Avpr to me is underrated. Yes it was dark in most places but not like people exaggerate it to be, and there was a lot of rain. In the trailers you could see everything with better lighting too. I like this film better than Avp. But I still love both.
Agree completely. The Predalien is basically a "fuck you" to what has already been established about Xenomorph biology. Sure Alien 3 had the dog Xenomorph thing, but it didn't really take on any canine traits IIRC. It just adopted a more quadrupedal stance than the ones in the first two films.
I actually prefer this movie to the 1st one, I think the whole idea of it being in a small town was unique as no other movie to that point (Because Predator 2 was a big town). Also I could really get behind the wolf predator as a good guy since he wasn’t just being a dick the whole time and he is actually pretty fun to watch. Another thing is that the Predalien may not be entirely true to Xenomorph biology but she still looks badass, I mean just a normal alien with mandibles would look dumb after the huge set up from the 1st film. This movie also did things we hadn’t seen yet, whereas the 1st one feels more like just the scripts to and alien and predator movie combined, this feels movie combined the ideas better and also added to the universe in a way, which movies shouldn’t be scared to be their own movie. Another thing is that I feel like there was a lot less “Holy crap I want this part to end its so boring” moments in this one, was the lighting bad? Yes it was very hard to make out 80% of the movie but the parts you could make out were much more intense, it is a horror movie after all, either way if you came to this movie for good plot or something like that you came to the wrong place, if you came to this movie to watch a Predator fight off waves of Xenomorphs and the most powerful variant of Xenomorph you’ve seen in a movie (besides the Queen of course) you definitely come for the right reason and quite frankly the reason they intended. Even if it was hard to see all the time, just turn up the brightness like I did. I’m not saying I’m a better person because I liked this movie, or smarter for that matter, I’m merely pointing out some things people missed and why I frankly disagree with several people, I respect all of your opinions and I hope you can respect me back.
one thing i did really like is that it had the eye sockets that the original Alien had, that is a nice return to originality, it was a creepy concept of not knowing whether these eye sockets actually had any use, could the alien see? or does it hunt on scent? the fact they look like empty sockets was disturbing also. this is why i love this creature so much.
if you have ever read the AVP books you would know that the predators dreadlocks arent actually hair they are actually a part of their body used for a way of detection and sensing things and objects around them, so seeing the predalien also having dreads wouldnt have surprised me
This is so cool i love it! Stan Winston and his team have made some of the best monsters in movie history! i can't believe so many people hate this. how can you help but to love it? for the haters it wasn't CGI so at least be happy with that.
- wonder if AVP 2 would have been made, so Im glad for that. I do hope they make a 3rd and it being in space, or something VERY VERY close to it. I want to see more of their ship and world, too.
I was thinking... Would these guys have jobs if the master Giger hadn't come up with the amazing concept of Alien in the 70s ? I mean, they owe him this much...
how could people not like the predalien it's so cool. and for some others that are confused about the gender of it, i just call it "it" cause i'm as confused as the rest of ya
I didnt like the AVPR movie, but I DO like the Predalien. It is badass and they did a great job with its' design. AVPR would have been good if they had done more with the storyline....it was just all blood and gore to me.
@OpVanquisher and that's the exact kind of thinking which takes the essence of true imagination out of movies these days - unless you do CGI well, like avatar, I'd much rather see what we can physically do, in terms of using our imagination to create the illusion of the scene - this is why the original Alien and Predator were so good, the storylines were original, and every prop was a work of art.
The Scariest And Badass Enemy in All of Both Predator & Alien, is to See The Predalien Hybrid With Wings, Predator Technology And Also Has a Predator Mask, With Two Shoulder Cannons And With Two Wrist Blades as Well.
@OpVanquisher I agree with you on that one, they have got it wrong in that sense, they wern't very clever in this movie to be honest, it looks like two men in suits fighting. They should have spent more time on that, and maybe created some kind of suit which made the person operating it taller, or used a smaller head. But you have to admit, the animatronics made on the head are pretty awesome, and it's that kind of thing I love about old style film making (without CGI)
We have some similar interests. Ive always wanted to be involved with special fx makeup, creature design and whatnot also...so i hear ya there. And I agree...AVPR blew, but it was quite interesting seeing an Alien/Predator hybrid on screen for the first time. Btw if you havent seen Prometheus, don't expect exact references to Alien,Aliens,ect... it's indefinably the same universe,though.. which is allI could ask for.
