Hi Mrs. Mary, my baby is 15 months, and non verbal. My husband and I are working on him with tips from your channel and others while waiting for an assessment appointment. We live in Vietnam, I'm fluent in Vietnamese and English, my husband only speaks English, our other kids speak 2 languages. Our dilemma is that, if we teach our baby in English only, he can't go to Vietnamese school later, and if we teach him in Vietnamese only, my husband can't communicate with him at all, or can we teach him in both??? We are stuck. Could you please give us some advice on this? Thank you so much.
That's a tricky situation with the language! I would normally suggest that you teach him the language that he will use in school and out in the community, but if he wouldn't be able to communicate with dad, perhaps English is more important for now. How do you look at preemies do you evaluate them according to their adjusted age or chronological age? I have an 19 month old with autism traits adjusted age 15 months. One Neurodevelopmental doctor diagnosed my child at level 2 autism I got a second opinion and was suggest to wait until his adjusted age. ABA in my area have a 4 month waiting list. What’s your opinion?
