It feels like an imprint of a memory

Out of curiousity I searched for the beach in the location you put in the description. I found O-Carroll's Cove and Bar next to the beach, entered street view, and saw the very image in this photograph. It was a little remarkable to see how much it changed, and how much it stayed the same.

We've all been that child in the picture in the snow. Very poignant.

no way are these two things in my life coming together in this way. I went to derrynane/caherdaniel nearly every summer of my childhood until I was 10. I know the pub you're talking about, and I know this sight so well. just so surreal seeing it all covered in snow, making it almost unrecognisable. I probably wouldn't have been able to tell where it was without you saying. my love for aphex twin came 7 years after I was last here, it's been 6 since I got into him, and here I am hearing this otherworldly alternate version of Avril 14th, paired with IMMENSE feelings of nostalgia and "where is my time going", I've been profoundly moved by this.

Today was All Saints day at my church, a day where they appreciate and celebrate all the deceased. My nana was on the list of those who passed and I’m sort of guilty that me and my family didn’t go to the service. But I come here to this video to just thank my nana for taking care of me and my brother up until she passed. She was a great woman, maybe a bit controlling some times but she always had good intentions in her heart. I remember the times when me and my brother were younger and we would stay the night at her house, watch some movies, eat her homemade meals, and go to church the next morning. I just want to say that I miss you nana. I know it’s only been like a little bit over a half of a year you’ve been gone, but when me and dad went through your old photos you had in your basement, it was absolutely mesmerizing seeing these beautiful old Polaroid photos from decades back. That’s really what this song sounds like to me, are those old Polaroid photos of forests and old neighborhoods. I actually kept all the ones I liked and are super melancholic to look at. You know when I got the news that you passed I didn’t really cry because I knew that it was gonna happen, but the funeral service here at our church and the one in Iowa had me absolutely bawling. I also wanted to say that I am sorry I didn’t spend time with you more before you died. The only times I saw you were when you picked me up from school and the rare times I actually went to church. I just wish I connected and talked to you more. Welp, I guess I’m doing that now. Love you Nana ❤️

This track makes me nostalgic for things that have never even happened to me.

Caherdaniel is a beautiful place to visit. You don't get much more rugged and rural and raw when it comes to West Ireland. The music fits the picture well. I'm so relaxed.

I remember listening to it before my most important event in my childhood.

The dew on my window, the chickens of the jungle, the birds gliding through the trees, the wet ocean smell always near, the deep jungles clouds of darkness, the limestone cliffs, and me, sitting in my little camp, made with nothing but the land around me and some rope, and my fire, not to keep me warm but just to feel it’s spirit, my crossbow, my traps, my creations, all carved from the land around me. I promise one day my body will be the fuel for the nature that I have grounded my life in. But alas, I’m leaving this place soon. There will be the last island moon, The last trap set, the last arrow show, the last night spent under the stars, under the canopy, under the limestone cliffs. The last fish I cook, the last hill I climb, the last swamp I venture, the last of me.

I graduated high school 4 years ago now. After grad school finishes up, then I'll be out in the real world. Wherever it blows. The world I knew feels so different. Less angry. I had a family still together. It's music like this that reminds me of the bliss some of us used to have, ancient as it seems.

Years after discovering it and I'm still listening. To me, I love that this is like a memory you can't bring into focus. It's there. You can feel the shape and the depth of the thought, but the details can't exist for more than a fleeting moment, not long enough for you to perceive. It's calming. You can listen as many times as you'd like, and each time the song can mean anything you need. I wish I had better words to describe the emotion it evokes.
