I don't think the third one (the one that died at the end) was a teenager. The first two were definitely young bloods though.

Tetriz Demon scar was the youngest (last one to die) and Celtic was the oldest (first one to die). Maybe scar was younger than a teen, perhaps preteen. But they were all teens.

One thing that seems to go over defenders heads, though, is that this Xeno was a drone. The most basic class of Xenomorph. Can you imagine what a warrior would have done, let alone a Praetorian?

I have gone my entire life saying this was my favorite out of the franchise. That will never change i love this movie

I hate to be that guy, but the critics were right. Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986) are masterpieces in their genre, and Predator (1987) is a classic action movie. So, AVP came in with high expectations and did not live up to them. AVP is missing the suspense of the films which preceded it, and the main reason for that is the human characters are cannon fodder and instantly forgettable. We are not invested in their survival, which begs the question why even have human characters in the first place. AVP does have some good moments: seeing a xenomorph finally locking horns with a predator, Scar being the most likeable predator, and the end action sequence.

It's great. Critics hate greatness

Same vein as the Star Wars sequels. Legitimately great movies that stay true to the lore and series. People just confuse what they'd like to see with what is actually good.

Thank you for pointing this out. The Predators that were sent to Earth in Predator 1 and 2 performed their tasks alone. In Predator 2 we see the Predator with adding a human skull to his trophy wall of skulls, which proves how accomplished he is before his visit to Los Angeles. You can indeed see the surprise of this Predator has his primary claws on his arm which are usually enough to slay most biological foe, are melted to slag. His netting which his pack brother used to kill one of the humans just before this fight was dissolved by the acid of the Xenomorph. For additional examples of how Young Blood Predators would fair in such a scenario, check out the Aliens Versus Predator 3 game. It highlights the fates of the 5 Young Bloods sent to Freya's Prospect for blooding purposes. Mind you that it could also be considered part of the test for the Young Bloods to see how they would fair against humans and Aliens/Xenomorphs already in the Pyramid/Ziggurat. Although most Predators could easily kill xenomorphs with their plasma casters as is witnessed by Predator Wolf in AVP: Requiem, the true test is being whether you have the skill to defeat your foes without advanced technology. A reminder for everyone that although the Predator's easily have better technology than Humans, and could probably obliterate Humanity from orbit if they felt like it. They test themselves to avoid becoming lazy and weak, to make those that survive such challenges skilled and wise enough to deal with the next set of threats and hazards. And most of what I just said is said without taking the Xenomorph factor into account. As far as the capability of Aliens goes, they are a perfect test for Predators as Xenomorphs can adapt to almost any environment. For crying out Loud they can survive in Space for a brief time. (See Alien move 1 ending for details and Aliens Colonial Marines: Stasis Interrupted) From a Facehugger that can implant a chestburster into a host, to drones and warrior castes that can slay or capture most humans, to Praetorians that are smaller than a queen but much more deadly. Each level of the Alien hive caste has the potential to slay or infest Most organic life forms, and that is not even mentioning the Queen! Side note: it is interesting to note that the number of the humans in the sacrificial chamber is less than ten which is far more manageable than doing the test in an active human civilization. Aw, I think it's a bit unfair to say they're nothing but animals. They're nowhere near as advanced as Yautja, but they still have intelligence and a basic society. They're not completely feral, especially the Queens. I've always liked Xenomorphs a lot more, but I agree that the more experienced Predators would wreck them. Well, maybe not if they were severely outnumbered, like in the backstory clip where the Predators have to nuke the temple to prevent losing- which would mean Earth get invaded. But yeah, they would normally wreck the Aliens.

I felt like they gave Grid a little bit of personality in this movie. Later in the scene when the predator uses his plasmacaster for the first time the queen orders them to fall back but Grid looks like he only does so reluctantly.

That's called bad directing, The Predators were not given a fair chance on screen.

