Yeah some of these yautja like scar are cute looking aliens besides scary. It’s probably cause is a Youngblood and youngbloods are like kids in yautja ranks and ages cause of their culture.
If Scar had survived and had the Predalien safely removed, his surviving a hunt that went out of control like this would have seen him gain serious respect in his clan.
Unfortunately he wouldn’t survive because the alien was still inside him creating a predator and alien hybrid so unfortunately due to the alien Hybrid he still wouldn’t survive
@@BlueTheicequeen No there was a chance he could have lived if the queen hadn't impaled him and he was able to get to the ship in time where the other Predators would surgically remove the Predalien Chestburster. Whether Scar knew he has a Chestburster in him if the queen didn't kill him (as Chestburster hosts tend to suffer memory loss after being impregnated by a Facehugger) is what would have lied in whether he died or not. Then again the Predators who took him away stupidly didn't check to see if he has a Chestburster in him.
I always wondered if Scar would’ve ranked up in Yautja society because Predaliens are referred to as “Abominations” according to the 2010 AVP video game. Because if he got ”facehuggered” wouldn’t that have meant he shamed himself and the clan?

The fact that Scar is a Youngblood (teenager) and inexperienced yet he got that far with fighting the Queen is impressive and why he is my 2nd fav Yautja
I can definitely see that. Maybe Donnie would do it with his bo-staff when he has the blade out. Like in a situation where the queen would be some mutant monster, the lady would be a disarmed and/or wounded ally, and the predator would be Donnie.
I love how ethical the Yautja are. They won't harm weak people, only want to kill dangerous beings that seem to be a challenge for them, plus they respect their adversaries when they manage to overcome them
"They only want to kill dangerous beings" So why that one Predator from 1987 movie was killing off Dutch's soldiers? I still wonder if this was some kind of trial for him or what?
@@Zireael_1251 Didn't they butchered an rebel village before ? He eintier was angry about that or saw them as a strong enought to fight after seeing how easy they did it.
I like the expression Scar made when the queen made it appearance. "Oh SHIT!" You can see it how little he was expecting to even fight the Alien Queen, espically in his ranks. Though once he started taking steps back he quickly went into survival mode and proceed to use every weapon and knowledge he got. Such as firing his wrist blades and repeated throwing his shurkien blade.
Scar was such badass because of this exact moment. He's a teenager and not once would he ever think he'd get to fight a Alien Queen, but he still pulled through.
Love the split-second thinking he put into those moves. He launched his wrist blades because fighting the Queen up close is not an option, got off a solid shuriken throw that cut up her neck, and even a second throw that didn't do much damage, but made it back to his hand before he got *WHOMPED* by that tail. There is no weapon in Scar's arsenal that can put down the Queen in one blow. He's gotta go for quantity!
@@njprince9717right not having a caster against a queen is like not having a rifle against a tiger almost an impossible feat for anyone less than highly skilled or insane
@@njprince9717 Considering how durable the Queen is, the Plasma Caster's effectiveness on her is questionable. She isn't immune to it, but I doubt she'd keel over from just one shot.
its also nice to see the predator wanting to team up with a human since he knows he has more chance of winning against the queen than alone, they're really smart and humble in the end
That's to build up enough momentum to pierce the tough skin of the xenomorph. Also their spears are extremely light weight and strong so it's easy to maneuver.
Its part of their culture. Alexa partook of The Hunt and conquered high rank Prey and Blooded/Marked herself in Yautja tradition. If you go by movie lore- the Yautja had ties with humans until the relationship deteriorated when they blew up the fictional human civilization after the Xeno farm got out of control. Now they don't care. Still, their culture dictates they present a Gift to a worthy Hunter. Even if the Humans are now considered Prey. Yautjas are honorable, they don't abuse the weak, children or pregnant lifeforms. They only hunt those that can possibly kill them. Therefore, they generally ignore Humans, save for the most capable or dangerous of the human species. The thrill of the hunt comes from the challenge. So, if a Human outhunts a Yautja resulting in the Yautja dying; the comrades gift that human with a token, a trophy. Yautja don't leave evidence of their existence or activity save only the token presented to a worthy human hunter. It's part of the respect, they could very well kill to silence any witnesses.
