Checking into the Bahamas can be overwhelming but it's really not that hard, except for that one thing that took me forever to figure out on Click to Clear and all the stuff we needed to import our pets to the Bahamas.

that underwater toy is pretty neat. they have these rocker stoppers you hang off the side of the boat that are supposed to help eliminate some of the rocking motion when anchored. should check into it.

Well done! There is also customs and immigration right where you saw the Seaplane dock at fisherman's village. Technically, only the master is supposed to get off the boat and go to immigration/customs. You can make a wake between fisherman's village and big game (where you tied up your dinghy for immigration/customs). The other customs/immigration location is at the South Bimini airport for people that go to Bimini Sands or Port Royal.

Congratulations on a safe and successful crossing ! The most useful information for me living in Australia was not how to check in (sorry), but that you still have Tang orange drink in America. Unfortunately we cannot get it any more over here in Australia. Anyway, enjoy the Bahamas, and the warmth, and the Tang.

Nice sail from the Keys- best sailing angle for slow to moderate speed sailboat. Good tips on lower cost way to check in and navigating the Bahamas website. At the beginning of Covid in 2020, Bahamas required a new gov't conducted Covid test every time you sailed/went to a new island- was ridiculously expensive. If you are considering sailing to other Caribbean islands, there are online sites that sell most of the island nations flags (like 12 flags) in a kit for around $40. May not be the highest quality but ok for short stays or you reinforce the flapping edge to keep it from fraying.

Yes they did have those requirements during Covid but have discontinued them, but have not updated the website as of the point we checked in. Great tip for flags. Thanks!

We have checked in at West End twice and didn’t go inside either time. We anchored outside and Stephen took the dinghy inside. We never asked ahead we just anchored without asking.

Yeah, it happens but it’s the exception not the rule. According to customs they want you at the marina. 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@Spoondrifters I heard that if you call ahead they will tell you that, but if you anchor out and just walk into immigration they don’t ask any questions. Our reasoning has always been that we are not 100% sure about the depth inside there and that makes us nervous with our draft. So we go with the idea that if they want us to come inside we will move after verifying the depth with our hand held depth finder. So far they haven’t ask us to go inside. I am praying they never do lol

Not sure no wake zones refer to small dinghies, although i wouldn’t go crazy, i think normal operation speed is okay, like 8-10 knots, but I don’t know the local law, so you maybe right.. anyway thanks guys! 😊

Yes they will chase you down here in Bimini and give you a ticket. Other places we’ve been since, not so much. 😝

They do that when you visit immigration. Click to clear is for customs where you declare your boat, dinghy, and animals. You upload all your information on their website so they don’t ask for it when you arrive.

What about not talking about pets? Forget permits. It’s better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission . What verification do they do for pets?

They can confiscate your pets if you haven’t declared them. It’s not worth the risk for us.

We went to the west end and went to the marina. We did not need to pay to be at the marina. After we tried to fill out the online click to clear and couldn’t, the customs and imagination folks were amazing. Even with a fire arm onboard we were easily checked in. Checking out, before we left for the DR, on the other hand.🥲 come to find out; not necessary! Happily in Luperon now/ after years of hard work, much like ya’ll, we are so happy for you guys.
