on the vocabulary etc etc etc Very important: residents and coworkers in general are very gueto, and manners do not exist. Cursing at work is considered normal in a daily bases. This is a generalization but it’s all true in many levels. I’ve met amazing Floridians and transplanted locals as well. Miami is beautiful and I’ll be back to visit. I would think 10000000 times before trying to escape the winter. I’m serious. Peace ✌🏼

Just left Florida for a smaller state, a bigger home, and land. It's hot and hotter in Florida, we were always under a "hurricane warning" or flood warning, etc. Electricity always went out because of the weather. I will say Florida is GREAT if all you care about is hanging out at the beach. It's also a great place to live if you've got a lot of money, you can buy into whatever neighborhood/city you want, and if you're just really tired of freezing cold temperatures. But like Michael said, be ready for heavy traffic, high insurance, awful humidity about 8 months out of the year, and rain, rain, rain, hurricanes, hurricanes, hurricanes. Otherwise, enjoy!

It's a big difference moving to Florida when you already have a family nucleus there. When you're there alone, even as a family, it's harder. I lived in SoFla for 5 years, after spending 4 in SoCal, and while I did prefer FL to CA, even without the Winters that I hate, I did not like FL better than the part of Northern NJ where I grew up. I love living on the water and vacationing on the beach in the Caribbean, so I knew that when I left NJ for good, I'd have to be on the water. I wouldn't go back to FL, but the Southern tip of NC ended up being ideal. I live on the River and am just minutes from some of the nicest beaches in the Country, IMO. I had friends who left NJ for Florida's West Coast, thinking the grass was greener. They didn't have family there, and within a year, they missed their friends and family in NJ so much that they left Florida and moved right back to the town they moved out from. My advice would be to take an extended vacation to Florida first. Spend part on the East Coast and part on the West, and see if it feels like a "fit" to you. Had I done that, I'm not sure I would have moved there.

Frequent car accidents (as described in this video) mean higher car insurance rates across the board for everyone even if you are the best driver who never filed a claim, never been at fault (if you filed a claim), and never gotten a ticket for moving violations. Rising because people coming from big cities like San Fran and LA are coming with a ton of money and driving up the market. Definitely pushed by the pandemic. 3. Hello young man. With respect to locals not wanting New Yorkers coming to Florida who can blame them. I'm from New York and I totally agree 😀. I'm in Florida to get away from liberal NY policies, collectively called corruption. As for insurance I pay $1200 a year 1700 sqft 2/2 Condo in Boca across A1A from the beach. I'm sure there is a big insurance bill in the maintenance fee. Keep the great videos coming.

Glad to hear that Larry especially now. When I made this video I wasn’t really referring to myself in my own opinions but a lot has changed since then. People are coming to Florida now for the freedom along with everything else. I think everyone living here has it in their best interest to keep it free✌️

A lot of people where I live in SWFL, many have come from upstate New York, which leans heavily red. I find it just as important to not ignorantly discriminate against a new comer from New York, as it seems a lot of Floridians conflate New York to mean NYC.

Florida is just far to overcrowded with uncontrolled growth. It's not a very wide state so completely developing a peninsula prone to hurricanes, with limited infrastructure is not a good quality of life. I think far to many people move to the state and don't really think it through. Yes there is something like 1000 people a day move to the state, but don't think a high number are not leaving the state also. There are reasons people leave Florida and its because they see where its headed. I personally don't think the state can handle the constant increase in population. A strong gov't is needed that can direct the growth properly. The fools that have been in office for years have helped ruin Florida. Their greedy, selfish and not capable of running a state with almost 22 million people in it, and some 100 million visitors a year in non Pandemic years. Only a fool would move to Florida for the weather, and whatever else they think is so great. Without considering how will the problems of Florida impact my life, because they surely will. Always have the income to leave Florida if it doesn't work out. Otherwise I hope people find what their looking for if they move to Florida.

One point you missed is that Florida is flat the highest point in Florida is only a few hundred feet above sea level. So when the wind blows it blows hard. Not to mention the flooding certain low areas inland flood from a storm. True point about the accidents, I had two living in Coral Springs before moving up to Tampa. But since I moved and got my f450 w/ 6" lift not a one, they go out of their way to avoid me, I guess they're scared of getting crushed.😆😆😆 It's worth it to live in paradise. As a local I welcome anyone who's thinking of moving here, life is short enjoy the moment and live your life.

I could say the same about the Texas drivers. I've been here twenty years and was in SEVEN accidents. I wasn't at fault in any of them. Four of them, I was at a dead stop, either at a traffic light or a Stop sign. I'm not even counting the numerous close calls. People can't drive in Texas either. One good thing I will say about my former home state of NJ is that they may be rude drivers, but at least they are paying attention to what they are doing for the most part.

I've grown up in the Miami area and lived here most of my life, and I can tell you, unless you've been blessed by God or your involvement in the illicit drug trade, in many ways, Florida is a shithole -- an unaffordable shithole. (Hey, I'm just borrowing Donald Trump's word here.) If you can afford to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf all the time, good for you. If you want to raise a family and live a sane life WITHOUT a government that's closer to a Mafia family than democracy, then there are better choices, blessed lady.

I was born and raised. I'm good not going back. The Covid protocols do not bother me-- i don't like wearing a mask but i also don't trust other people to do the right thing. What bothers me is the high price of either buying or renting. If you buy a new house, the yards in new homes is abysmal and you are right up on the property line. All i kept thinking is how claustrophobic the homes look. That along with driving (US1 used to be a good alternative to the turnpike but wow, both are just horrible.) I hate driving in FL.

Also, the idea that the beach is right around the corner is laughable from folks who just never lived here, especially Miami-Dade. Miami beach is a pain to go to unless you live nearby. The parking sucks. Going down to the keys is crazy cause the roadway is still just 2 roads (with the occasional widening to allow "passing" which just makes traffic worse).

FL might be underwater in 80 years because of the lack of care we take on such things as the ocean and earth. Pollution, trash in the ocean killing it, the temperature rising, melting the Antarctic. It’s a real thing, we all need to do our part in making a positive impact and we can slow down the process. 🥰

Florida is still a swing state! Let’s stop making things political, move here if you want I don’t care where you’re from. “Red state” or “blue state” people are people, every state has good and bad people.
