Today marked 50 years since the first service in preservation at the Avon Valley Railway at Bitton, and to celebrate they were running some special services over an extended weekend period.
1919 Cranford was on a special set made up of a mark 1 and brake van, replicating the first train, running between Bitton and Oldland Common.
This was supplimented by 3839 Wimblebury, wearing Glendower nameplates as a nod to one of the original resident locomotives, on the main set, including a dining portion with 1970s inspired menus.
Finally we had a little appearance from resident Polish locomotive Karol, on station pilot duties, as well as back up for the other 2 locomotives. Couldn't have a diesel coming out to rescue a train in front of the press.
A calm yet well filled event, very enjoyable to see an intense sevice, even had the sun come out to play a little!
