Hi friends, thank you so much for clicking on and watching my video, it means more to me than you know 😊 I wanted to add some important caveats to this video as I acknowledge there is a level of privilege to the discussion about workplace red flags. I might get some feedback from people saying that I'm being a brat, I'm too picky, too sensitive, etc. and I will take that feedback. Certainly, the ability to turn down a job offer because you sensed some red flags in the interview is a privilege. It implies that you have some sort of safety net or maybe multiple job offers (due to having a skill that's in high demand) that you don't have to accept the first offer that comes your way if you have a bad feeling about it. However, if you are worried about how you will be able to afford rent next month, maybe it won't matter to you that much if the hiring manager talked to you in a condescending tone in the interview. I obviously encourage everyone to do what is best for you and prioritize what needs to be prioritized. Wishing everyone the best of luck in their search for work that is supportive, not only financially but also mentally/emotionally 😊

For me, the biggest red flag I hit was negative feedback given badly. I am the type of person that takes feedback well, but I was constantly feeling that the PRs were them vs me rather than us vs the problem. I also asked for quantitative / clear ways to track improvement, and they gave me confusing excuses.

Hey Audrey, I hope you're doing well. I recently discovered your channel, and I was so sad when I saw that you last posted months ago (prior to this video). If you've been busy or taking a break from RU-vid, I get it mama, but if it's just the casual trouble of consistency, then please work on it babe, because my oh my...you are NEEDED on these RU-vid streets. Your delivery, voice, diction, beauty, calm nature, and how you break down your points. The world needs to see more of you. Thank you for helping me (without even knowing). Love you❤

Look out for comments during the interview e.g. "we are like family", the fact that the interviewers are bragging about overseas studies more than talking about the job role.

It is sad how common these red flags are in workplaces across industries. A lot of systemic change needs to happen in order for these red flags to be minimized, and we all know how slow systemic change is. Thankfully, after the pandemic and the whole Great Resignation trend, companies are realizing they will need to make significant changes if they want to retain their employees and as a result be in good financial health. While these changes are still being made, I hope you are looking out for yourself and find work that allows you to keep the lights on whilst also serving you mentally and emotionally!

HI Audrey, I just left a toxic job. Boss would disparage me and insult me and say I was not good enough to pursue my career goals. It destroyed my confidence. It took a long time to leave. I wish I had left sooner. I would love it if you could comment with some advice and tips on how to build my confidence back. Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a negative experience with an unsupportive boss. I've been there myself and I know how it can hurt your confidence 🫠 Two things helped me a lot. One, knowing that this is just one person's perspective of you and it's not an objective reflection of you as a person. Two, having positive experience with colleagues who do believe in me and think highly of me helped rebuild my belief in myself. I hope this helps!

I felt like we are two different worlds… try working as a roofer, paver, and construction workers. Most men just deal with it and suffer in silent. We don’t have the luxury just to quit or complain. Row well and live.

Thank you for your comment and for sharing your perspective. You are not wrong that this discussion does involve a level of privilege depending on the angle you look at it from. While I'm not familiar with the industry myself, the construction industry sounds like it is rampant with toxic mentalities and is a generally cut-throat environment to work in. I'm sorry that you have had to suffer in silence and I hope you know that you don't have to settle for a workplace that is making you miserable and perhaps there are other companies within your industry where you will feel better (or at least you won't be as miserable). Wishing you all the best!

🤩hey man, that's funny, I just had the same thing happen to me as Zee_Z 13 hrs ago. Apparently the same algorythmus that led us here!🍀 I am also here for the very first time and was visibly touched by her message. By the way, I'm just looking in here from Germany. I do not know if you are a believer, girl, but I myself believe that some here were directly animated by God to tell you a few promising words. Just be sure that you are very valuable, I think that not for nothing you have just now received two independent testimonies from us! Knock yourself out! 💪--and stay with this right and important authentic sincerity. 🙏Greetings from Frankfurt am Main. 🖖👍👍👍

@@fromaudreykao please don't mention it. How good are the right words at the right time. And this is noticed by those who adhere to Kant's second categorical imperative. So, I can't go into everything in your statement now, but I can still leave my juice about the explicit "generation-conditioned communication problem": There is the value-conditioned different conditioning, which is ALWAYS present and on which you have to "screw around" nothing at all. If you internalize and understand this fact, THEN it also works out with the communication. A special feature that is common to people with Down syndrome, for example, is their ability and perception of the "actual essence of the other person". This perception is not given to most normal people. They can not address the other person unfiltered in his actual essence and also never understand. And this is exactly the solution for this "Red Flag N° 1" - problem. People are amazed when they are suddenly addressed in their essence and being. Try to think about it. The results will blow your mind.
