today I got rejection for a change made to a previously accepted design, and I am really confused because all I did was to change to the design's 'brand name' to another existing brand name of my own so that I can view all my designs under one single brand name, anything else stays unchanged. The generic amazon warning email does not help at all. really confused and do not how to avoid future rejection since both my brand names are on amazon and I just change one to the other, that is all.
I feel like giving up on Merch. Both my designs have been rejected (two) I’ve not copied anyone they are my illustrations, I used the word ‘panda’ and apparently it’s trademarked!!
I have a bunch of panda designs. I don't know if panda by itself is trademarked but there are a ton of Panda with another word that are trademarked. I think you might have used something else with Panda... like Panda Express or something. I would double check.
They don't always make sense to me. They reject logical designs and fabricate stories. I am confident that my design is mine and that I created it. I mean, I've been rejected at least ten times online and I'm still not selling on Amazon. It's a waste of time and energy.
I’m just starting and the amount of designs I need to alter just by using the word “Life” in my designs is infuriating! Looks like I might be ok in the US.. but someone in Europe has trademarked that word FOR EVERYTHING! I don’t know how they can allow trademarking a common word we all use.
June, you should delve deeper in to the USPTO issue. Many people have issues when they even include, innocently, words or combinations of words in their titles and descriptions that have registered copyrights. As we know many English words and combinations of words that you might want to use just to describe your work will result in a rejection if the algorithm matches the pattern registered in the USPTO.
Just had a design rejected for 2.6 promoting violence because I used the word "screamed" on a shirt. Mind you, it was a weight loss niche shirt so if I was promoting violence it was against calories! Go figure!
Great video. I had an abstract design of the pride colors uploaded to Merch for just phone cases but it was rejected. No idea why. The keywords were no different than what other shirt sellers are using for pride products. I was off Merch for a couple of years and just decided to upload again, albeit at Tier 25, one per day.
I have added more 2 products a couple days later and those 2 were rejected because inflammatory issue? It's just the meme shirt about bathroom and I have no idea it can humiliate anyone? So curious.
What about products that were already active and after modifying something they become rejected, but are still active for sale? Should I delete them or leave them like this?
@@DetourShirts They were all active for sale, but with the status of rejected, 16 were suddenly rejected and the truth is I'm worried, I don't know if to delete them or after a few days they will return to their normal status. Hi Juna! HELP! First off, thanks for your awesome content. Always helpful and to the point in the most chill way. It's great. I searched your library of videos for "rejection" because I just got THREE Merch rejections on one design! Ahhhh! The interesting part is that the design is already live on a standard T-shirt since Oct 2020. It just started to sell so I added a sweatshirt, V-neck and long sleeve. So the add-ons were rejected for trademark even though the original standard T-shirt is still live. The shirt design is a line from a popular Netflix comedy series. There are dozens of other Merch shirts (checked, they are MERCH) with other funny quotes that are live (including mine). I re-checked trademark. No words or combination of words come up. Any insights on how a live design stays live but the add-on products are rejected? Do I contact Merch to explain? Can rejections ever be removed with an acceptable explanation? Or lick the wounds and move on? Thank you very much!!
It happens all the time... there are a couple of reasons... First, your design could have been okay when you uploaded it but now (a few weeks later or a few months later) it's not okay because a new trademark was added. So when add another product it goes through the review process again and this time it will get hit with a trademark infringement.... Other possible causes would be new rules MBA comes up with or it could be that your first design was lucky and didn't get caught on it's initial upload (this happens a lot).... hope that explains it
I just got the 5.1 rejection. My shirt is in the "just here for the boos" Halloween shirt niche, but I left youth size out. I put my own spin on the shirt though, so the shirt doesn't say "just here for the boos", but I did put that in title and used a brand name that I saw was doing well (not sure if using a random preexisting brand name with other designs like yours is ok or not, but it mainly seems the brand name thing is for SEO and not actually a legitimate brand). I think it was because I put "imported" and "100 % cotton" or something in my feature bullets (all I did was copy the first two bullets from someone else so not sure why it's not ok. Anyway, I resubmitted, hopefully it gets accepted. Thanks
"I'm just here for the boos" is trademarked. You should also leave out words like 100% cotton and imported. Also it's not a good idea to copy bullets. I would suggest writing your own. You also really need to check TOS (terms of service) and USPTO before uploading anything on Amazon. Good luck.
