I lived in Pentagon City for 4 years before the pandemic and worked in DC. Traffic was not an issue because the majority of time I did not have a car, never drove to work. Housing is expensive! Other than that I could live for about the same amount of money as I live in Kentucky. You can spend more but you don’t have to. Somethings were less, no car expenses, utilities were less since living in a smaller space, no yard expense. For me life was easier in Pentagon City.
Any true DC native knows that DC is not that safe and uppitdy as people try to make it seem. Most DC natives recommend to live in the outskirts of DC such as Arlington, Silver Spring, etc. and travel to DC for work and nightlife. A lot of gentrification is going on in DC and the attempts of erasure of “chocolate city.” Yet transplants are complaining about being around “urban people.”
This video is very much a part of the problem with DC. These folks COMPLETELY ignoring true Washington and they are focusing on a certain demographic who wants to live in limited areas of the city. These are all the people who truly have no sincere interest in DC other than the gentrified areas or the less Black and Brown areas. This video is so lopsided and skewed that it’s mind boggling. I have lived in DC for my entire life. If you are interested in DC, and you have a sincere interest, don’t listen to this guy. His knowledge and interests are so limited.