Take away their armor and weapons...the average Xenomorph slaughters the average Yautja in a mano-a-mano combat...Xenomorph has all the physical advantages. It just has more organic weapons, acid blood, powerful striking inner teeth, claws, tail, etc. Plus it has the ability to turn its body 180 degrees like a wolverine. The naked Yautja has fighting skills, superior intelligence, and is very strong, but has no other killing physical weapons. Even his expansive mouth is rather non-effective. I don’t ever recall seeing a Yautja actually biting anyone, it just mock poses its mouth like a peacock spreading its colorful feathers, lol. Yautjas are also much slower than Xenomorphs. Again, I’m talking mano-a-mano combat, no armor nor technology. Obviously, if you arm a Yautja with let’s say a samurai sword, then it easily kills a Xenomorph, but watch out for the splattered blood, lol. However, as you probably know, there are different types from both sides. On the Xenomorph side, the Big Chap, Warrior, Dog Alien, Newborn, and of course, the Queen. There’s also a King Alien who was even larger than the Queen, but she eventually killed him. On the Yautja side, Young Bloods, Warrior, Wolf, Elders, Four-Armed Predator, and of course, Ultimate Predator. It would be interesting to match all these up in an MMA cage, lol. In order for you and I to be happy, let’s compromise. The Predalien is best of both worlds. P.S. The Xenomorph design cannot be topped, all thanks to the master, H.R. Giger.

And for for the Predators, you say that they are slow when in the other films it shows to be fast and stronger than a mir human and zeno. Did you forget the Wolf Predator from AVPR, that predator killed more zenos than any human in the previous films did, plus it shows great strength compared to your average zeno. Saddly that ending movie was just directed baddly, ending the film with a drawl. Plus you say take away the Predators high tech weapons. What it supposed to use harsh language, such stupid talk. Other than the movie it's self it's just directed bad. The Predators need more time on screen to fully appreciate the fight from both sides

Me 2, because after i've watched Alien Covenant (2017) and The Predator (2018), it feels like a franchise comeback to me. Because i was expecting a new predator movie after watching alien covenant.

I liked Alien Covenant despite its flaws. However The Predator was so bad it makes the AVP films look like masterpieces. The scene at the end with “Predator Killer” Iron Man suit was so stupid and childish it looked like a 10 year old wrote it.

Master Chief I think they did it on purpose since by that time Disney was completing its deal with fox to own the movie so the predator killer was like a homage or callback to Disney since they are the new owners of Predator thats how I took it 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

TheSmashingTesticles They have been together for almost 30 years. This is one of the most popular and successful crossovers ever. The comics, books, and games were fantastic. The movies were nothing like then either, there’s potential to make a great AVP film, it just hasn’t happened yet.

Just make a movie based on the AVP video games and I'll be satisfied.

That's why they're young bloods. They're inexperienced and underestimate their opponents.

Chopper was skilled with dual-wielding weapons but was not aware that an Alien was in the area. Celtic prides on his overwhelming strength but got cocky, which got him killed. Scar is effectively the strategist of the group. He outsmarts his opponents that he knows he can't fight head-on.

If they were young bloods it was probably their first xenomorph hunt. I figure lots of other young predators lose their lives the same way

Indeed it was their first hunt and many predators do lose their life as a young blood, that's why when they do make it to blooded they become killers like pred 1 and 2 and if they last even longer and become elite then they become like Wolf in AvP Requim, he killed xenomorphs with relative ease , so it appeared that way but honestly it was his crazy skills and the weapons he gained by getting better over time. he killed 5 or more xenomorphs in that movie like a xenomorph assassin, just before the predalien fight he used his specialized whip to slice and dice a xenomorph coming off a small roof. It sucks for the individual predators when they die early but when they do get real good and skillful hunters then their society benefits and we get badass Yautja like Wolf . There's many others too but they are in comics. Wolf, Greyback, and Ancient were also played in movies at some capacity.

Nah. This scene demonstrated how stupid that Predator was. As a supreme hunting enthusiast, it should know the strengths & weaknesses of the Xenomorphs by heart. Instead, it's not properly equipped, it wastes time & effort on ineffective attacks, and it doesn't properly follow up on its foes setbacks.

Steve Rogers It’s because it’s a unblooded/Youngblood and this was its first hunt. This movie seemed to be more alien biased while requiem was more predator biased.

Steve Rogers Yeah the predator I think was young blooded or unblooded so he wasn't as good of a fighter than if it was a better ranked predator, I'm pretty sure he would have destroyed the alien if he was a higher rank, alien was skilled but a high rank predator would mess him up

Busta Twig exactly, this was essentially a teen predator and this was its first hunt. Higher ranked predators like elders especially the predators like prince can take on entire hives and kill queens like if it was a morning warm ups