It's crazy that the CGI in this 2004 movie is miles ahead of the CGI we got in The Predator 2018. It blends so well here, and I think it's because they inter-cut shots of the giant animatronic Alien Queen they had with brief CGI shots where they wanted us to see her whole body move and walk. This is exactly the same method used in the original Jurassic Park and that movie still holds up phenomenally well compared to modern films. Wish that studios would use real things in movies again, like sets, locations, props, puppets, animatronics, and even actors. Today's actors are just so *boring.*
Well, they did use an animatronic in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom for the Indoraptor. But you're right. I miss the days when there was mainly practical effects.
I love that she's not screaming. Lex is really underrated as a character in this cinematic universe because people hated the film's rating. If it had been allowed to be R, I believed it would have been far better regarded (and would have had even better scenes).
That's the thing, though, since they focused more on Pred kills and Xeno kills, they didn't need an R-Rating. Censors don't care about alien gore because it's literally glowing green goop.
Keep in mind that without his mask, he has almost no way to see the Queen. Especially given how fast she is. Rather then treating her as dead weight, Scar used Lex's human abilities to his advantage. She can see the Queen, and she looked for a different solution since she certainly can't fight her.
@@WestbrickFansGotNoBrains they showed that in the opening scene of the movie. Preds have infrared that they can see humans in, but not Xenos. They also have a different vision that makes Xenos easy to spot but renders humans almost invisible.
@@VivaLaDnDLogs If that's the case, then why did Wolf remove his bio helmet in the final fight against the Predalien in the second film? He'd have been rendering himself blind in a clinical showdown for no reason.
@@patrickdekretser3112 honestly I think the writers didn't think it through and wanted Wolf to show a Predalien respect because it would look cooler, no matter how moronic it was. My opinion on AVPR is that it was lit by the writers and written by the lighting crew because someone thought the jobs were interchangeable since they sound alike.
One thing that didn't occur to me until recently was that, this entire fight, Scar probably couldn't even see the Queen. Without his mask, they seem to use a slightly weaker version of their thermal vision, which doesn't work on Xenos. Add in how fast she is and he's pretty much fighting by sound alone. Thank the gods he has Lex who can see the Queen as well as show up in Scar's vision so he can follow her. And once he realizes what Lex is doing, he focuses on her idea because he's fighting a losing battle at a terrible disadvantage. Scar made his clan proud and went down like a true warrior.
That would be impossible. Otherwise there’s no way that Scar could spear the Queen near perfectly in the head if he couldn’t even see it. He could obviously see it, just perhaps not well. Plus the AVP movies generally avoid addressing how the Predators see without their masks on.
@@windowsVD he can see Lex. The Queen is basically cloaked, but he can hear her, and probably just make out an outline. The one advantage he had was that the Queen has a very large head. I believe we got a glimpse of Predator vision in the first Predator movie when he took off his mask to square off with Arnie. Can't say for certain, but it seemed similar to mask vision.
@@VivaLaDnDLogs Wouldn’t say it’s quite the same as being cloaked. Not having a thermal output gives some degree of camouflage but it doesn’t make them literally see-through like the Predator’s cloak. Again, not possible. Being able to hear such a massive creature that you can’t see isn’t going to allow you to magically gain enough accuracy to impale it near perfectly through the head, especially when the Queen wasn’t roaring at that moment. Scar had to have been able to see it visibly enough. Again, the AVP films generally avoid addressing how the Predators see without their masks and generally have elements that contradict the original films. For example, the original films establish that Predators only hunt during extremely warm temperatures. The last Predator film even establishes that Predators hunt on Earth more frequently due to climate change and use our DNA to better adapt to Earth’s climate. Yet AVP has Predators hunting in Antarctica without freezing to death, the coldest place on the planet, completely negating their suggested biological need for warm temperatures from the original films. It’s honestly better to think of the AVP films as a separate canon if you want consistency.
@@windowsVDI mostly mean cloaked as in they blend in with the rest of the settlement. It's easier to see when the target is in motion. Like in the original Predator, he was hard to see when he stood still, but much easier to spot on the move. Also, they originally came when it was warm. And honestly, performing their rite of passage in freezing temperatures only makes it more badass. These three played on Hard mode, but Scar switched to Legendary for the final fight.
@@windowsVD "It’s honestly better to think of the AVP films as a separate canon if you want consistency" Sadly. FOX didn't see it that way and gave us a shitty sequel to an otherwise mediocre movie.