Yeah... it really is the luck of the draw... somethings get through and others don't.... remember it's not just about the design... if you use trademarked words or anything against TOS you can get designs rejected.
They rejected "Dogs leave paw prints all over your heart" and I do not know why. they are saying if there are future rejections they will terminate. This is my fourth rejection and I am at tier 10. Nothing sold as been sold since I joined two months ago and I have been driving traffic from twitter and Pinterest (organically). Is this a scam? I am so frustrated. I checked youth. I wonder if that is why. I see other designs on Amazon with "Dogs leave paw prints on your heart". Do you know what is going on? I feel they are out there to get me. I checked trade mars and it says PAW PRINTS are trade marked, however, it is for pet supplies and medication. wth? But wouldn't they take down the other PAW PRINTS related designs?
It's not a scam... I would take a look at all the words you are using... It's not just the title.... you could be using trademarked words in your brand, bullets or description...you also might want to at the reason you got in your email... that might give you a clue.
Same here. Just got to tier 25 (it was so long and so hard) and got a third rejection with a same e-mail that you have got. I couldn’t gather myself to go to their website for one week out of frustration and now I’m scared to make any move, add a new design etc.
I've had a couple rejections and cannot wrap my mind around as to why. I've searched every single word through trademarking, even those in descriptions and can't figure anything out. Help!
@@DetourShirts I've made a few Bridgerton inspired shirts and they are selling great. I made a few more and they have been rejected. I checked trademarks, everything. Even went through descriptions just making sure I didn't accidentally use a phrase or something that happened to be trademarked (did that once before)
If we are selling in the US, do we need to look up trademarks/copyrights for other countries? Like Canada, for instance, would we have to look up trademarked/copyrights from there, too? Or, since we are making it in the US and selling in the US, is it okay?
Great question. I think "wooden" might be okay but "wood" isn't. I haven't tried it though because I don't have wooden texture design. You could also try "Natural" or "Woodgrain"
I wish I knew something.....but if it was me I would work on my portfolio and apply again with a link to awesome tshirt that I made on RedBubble or something
Nice Video! I was so stupid. My Slots were full, had enough sales for next Tier Up. But after 2 months of waiting i decided to rotate more designs and guess what happened? I got an rejection. 😓 Do you know reasons for a missing tier up? I bought some pop sockets to get the tier up fastet. But afaik this is not prohibited or do you prefer buying own shirts instead? I don't think you can miss a tier up... either you tier up or you don't.... sometime Amazon takes a while to tier you up...maybe that's what you mean... and you can buy as many of you own stuff as you want...they all count towards your sales. It is not prohibited.
If anyone can help I will appreciate it...I have a live t-shirt at 19.99$ with 4 color options and already sold 3 and I found another " copy" same t-shirt 14.95$ with more color options but doesn't show on my dashboard and I'm pretty sure I didn't posted on that price and with those options. We should try our best to not get any rejections at all. Sometimes rejections happen even when we are careful. There isn't a actual number of rejections that will get you kicked off of Amazon. I think if we are really trying our best to follow the rules we should be okay. That's a long way of saying, that if we are trying our best to follow ther rules we shouldn't have to worry so much about rejections and getting kicked out of Merch.
Are designs about 2020 ok? I got rejected for one. While I think it was because of one keyword I used, I'm afraid to resubmit and get another rejection since this is literally my first design.
Can i use the word “fvck” it on the design itself and titles with the U being replaced to V? And as long as i dont check the youth will it still get rejected? Pls help
I just got hit with the 3.3 for saying "marble" wish I would have seen this video sooner! 😂Any idea how many times you cabn get rejected before they shut you down? or does it vary by severity? I'm sure it happens ALOT by complete accident.
