We are a sailing family sharing our adventures as we cruise fulltime and explore the world. We are excited to share boat hacks, sailing tips, and great anchorages to help make your sailing dreams come true!
In 2018 our family bought a hurricane damaged sailboat in preparation for sailing around the world together. She needed a lot of work and our budget was tight so we spent the next three years doing the refit by ourselves. In 2021 we put her back in the water, moved aboard and started learning how to sail her. Todd and Tammy now have a combined 6500 nautical miles under our belt and are excited to see what next season brings.

Basically we have the mast boot wooden shims and rubber mast tape on the outside. The shims keep our mast boot tight. I took rubber mast tape and heat shrink and heated around as to not allow water to come into place with it… working great no leaks… May want to try that instead of metal cause the salt air will rust out the screws and tighteners… Have a great one !!!
My wife Jesie Mae and I are looking forward to our trip down the ICW this coming October. We both appreciate your videos and the insights they provide.
I actually get what you’re saying and yes you are right sometimes we are so consumed with we got to do this and that you miss the just hanging together. Since my accident my son from the uk has been here and we had planned so much and I feel bad it his only vacation yet he seems quite content just soaking up the atmosphere. I know it’s not quite the same but I get what your saying
In this short you're cleaning that you didn't pay attention to little details and now that Abigail is gone you're wishing you had. I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit. I do believe you did pay attention to the little details you tried to help them grow and do things but they were individuals and sometimes they chose not to. So there is a part of this video that is true that you should live life as full as you can because you have no idea what tomorrow holds but like I said don't short change yourself for what you did do because I think you did do the little things
Good job on the diesel leak! If you have trouble with the copper washers and you don’t have a spare you can heat them cherry red ( blow torch or stove) and plunge in cold water . It anneals the copper to make it soft again , only work with copper , and some copper alloys. (They work harden when compressed) Cheers Warren
Todd you're always very busy you make me tired just watching you cuz you never resting You're always doing something you're always doing something, none stop, boy I'm wore out
The larger spiders are Joro Spiders. They are harmless, but some people find their size intimidating. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichonephila_clavata The smaller, rounder, brown spiders are Cross Orbweaver spiders. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Araneus_diadematus
I once did an online survey that would give you suggestions on where you should move to. Based on my answers, the top recommendation was Edenton, NC. Some time later, on a drive from our home in Massachusetts down to Florida, we stopped there just to check it out. It is a beautiful little town. But between the exit off the interstate and the town, we drove past an awful lot of nothing and not much to get there!
Hi y’all doing. You guys are the best. #1 couple on S/V channels. We live part time on the Chesapeake in Maryland, eastern shore. Are you in Chesapeake at this time? Would love to meet ya’s in person. Dam crab pots! But it’s a living for most, can’t knock them too much until you snag one!❤😎💕⛵️⚓️
Todd: If you get bit by one of those spiders, try climbing the mast without any assist. You might also detect danger earlier than others. OR.... Spiderman is just a comic book.
Todd, you could have left the motor in slow forward gear and tied the line off the middle ship cleat. That would have got the boat close and tight to the dock. Tammy, it is not recommended to get on a wooden dock bare foot, you can get hurt, it is better to wear shoes when docking. Cheers, Richard
Went down the alligator canal 30+ years ago in a small sailboat on the way to winter in the Florida keys. The leaves were turning colors and falling in the canal, it was beautiful.
you should loosen your and than you can center the mast dont try to force it over. After that tune the rig it might be too tight on on e side while you are at it do a rig check top to bottom
I met y'all there in Morgan City even ask if y'all needed ride ta store are laundry mat and gave me a card ta follow y'all and I have. Quite the journey I'll say. Just wanted say hello an be safe
Please check the tension lines that I think are supposed to to balance the mast. Just check. I think there is a device that you used to make sure all the lines are even. Sounds almost like having even tire pressure. Hahaha.
The only times a cruiser should rush is to get out of the way of a hurricane or cyclone, and when your visa is about to run out, otherwise take your time and enjoy cruising, remember if you missed something you can always come back and see it next time.
I like your DYI projects. I’ve always heard that cruising is fixing your boat in exotic places…and being that I was born and raised in the Good Ol’ North State, I feel comfortable in saying that there are far more exotic locations. 😂😂😂 (But I do love eastern North Carolina. 🥰)
Good for you guys take your time there is no need to rush to go anywhere, that’s why you guys made that choice to live on the boat there is no rush you guys do you have fun.
No people like to complain. And they only see things through their view they can't seem to appreciate someone else having a different view. To them I say you know sometimes you don't have to say anything if you disagree. Just remember if you're not paying their rent or you're not sleeping with them and they have not asked your opinion then maybe you shouldn't give it especially if it's not supportive.
I’d be more worried why your mast is trying to kick itself over to one side - either the lowers are pulling it over something else. Otherwise, great vid!