The CGI from this 2004 movie holds up really damn well, honestly. Also this gotta be one of the best "giant monster fight" climaxes I've seen like, it actually gives good weight to the Queen and the way they go about fighting her, from being knocked around much of the time to taking potshots when and where they can. Not to dish on Aliens but I fully believe that this fight is better than the Queen fight from that movie, if only because using CGI in addition to animatronics can make a large monster move with much more agility and fluidity than JUST using animatronics. I firmly believe that a mix between practical effects and CGI is the best way to go about these things, unlike modern movies that make literally everything CGI.
Commercial CGI just isn’t ready yet. It has a ton of uses but using it on it’s own for the wrong things usually doesn’t work at the moment. While one can already create a ton of realistic illusions ( for a lack of a better word ) that hold up, I fully agree with your overall sentiment. Using both real and fake methods is the way to go.
@@nicehomelander yes, I know. I said that. But a lot of it is also CGI, and that holds well as well since it's used when practical effects wouldn't be possible or would look awkward (like the Queen falling on the burning house or running through the whale skeleton).
The effects may be better here but the context is nowhere near as good as the Aliens fight. That film was building up to that moment from the very start and lines up perfectly with Ripley’s motivations. There’s no music too which adds to the tension. AVP has none of that intrigue or suspense - it’s just a disposable action film.
Although many of the fans may not have liked this film, for us it is still quite memorable because it was there that the two sagas of Alien and Predator collided for the first time in an epic way on the big screen.
The scar symbol he gave her was not at all symbolic in nature. It was intentionally done because he knew his clanmates were waiting outside. And if she were to survive this and he wasn't, he knew he had to give a symbol to his clanmates that she had earned the right to be honored.
I think the pred that got killed was the one who reached adulthood recently and was to go on hunt to kill a hive to be included in the clan. That's their ritual. The pred that looked old and stood in front of the woman was an eldar. He probably has a dozen xenomorph queen kills to his name. He will probably be atleast 700 years old.
@@control4050 I'm pretty sure all Yautja joined clans early on, yeah they go on hunts but hunting Queen xenomorphs wasn't done by the Un-Blooded or the Young Bloods, the Yautja you're referring to. It was more often than not done by Elites and Leaders, the Leaders more often taking Young Bloods and Un-Blooded's into lightly populated areas to hunt Xenomorphs. In fact the Leaders are specialized class of Elite classed Yautja who teach the two classes I just mentioned. Once they become Blooded Yautja, then they take on increasingly more Xenos, but even to become a Blooded Yautja you'd have to kill at least one Xeno. Giving further credence that these Yautja are not Young Bloods. I think I heard someone mention to become a respected Elder of the clan, you had to kill a Queen Xenomorph, and wipe out her hive in a one on one battle. Elites are the only Yautja who can take on seven or more Xenomorphs, so the Predators we are seeing in this movie are probably seasoned Elites sent to exterminate the Alien hive. The older Yautja we saw at the end could be an Ancient Yautja and not an Elder altogether. Either way, Xenomorphs are badass.
Looking back and fourth you might end up thinking oh Prometheus makes sense. It happened to me, I actually didn't understand what the movie, thin I like ohhhh stupid me. Peace
@@airmix08 erm yes I would say better than Prometheus. Because the whole Xenomorph origin is so ridiculous, any movie following that storyline has to have stupidity built in to it like carefully selected top scientists sticking their hand into an alien organism like drunk hooligans after a football match. At least in this movie, the humans are not that stupid but were simply lured into a trap. The stupidest thing in this movie is other predators at the end, leave the dead one alone, knowing full well he was killed by Xeno queen. And yes they needed it for the sequel which had even stupider beginning where a ship full of predators was ravaged by a newly hatched Xeno baby.
Mainly because it was given a PG-13 rating so a lot of violence was toned down (especially with the human deaths) even though both franchises were rated R and the graphic violence is a staple part of the movies so toning it down pissed a lot of people off. Most of these issues came from the original theatrical release as they did release an "Unrated Edition" on DVD which added more blood and extra scenes.
Cause fans of any frachise are the fucking worst. Like. They can either go and make their own movie or shut the fuck yo and enjoy what someone put time and effort into. I always loved how Lex got marked by Scar in this film because it’s actually a reference to the Alien vs. Predator comics, when the Yautja Broken Tusk gave a mark to the character Machiko just before he died.
for me, this is the best practical effect, the perfect CGI (not too much but still look realistic), the best expression and gesture for predator face and the queen
Fun fact that first predator standing there, he’s an elder who leads that ship and the clan. In order to get to that point he had to kill at least 3 queens with max 2 other predators and clean out 3 hives containing at least 300 xenos each by himself. That guy is the real deal lol
