hahaha those are 5 of the BEST reasons to move to Lafayette. Keeps out the riff raff!

I grew up in Lafayette and live here to this day, and it’s DEFINITELY the land of the entitled. The high schools in the Acalanes district are seen by the other schools around as stuck up rich spoiled kids. And it’s definitely somewhat true. I work as a driving instructor in the area and from all my students around the east bay see it that way. And from my auhsd (the school district in Lafayette) kids, I definitely see it. Half of them get new cars as their first, and even if it’s a hand me down it’s like a 2 year old ford bronco or jeep or 4runner. But I will say, since it’s so rich and entitled, it’s a comfortable area to live. Everyone is super nice, friendly, easy going here. Bc they don’t really have to worry about money. It feels like a small town where many people all know each other and that sense of community extends to the other two small, very wealthy cities that border it of moraga and orinda. It’s known as “Lamorinda” by everyone who lives here. It also borders Walnut Creek which is currently being gentrified and turned into a smaller, more wealthy version of Berkeley. Overall, love the area, but it comes at a steep price. If money isn’t an issue, you’ll love this area. If money is an issue, you’ll probably not be quite as happy. A beautiful area that are less expensive would be Walnut Creek (but that’s only 1 step down, most houses are still around 1.5-2mil)
