Thanks for the tips, as always CA! I did want to comment on something you have on the screen @11:34. You are 100% the professional and have caught more fish than I could ever dream of catching, but recently I did start doing some fishing against the tide whenever fishing with the tide was just too difficult. More specifically throwing topwater. I noticed that with topwater lures it didn't seem to make a difference. The reason I switched up was bcs working my lure with the tide was just too difficult. Walking the dog with the current on a ripping tide with the wind blowing in the same direction was making it damn near impossible. So, switching it to walking against the current as well as sideways made it easier to walk the dog and have my lure spend more time on the water. Just thought i'd throw my $.02 in on that since I always do my best to work my lure with the current, as it is more natural, but in this scenario the opposite worked out for me. I still work it with the tide with sub surface and below lures, as it's easier to do that even with a ripping current.

Yes for topwater I could agree. With the subsurface lures going against tide grain just picks up more grass and lifts lure to surface. Thank you for supporting and good intel

Same thing just happened to me. I decided to bring my winter setup 2500 bg ML with 25# flouro. I was throwing into a school of black drum in yankeetown and a monster snook crushed it. No bite tippet, all my other rods had it or 40# direct. Tried to lighten up in case it was a tough bite.

Great video as always CA! Why use a bite tippit over just going to a 40lb leader? Wouldn’t it be the same? Also what knot for mono to mono or floro to floro? Thanks for all the amazing tips! One day maybe I’ll be able to afford to go out on a charter with you. Keep up the great work!!!😁
@FloridaMan_Fishing_YT
@FloridaMan_Fishing_YT 2 месяца назад
A bite tippet is typically useful when the water is clear and 40lb leader might be too visible in the water. If you were to use about a 2-3 foot section of 20lb mono with a 6” 40lb tippet, it’ll reduce visibility in the water but still keep that abrasion resistance towards the hook. The only time I would recommend using a full 40lb leader is if you’re fishing around heavy structure such as bridges, docks, or rock jetties. And for mono-mono or fluoro-fluoro knots, nothing beats a simple blood knot. Hopefully that helps! I’m hoping to post a full video about the topic soon.

Hi captain Richardson, curious on what knots do you prefer using to unite the leader to the heavier foot length of 40lb leader? Sorry if I missed any previous video if you already imparted that knowledge to us. Thanks for your videos and all the schooling you give us on them!

40lb leader? Last time I was down I lost some big snook and maybe a big red with 30lb. I’ll step up next time? Looks like you’re enjoying the PP Move. Have you thought of getting a foot pedal or maybe an anchor button. I find it very handy to hit the spot luck button with my foot when I get a fish on.
@flatsclasscharters
@flatsclasscharters 2 месяца назад
The Move actually gives you two remotes so its possible for second angler to take the Move and Anchors over
@brucerudd69

@@flatsclasschartersI’d still have to have a foot pedal. Grow to used to it from bass fishing and I am often solo.

So why just a bite tippet and not a full leader of 40lb. And what knot did you tie it on with?

Have you been hearing anything about the decline of large snook out on the beaches/passes this year? Seems like the worst its been over the last 7 years or so.

It would help if people stop fishing for them in the summer. Because they probably don't do very well in the hot water after being released. Especially if they're big