The reason im watching it is because im defending the real alien movies and standing up for the ones that meant so much to Sci-fi fans...that why I looked at this to see just what the heck were they thinking when they made the predaalien.
ok i watched alien and aliens when i was 10 and even then i knew the plot was amazing the twists and turns were terrifying. James cameron who is doing avatar (not the cartoon) will be the biggest film ever said that he wanted to do another alien film just to stick it to the avp franchise and do it so good that it will undenyibly be one of the years best films...avp and avpr destroyed the series but i believe jim and scott could do a pre alien explaining the spacecraft in alien...
the praetorian skin is on the alien side, but there is a predator skin that suppossed to be in the game called alien, probably cause he has xenomorph armor on or sumthing like that. Theres no way a praetorian of any kind, even a crossbreed, would side with its host species.
i just hope they can redeem it with the 3rd movie, but it may be like a white dwarf that flew to close to a black hole in that it is physically impossible to recover.
Also, the mandibles need to be more effectively blended into the snout. One of the problems that I have with the predalien is that its mandibles are too large and stick out too far to the sides of the jaw/cheekbones, making it look like the creature has a giant box fused into its face.
The Aliens vs PRedator strategy game for the PS2 and Xbox was amazing. It gave real insight into the rankings and cultures of the Aliens and the Predators. The Predator game gave an even better insight and now the Aliens vs Predator game for the Xbox 360 is going to perfect both views while we watch the Marines get totally raped.
I think they should make this movie unofficial, and remake it, but 3 things for next time: make the predalien look better, and not like a few pieces of alien and predator thrown together. different director, and actors. and make it more realistic
Trust me after seeing the first AVP, I will never see another one... but Prometheus on the other hand looks awesome! I'm just here becasue I'm wanting to pursue a field in prop making/special effects makeup, and usually no matter how bad a movie like this is, it still takes the artists thousands of hours to create the props and scenes, and they should at least get some credit for that.
Both the Predator and the Predalien seem to have giant heads on this movie. I doubt that the problem would had been solved with competent direction, because the suits are totally out of proportion from the begining. None of the costumes of the previous films was like that.
Yeah. I'll be honest and say my face was like "WTF?!" when the predalien pops out of the predator ! Cause earlier in the movie when they show that sneaky face huger jumping at him, the screen changes back to Lex. So when the screen does go back to the predator showing him putting his mask thingy on, Im thinking that he killed it in the nick of time and "oh those bastards playing tricks!" Lol. But at the end, it's confirmed he was attacked and predalien was formed. Without the predalien I -
Agreed. :D I personally liked the FIRST one better. Not saying I didn't like this one, but I the actors KINDA sucked a bit, but I still don't think it was all that horrible like a lot of people say. And Im still hoping for a third AVP ^.^ !
@jacksonfromhell that doesn't mean don't pay attention to the visuals, it means make the story on par with the visuals. you don't get film making, do you?
@bloodyellgavner But the predalien in the games and the comics did have dreadlocks as well, what's wron with these? Not to mention, this isn't exactly a queen, but it's pretorian, a big dominant female.
WHat. that bigish fight scene at the end of AvP3 was really predator v.s. predalien? I thought it was preadator v.s. normal alien. damn I was wrong on that one
Well if they take what worked in Avp1 and Avp:R(it sucked but it had it's moments) and write a good script closely based on the AVP comics then they might be able to pull it off.
no they have most of the original alien's which they pass on to facehugger's if they become queens and then if those fachuggers attach to a target it will not be the same as the queen that laid them unless it is the same host
@DARmanbuttermilk1136 it's called the Newborn, its DNA is mixed with human DNA because it was born out of a queen recreated from Ripley's DNA. And why wouldn't I respond nicely?
Looks so good...as some others have mentioned shame could see it in the movie, in any detail!! Crap lighting, crap movie overall directors and Fox need to hang their heads in shame. Again great work ADI though 👍👍
I have to admit it, i loved the first one but the only thing i liked about the second one was the predalien having it's tiny mouth ripped of by the predator, the rest is epic fail
Soooo... if an alien egg is layed inside of a predator, it becomes a hybrid of both alien and predator. Wouldn't that mean that all the aliens we see in the movies must be hybrids of humans and aliens? So then, what did the original aliens look like before the human alien hybrids? And how do we know that the aliens before the human alien hybrids weren't hybrids of some other alien race?!!
@bloodyellgavner @collhiodudeoo9o the aliens forehead or whatever is a transparent dome, the aliens skull is suppose to be similar to that of a human skull, so the eyes are inside the transfapent dome.
@GeneralVariety I agree. It kind of reminded me of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Men in suits fighting, twirling around using whips with poorly improvised combat. It was just so unconvincing. The half squat with arms open battle pose. The phony looking recoil from expected and actual blows from both combatants It was just aweful. I would have liked the predalien to appear more insectoidal, dinosaurian and skeletal and not like the humanoid it was portrayed as.
@brandhini02 i kinda figured that you must have played the game, its just a game dude, they made it that way so it could look cooler, the aliens eyes are inside the transparent dome, type alien documentary-the making of alien on the youtube search bar. you'll see
It's a shame on how much work and ideas they put in to make this creature. Because the design was awesome. But I couldn't even see the details because the movie was utter darkness.
