I can see and hear why Avril was your favorite as a teen. For me, the 90's was a decade where life was so busy that I didn't have time to learn about new artists. I leaned on my favorite music from my youth. This song had plenty of attitude and energy as did your reaction.
That was a fast reaction! Wasn‘t the video just releasedsome hours ago. Anyways, Avril rocks! I loved her last comeback album „Head over water“, which was only like last year - so I am also surprised to see her come out with something new. Takes us back to „sk8ter boy“ vibes! And: I always had a crush one women with electric guitars!
She kind of disappeared for a while fighting Lyme disease I think. When she came back she had to face a rumour that she had died and it was a double walking around pretending to be her. Of course, the fact that this looks and sounds like Avril from 15 years ago is just going to feed that... they'll say she recorded and shot the video a long time ago. lol. Like the reaction, sj. Thanks.
While I dig the nostalgia and this fun side of Avril, I can’t help but wonder why we’re seemingly ignoring that she just put out a hit album in 2019. Some great songs written about her struggle with disease and near death experiences made for a more mature Avril, musically. I like both sides of her because they all sound like her and her roots. You hear “Bite Me,” you think of “What The Hell.” You hear “It Was In Me”, you think of “I’m With You.” I’m cool with that. But she’s only been gone a couple years, so what’s up with that ?
Unsure how you feel about K-Pop, but there is a sort of rock-subgenre within it. Lots of girl groups going that direction lately. One of the members of PIXY, Dajeong, just released a medley-cover of Complicated and Sk8er Boi this morning.
