Really good video. Can you share what do you look for when making these breakdowns. Think it would help people watching their own tape to be able to see it the way you do.

Have you completed the book youve been writing? I just started wrestling 174 in college and i wanna maximise my learning curve. Figured it could help

The editing/publishing process has been much more of a pain than I initially anticipated. The book is completely written, but I’m currently figuring out the formatting, trying to create graphics, etc. Maximizing your potential since you just started college is going to depend on a couple things. First, your current experience level. There’s a difference between a first year college wrestler who wrestled two years in high school and a first year college wrestler who has been on the mat since he was in diapers. You need to: 1. Assess where you are at currently: You can do this through video of yourself, analyzing how you do against opponents of various skill levels, etc. Figure out your strengths and weaknesses 2. Tailor a Plan to maximize the effectiveness of your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses. For example, if you’re fairly new to wrestling, you will want to spend time OUTSIDE OF PRACTICE drilling fundamental techniques (downblocking, hand fighting/clearing ties, etc). If you are more experienced, you will need to start thinking more deeply about why certain techniques aren’t working at a higher level of wrestling. It could be a problem with the setup, your ability to recognize and bypass the opponent’s defense to finish, etc. The second thing is how much time you have available. Volume wins in skill development. The more time you can spend outside of practice drilling, studying technique, etc, the faster you will improve. This may mean going light for a majority of the time: resistance free drilling, drilling with resistance, then some positional sparring. Figure out how to maximize your time outside of practice without sacrificing schoolwork, etc. A bit of a long winded response, but hopefully that will set you on the right track!

@@martialbreakdowns @martialbreakdowns that's great and exactly what I needed. I've only done wrestling in BJJ and MMA and it's a totally different beast with folkstyle. I did spend most of my time just drilling and wrestling the higher level wrestlers in my club and most times what they did teach did not always stick with me especially during live and matches, but I take notes of it all in my phone. I'm just trying to learn as much in a time crunch so that I can do more than just think during matches. This could be a good guideline to get started with. I look forward to your book getting published
